Biological SEX MATTERS. How many mumsnetters say "aye" to this campaign?

This document and campaign called 'Sex Matters' is a collaborative effort by amazing and knowledgeable mumsnetters on a couple of threads in FWR.

To move forward with the campaign, the organisations and individuals approached will need to know who is behind it, and the honest truth, is that mumsnetters have spearheaded it.

That does not mean that other campaigners can't get involved or even take greater ownership of it. But it needs a bio in order to introduce it to people and organisations to get started and I need your consent to describe the campaign this way: 'mumsnetter led' (and maybe even some suggestions for writing a bio on this thread).

So, you amazing gender-critical mumsnetters, do you say 'aye'?

I think it’s interesting how some posters don’t understand the hairdressers etc things. I’ve known women and girls from three different religions that aren’t able to freely associate with men. Since being a girl I’ve been aware of that. Whatever my feelings about the religion/ cultural rules are I fully support measures to ensure that women who do live by those rules can participate in society through having single sex provision.

Also I don’t want non-emergency intimate care from male bodied individuals. I don’t feel it should be necessary that I need to plead my case as to why I should be offered the option as it’s none of anyone’s business. I don’t want to stop anyone from partaking if they wish, I just don’t want my choice taken away.

Yes, and a million times yes!

My choice overrides your partaking. Give me respect and I'll respect you back.

I mentioned earlier that my DH was very supportive when I showed him this thread.
I think we are missing a lot of support from partners and fathers who would want to protect their female relatives when they need private spaces. There must be some way of gathering that help.

This is the core of the whole issue for me. Excellent document, thank you.

Badgerthebodger · 06/03/2018 16:37

Glad there’s a guy on Twitter who is organising some Woman’s Place type meetings for GC men to see how they can support by getting out of the “manbox” and extend “man” to be better inclusive of feminine presenting men. Not sure that makes sense but hope you get the gist Blush

I’m sure they would be up for putting some ayes in, in 24hrs it’s grown from a small meeting suggested by one guy, to something with a name, aims and three meeting dates. They are definitely allies

Sexmatters: "So what is the point they are making?"
That we are less than human and they hate us.

I so love this... and it doesn't need to be all mums netters... just saying "started by 2,000 mums netters and now signed by 6,453 people (to include other signatures from other sites like men!) " is deeply powerful - and we are well on the way.... YOU ARE BRILLIANT Sexmatters ... and hope you are getting some well-earned sleep....

ps The piechart is fab!!
