International Women's Day Mass Cancelling of Labour Memberships Action

I am passing on an action started by @mayday4women on Twitter; they aren't on Mumsnet so they said I could post here for them.

Basically they are getting a lot of women contacting them saying they are cancelling their Labour memberships due to the decision by Labour's NEC to essentially take on self ID as party policy in every area, including re AWS. And they think it'd be a more powerful statement if women did it en masse together on International Women's Day, which is the 8th March (Thursday).

The idea is to let Labour see how important this is to women, and how badly they are letting women down. Everyone can always reinstate their memberships down the line, but this is a way to be seen and heard, and to make a statement. I'm not a member of any political party myself right now, but as I say I am passing this on and doing all I can to support my sisters in the Labour Party.

Mayday for women are drawing up a statement, and you can get in touch with them directly if you want to let them know you are taking part in the action: mayday4women@gmail

Cheers!

Little OJ's mum is a university lecturer. She must be so proud.

What is it with these brocialists and the mummy hatred?

AngryAttackKittens · 07/03/2018 11:58

Maybe when he went off to uni mum wasn't willing to come over on weekends and wash his socks for him, and he's still angry however many years later.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/03/2018 11:59

But yeah, I was the third person in my family to go to university, and neither of my parents did. And only a couple of my many cousins. Looks like I win, Owen.

Xenophile · 07/03/2018 12:00

I hate to inform LOJ of this, but the last shop worker job I had we did a survey and 75% of the "women shop workers" had a degree, 12 of them had a Masters degree and one had had to stop working on her PhD because she was pregnant, she can't afford to go back and finish it.

So he can ram his idea that working class women are stupid up his hoop.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 12:00

Oh I missed that it's not even middle class women

It's women who have been to university and have non minimum wage jobs who are not fit for office

fucks sake

whoputthecatout · 07/03/2018 12:08

Corbyn has just stood up at PMQs and announced his support for equality for women and referenced International Women's Day.

What a nerve! Bloody hypocrite.

Better go and give your friend Lily Madigan a cuddle Jeremy after their roasting by Julia Hartley Brewer. They are probably sobbing into a hanky somewhere sniffing "s'not fair".

Xenophile · 07/03/2018 12:09

Also, why isn't LOJ being vilified and cast out for these words?

The lack of women represented in the House of Commons is nothing less than a national disgrace. We’re over 80 years on from winning universal suffrage, but only one in five MPs don’t have a Y chromosome.

When was his Damascene moment where he realised that you don't have to have a Y chromosome to be a woman? Was it before or after he recognised that he didn't see trans men as men, do you think?

LangCleg · 07/03/2018 12:09

What if I'm university educated AND working class? I'm guessing that if we put the early lives of my parents and Owen's parents side by side in a class-off mine would win the "who's the most genuinely working class" competition by a mile.

Me, me, me, this is also me!

Owen is such a prick. He comes from Labour gentry. And he followed the Labour gentry cronyist route - grammar school > Oxbridge > gifted job in a trades union meant to represent working class women > gifted columns as a lefty media commentator.

He is as much a beneficiary of elite social closure as any Tory.

Have just seen this on twitter Grin

University education and working class?

Hmmmm

When considering whether you are a worthy person or not, you also need to check your sex. Female? Sorry, not worthy.

Luckily there are some new-style women who are superior to the old-style cunty ones who will do very well, they seem much better for some reason that the likes of OJ just won't be able to put their finger on...

ChocolateCoveredGrapes · 07/03/2018 12:18
Grin There are a few like that.

Bromentum and Mr1984, destroyed the Labour party.

Popchyk · 07/03/2018 12:19

Not a Labour member (nor a supporter after this) but I would be tempted to get the resignations in first before the big announcement.

Steal their thunder. Maybe at 00:01 on International Women's Day.

Or marry up the number of signatures and the time. So if you have 1005 signatures then send them in at 10.05am.

Don't let them get their story out first. Don't let them define the terms.

therealposieparker · 07/03/2018 12:21

I didn't renew this year due to this hatred of women on the entire left and particularly in Labour.

Collidascope · 07/03/2018 12:26

I like that Joel Snape, who also writes for the Guardian, has retweeted James Kirkup and has called Owen out for bullying.

PositivelyPERF · 07/03/2018 12:29

That interview was hilarious. Well done to Talkradio for not bullying your presenters into accepting the TRA cult. I can see why the Labour Party are happy to let Lily spend all his time on Twitter. Lily’s not smart enough to actually be able to speak in public. I’m off to read all about how ‘poor’ Lily was bullied by the big bad TERF. 🤣

LifelongVaginaOwner · 07/03/2018 12:42

OJ is on Five Live right now. This is not a drill

RedToothBrush · 07/03/2018 13:07

MAYDAY 4 WOMEN @mayday4women
We've just spoken to The Mail about the mass resignation. Media are definitely interested. Labour can't just dismiss women forever.

And Mr1984 rather than OJ really hits the mark for what he is.

ChocolateCoveredGrapes · 07/03/2018 13:11

What will Mr1984 do now? Go off and live on the proceeds he made whilst the LGBT community, Labour party, women and children clean up his mess?

JessicaEccles · 07/03/2018 13:30

i anti-trans activists "overplayed their hand so much they made Labour more pro-trans rights."

ie WOMEN ARE BEING NASTY!!!!

Didn't they say that about the suffragettes? that if only they had conducted their campaigns in a respectful and decent manner they would have been given the vote BY MEN much earlier? Women need to learn to wait for the Big Father to dole out the favours..... Angry

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/03/2018 13:47

I wish I could do something to show support!! I'm in NI so the Labour Party is for nothing over here. If there is anything I can do please let me know!!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/03/2018 13:49

Maybe I could make a voodoo doll of Mr1984. 🤔 A life size one that could fit in my pocket.

JenniferJames · 07/03/2018 14:03

'Skiing in the alps. No - not really! not that'

I will post on here later... phone signal in Verbier simply frightful and I had too much gluhwein with my tartiflette.#onthepiste

Popchyk · 07/03/2018 14:12

He reminds me more of Squealer, the second in command at Animal Farm. Little porker. Orwell Jones. Ha, the farmer is called Jones.

At this point in our history we are at the scene where Boxer the workhorse is sent to the knackers yard, having outlived his usefulness. And Squealer jumps at the opportunity to grandstand about his death and spread more propaganda.
