I take your point but with a name like Owen Jones, he'd likely know that round these parts the phrase I used has more to do with personality than appearance.

I still want to believe he is a good guy who has lost his way (but is that just my female socialisation under the patriarchy kicking in?!).

I used to think there was a chance he was decent but misguided and lacked the courage to admit he had no argument and was wrong. Then I read the screenshotted post. Of course, the poster might not be telling the truth, but I believe she is. It fits with his aggression, his championing of porn, and his obvious leftwing misogny, doesn't it? Women are to be supported while they're poor and victims but as soon as they start getting in the way of what a man wants it's another matter.

I think OH is a nasty little prick but I do agree that some of the comments, especially about “slapping” him are ott.

These posts could be quoted elsewhere to brand us all as violent, threatening etc. Which we certainly are not.

I have never liked him. As a working class woman, I thought he got the "Chavs" thing spectacularly wrong and he fetishises/infantilises working class people in a creepy David Attenborough kind of way.

Depends what you mean by support trans rights, of course.
I don't think men can become women but I don't want them to be beaten up or discriminated against in housing or work for gender nonconformity, and I suspect that's a pretty standard view on here.

She actually said most cis women she knows. So she was not talking about woman. I mean cis women, who are they? A few thousand gender studies grads? The women working in diversity and inclusion jobs? A few confused teenagers? I don't know any cis women. Do you?
I mean cis women are a bit of a minority in the real world, no one I know has a clue what cis is and when they find out they usually laugh.

Countess: indeed - women have always been very matter of fact about fully transitioned men who, sounds patronising, are some of the sweetest guys and bring out our protective instinct. I would stand up for them in any real life situation, like other women would. It is this trans activist bandwagon we are now having to stand up against.

It is protection from males that trans require and to be accepted as part of the male spectrum. Owen is awfully keen to get trans people out of men's changing rooms. Gay people used to be treated that way too

Owen may have some issues he needs to question, just like straight men had to back in the 70s.
