Biological SEX MATTERS. How many mumsnetters say "aye" to this campaign?

1000 replies

SexMatters · 05/03/2018 10:34

This document and campaign called 'Sex Matters' is a collaborative effort by amazing and knowledgeable mumsnetters on a couple of threads in FWR.

To move forward with the campaign, the organisations and individuals approached will need to know who is behind it, and the honest truth, is that mumsnetters have spearheaded it.

That does not mean that other campaigners can't get involved or even take greater ownership of it. But it needs a bio in order to introduce it to people and organisations to get started and I need your consent to describe the campaign this way: 'mumsnetter led' (and maybe even some suggestions for writing a bio on this thread).

So, you amazing gender-critical mumsnetters, do you say 'aye'?

A bump to remind people to also sign this petition for further consultation on the effect of self-id on women.

Yes - please sign the petition!

With stickers lemon and everyone - what's better - round or 'address label' shaped?

Aye

whitehandledkitchenknife · 13/03/2018 19:12

Stickers- oh yes please.
Round, I think. Quick and easy to peel.

SexMatters · 13/03/2018 19:18

Thanks white.
I think stickers should have campaign name and qr code to the pdf + twitter handle & Web. .. I wonder if it would be good to have a question like "Do you think #sexmatters?" To pique interest...

Whatever’s cheapest!

Lemonjello · 13/03/2018 19:20

I wouldn’t bother with qr code. Takes up room that would be better used with a question to pique interest. And I wouldn’t scan a we code in a sticker with sex written in it in case it took me somewhere dodgy!

Lemonjello · 13/03/2018 19:25

And I think the question needs to spell it out a bit for people. Along the lines of
“would you be happy if there was a man in the next cubicle? Single sex spaces are under threat. Find out more at...”

KitKat1985 · 13/03/2018 19:28

Aye.

SexMatters · 13/03/2018 20:09

Are you thinking along the lines of this twitter.com/JackyHolyoake/status/972795905152897024 lemon except more concise?

Although we don't condone any illegal damage to property and you must always seek permission first Wink is it too narrow to only consider toilet cubicles? There might be other relevant contexts..

Yes I think it needs to get across to people the implications and reason for the campaign quickly, clearly and concisely.

I think if the stickers are ambiguous they might be mistaken for a safe sex campaign or similar. I think they need to spell it out a bit more than just the campaign name if possible.

SexMatters · 13/03/2018 20:42

I'm wondering though whether there might be other contexts like waiting rooms at the gp and so on, but I suppose people go to the toilet far more than they do any any other activity I can imagine Grin

OP posts:
Lemonjello · 13/03/2018 20:49

Yes I think the toilet and changing rooms are where I would be likely to stick them, because it’s private and anonymous. And it is in those places of vulnerability where it will hit home most for people I would think.

AuntyElle · 13/03/2018 20:52
