Biological SEX MATTERS. How many mumsnetters say "aye" to this campaign?

1000 replies

SexMatters · 05/03/2018 10:34

This document and campaign called 'Sex Matters' is a collaborative effort by amazing and knowledgeable mumsnetters on a couple of threads in FWR.

To move forward with the campaign, the organisations and individuals approached will need to know who is behind it, and the honest truth, is that mumsnetters have spearheaded it.

That does not mean that other campaigners can't get involved or even take greater ownership of it. But it needs a bio in order to introduce it to people and organisations to get started and I need your consent to describe the campaign this way: 'mumsnetter led' (and maybe even some suggestions for writing a bio on this thread).

So, you amazing gender-critical mumsnetters, do you say 'aye'?

Good morning. The doc has been updated with the bio and I am wondering a bit more about actions people can take.

Someone updated a picture of the sign on the door of their unisex toilets at work which freaks them out whenever they see it and this suggests we need some way to empower individuals - eg employees to challenge their employers, etc, as well as writing to MPs or taking part in co-ordinated actions against business..

Could we provide that? or do we need legal funds to help people?

I'm also thinking we need some sort of 'add your voice' facility. With 'we believe you, there was some way of people doing tweeting anonymously wasn't there? The everyday sexism project was amazing for that - . does anyone know the kind of website that is?

Aye.

In terms of activism, any form of online poll will just be attacked by the other group won't it? As will any real names listed on it. Can you stay anonymous?

Looks like a fantastic idea Ofmen but this is the Inclusivity policy:

PROCESSIONS is a portrait of women of the 21st century and we’re working to ensure that every woman and girl feels welcome. We want all women, irrespective of their background, beliefs or ideals, to feel that they have the opportunity to take part.

We’re inviting all women to play a part in this vast enterprise – whether through being present; making a banner; taking part in community activity or just spreading the word. There are lots of way for women to make their mark.

Our invitation extends to:

Women and girls aged 0 – 110
Women of all races, ethnicities and heritage
Lesbian, straight, queer and bisexual women
Trans women, cis women and gender variant or non binary people
^Women of all faiths and none
Disabled women and women of every ability
Women who seek to make, or have made, this country their home, and those who have lived here all their lives.

So it seems that the organisers don't think sex matters in defining/celebrating women, so it probably isn't a good fit for this thread.

And they can fuck away off with their ‘cis’.

The local Paper have contacted me for an interview, about the GRA and the SexMatters campaign. I will be speaking to them on Thursday thi week. I will also be discussing Labour as I have a letter from our MP confirming the approach to women, ie they think men are women too.
