The Labour Party continues to troll women

The latest addition to a Labour LGBT+ advisory board has been announced. I think we safely say the party has made its position clear on trans issues

Mouthandtrouserall

Is that not illegal? Does it not breach the Equality Act?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/02/2018 14:45

"Apart from being trans- a fucking MODEL being a Labour spokesperson? What about someone who, you know, actually has an interest in politics and has done something?"

Yes quite. We will Katie Price representing 'cis' women soon, cos she , you know, looks like one.

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2018 15:43

It’s finally broken Venice Allen’s support for Jeremy, we could all see it coming but I get no pleasure from being proved right.

And Jennifer James is not too impressed at the rumour that Jon Lansman is going to stand for Labour General Secretary, saying:

Two Flames @msjenniferjames
Oh god no. No to Lansman. No no no no HELL NO. Already has too much power. There is only one member of Momentum and his name is Jon Lansman. Momentum members are used as voting fodder, no democracy in the organisation, just a hierarchy.

No shit.

A lot of people concerned about Jeremy Corbyn, are not on an anti-Labour nor even an anti-left crusade. Nor are they Tories. Nor are they evil Liberals. Some are and are bloody gleeful about it. But lots aren't.

They just can see the undemocratic nature of the bollocks going on.

Corbyn's inner circle are just deaf to anything that isn't their pet project or isn't in their gang. They got a whiff of power and they've all gone stark raving mad.

I wish more people would wake up and see this. They will. But perhaps not until its too late.

Its like watching a car crash in slow motion.

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2018 15:53

Why do you believe that Red ?

The latest polling for London isn't pretty for the Conservatives. They look like they are on track to lose control of more than one council.

I've seen this morning that Labour are micro-targeting EU nationals who can't vote in the GE.

And the timing of the custom union stuff? Pitched now, not months ago? Roughly eight weeks ago of the elections? Which is regarded as pretty much the optimum run in time for a campaign.

They will hail it a victory for all these policies (including self ID and trans politics), rather than because the Tories are such utterly incompetent muppets.

Its all rather depressing.

OrderOnline · 27/02/2018 15:54

Like a real life Taylor swift video. Look what you made Labour women do! Lists, a car crash, Jennifer James looking for receipts and her gifs of a woman blowing things up in her wake!

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/02/2018 15:56

That would be fun Order

Fekko · 27/02/2018 15:57

Well, there will be a meeting where several of the all very special and unique (and loud and opinionated) new labour appointees will attend. I can’t see that ending up harmoniously

Fekko · 27/02/2018 15:58

Odd how the Labour Party is becoming quite male voiced. And called ‘labour’ - which is a uniquely female experience.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 27/02/2018 16:18

The Labour Party May actually be trolling itself

Ah. They are the wrong type of Labour LGBT and not members of the correct faction.

Awesome.

That is truly amazing.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 27/02/2018 16:31

Donors?

Could that be the key to all this?

JessicaEccles · 27/02/2018 16:35

So the Labour party is ignoring its own members of a democratic organisation for fancy volunteers who don't belong to the party and whose previous experience was having nice hair....

And if Lansmann become General Sec, I may have to stop voting Labour.

MumOfTheMoos · 27/02/2018 16:53

I think this TA thing in Labour is very patchy. I was canvassed by my Labour councillor at the weekend.

Normally I just explain that I'm a Lib Dem (actually stood in the ward 10 years ago) and let them get on their way. But this time i wanted to let him know i was so upset about Self ID and the GRA and any man that just says they're a woman getting access to changing rooms & AWS etc.

He'd never heard of it, I had to explain it all to him. He started saying (as I also pointed out I was no fan of Jeremy Corbyn) 'oh but this is local not national' and I pointed out to him that schools, sports centres etc etc would all be affected by this. To his credit, he saw straight away that it was a safeguarding issue for women and said that neither he or any of the other candidates would support Self ID.

Which was comforting, I have to say.

But it did make me think that the issues in the CLPs seem to be just specifically where TAs are very active and are pushing it and where there are no TAs active in a CLP it's going under the radar.

I don't know if this resonates with anyone who is actually a member of a CLP ?

I have no idea what's going on with the Lib Dem's, I'm not very active now. Although I got a request to deliver leaflets, do I might just check before I say yes!

LangCleg · 27/02/2018 16:57

I don't know if this resonates with anyone who is actually a member of a CLP ?

My CLP is anti self-ID but too scared of membership, compliance and regional to pass a motion on it.

Gacapa · 27/02/2018 17:20

It doesn't matter if particular candidates are against self-ID. They vote how they are whipped to vote. So it's party policy which is important.

Of course some may vote against, but it'd take a lot to convince someone it's worth jeopardising their career/standing in the party and other associated ostracism.

I'd be very, very wary of any candidate of any party claiming he or she would never vote for something, even if whipped to do so.

MumOfTheMoos · 27/02/2018 17:42

Yes, I take your point Gacapa and I haven't decided who to vote for yet because I'm not actually a Labour supporter.

However, what struck me was not that so much as that he really hadn't heard about it and that the feeling you get online that all CLPs are all bought into trans activism and that anybody who isn't is on 'the wrong side of history' might not be the case.

Which has to be of some comfort, doesn't it?

Because I too sometimes feel we're living in an episode of the twilight zone and it does my head in. I'm grasping at straws I guess...

CAAKE · 27/02/2018 17:42

* ...it did make me think that the issues in the CLPs seem to be just specifically where TAs are very active and are pushing it and where there are no TAs active in a CLP it's going under the radar.*

I think this is true. I ccd our CLP (SE, affluent Tory voting area) on my grand flounce email when I resigned my membership. A lovely local woman emailed me by return and we had several exchanges where I sent her some MN threads and some online articles and resources. She subsequently peak-transed and vowed to take it up with others.

CAAKE · 27/02/2018 17:44

Oh. Bold fail. Sorry.

AskBasil · 27/02/2018 17:58

Why the fuck are Harriet Harman, Tessa Jowell, Margaret Beckett et al meekly accepting these willy waving males telling them what's what?

How can they be sitting there watching this happening to their party?

Where is their self-respect?

I thought Harriet Harman was a bit of a handmaiden when she allowed Brown and Blair to fuck single mothers over, but at least she did that in order to wring much better concessions out of them the year after (by which time lots of single mothers had had nervous breakdowns, but hey ho, long term etc.).

But this?

Where are the women in the Labour Party? What's happened to them?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/02/2018 18:01

Harriet Harman recently said that she fully supports Self ID. So disappointed, I always rated her.

SmurfOrTerf · 27/02/2018 18:52

Harriet Harman - who publicly supported PIE
Shock

Gacapa · 27/02/2018 19:24

I know a Labour MP who loves to sneer at women. Complete Corbyn arse licker. He loves referring to her as Harriet Harperson and ridiculing her as if it's hilarious. These women are either clueless or colluding in the misogyny because what? They don't care?

It's beginning to make me feel actually depressed. Really, really down. I don't want to become bitter, but it's hard. My whole political world has shifted and it's unsettled me. I find myself full of contempt for the left. Like I despise them and am just so angry all the time.

I look at that photo of Madigan with Corbyn, the grinning, and I genuinely can't stand them. I mean real proper loathing. What have these people done to us? To women. To the party. I'm overwhelmed.

LongWeek · 27/02/2018 19:25

Sorry can't remember who said it, but I agree about lily madigan constantly blocking people. Lily says they want to be the first trans MP- well if you're an MP you can't block people who disagree with you in RL.
They might abuse you, even threaten you one week, and next week need help with their benefits.
As an MP you have to get a thick skin & get on with the job.

flintyminty · 27/02/2018 19:41

AskBasil
Is Margaret Beckett on record anywhere as supporting Self-ID? Or is it just that she hasn't publicly come out against it? She is my MP and am just in process of writing to her.
She can't be worried about deselection what with her standing in the LP and also the fact she is unlikely to stand again at next election anyway.

LassWiADelicateAir · 27/02/2018 19:57

Have they forgotten that people over 30 can vote? This whole desperately chasing the youth vote look is downright undignified on a man Corbyn's age

He really is a prat.
