Response from Labour MP - man aged 67 who will never be impacted by this so proud to give away consent and rights of women, why would he care if it makes him seem cool with the queer folk.

So men can go on the All women shortlists because they are men. Women cannot say no to men in female spaces if men decide it's ok. If men decide you are safe you can just shut up about it as its not fair to men otherwise. Waffle waffle waffle about "gender assignment" and "gender identity". I think he has put them in inverted comma because he has no idea what they mean.

Give me a large gin.

Local paper?

ScreamingLevitation · 26/02/2018 19:55

I wonder if he wrote it himself...

Good lord, just when you think you can't possibly peak any further.

thebewilderness · 26/02/2018 19:55

That is good that they took a firm position that women must submit or git. Makes organizing to remove them much simpler.

ContemporaryPankhurst · 26/02/2018 19:57

OMG! Certainly local paper and Twitter.

I'm jealous, my Labour MP responded to my first letter with 'trans. are the most oppressed' and my second letter with 'thank you for sharing your views' - he wont define or comment on anything and he backed the GRA!

Fabulous job, well done xx.

Spoil the vote [XX]

This is a letter from my Labour MP - Southampton Test

I wrote to him asking what he thought of the Swimming UK guidelines and explained that I would have to stop swimming if the government decided men were allowed to use women's changing rooms. He's not bothered. I also asked is view on labour allowing men on all women shortlists. He says it's because men are women of course, silly me.

Ah, I misunderstood. Yes I will send it to the Southampton Echo tomorrow.

Do a mystery woman interview, link them to the Huffington Post Pilgrim Tucker blog, explaining why you need to keep your identity private.

flintyminty · 26/02/2018 20:04

I read on another thread somewhere (can't find it now), that Dawn Butler (Labour Equalities) had sent out a template letter for MPs to toe the party line on Self ID. This looks like it could be a copy & paste job similar to some that others have posted.
All balls and no brains.

Mouthandtrousersall · 26/02/2018 20:05

I've blocked my address on here as a privacy measure but I am not afraid to be out about this, I don't care if idiots call me names like bigot /phobe whatever. It didn't do Gordon Brown any good so I am rather surprised Labour are adopting it as a wholesale campaign tactic.

Labour - putting the big into bigot.

Fuck em, if that leaves their office they don't deserve votes from women or a position of power.

Babdoc · 26/02/2018 20:08

I don’t think Labour give a shit about women, feminism or women’s rights.
They only pay lip service.
I’m a Tory, and we’re on our second female Prime Minister. How many have Labour had? Oh, yes...none.

SmurfOrTerf · 26/02/2018 20:10

So do the Labour Party not know that women have the vote ?
And we do not ask our fathers or husbands who to vote for

and I've committed crimes here by starting sentences with So and And Grin

Great that you wrote, well done! This is such an important issue, and I think a lot of MPs just don't get it. They have been hypnotised with the transwomen are women mantra and not really understand what a trans person is like.

If you can, I would honestly try to go and see him. There's a resources thread which has a good list of women's spaces, you could go in with that, talk through it and tell him how worried you are and the implications. I would mention some transwomen also agree with you. I would also try to show some pictures of how much a man a trans person can look - someone like Danielle Muscato for eg, there is a mumsnet picture somewhere here with his suck my dick post, some pictures of transwomen in sport, something like terfisaslur. Ask what their policies will be to keep women biological women and girls safe from people with male bodies and penises in their spaces. Ask him how they are proposing to stop people who aren't trans but are perverts from abusing this.

If you can speak face to face, I think it will make all the difference.

Ouchbirthhurted · 26/02/2018 20:35

Smurf no I think they've forgotten. We haven't though. No one I have told will vote Labour again if they don't support women's safety and rights too.

Mouthandtrousersall · 26/02/2018 20:37

Yes, I will try to meet him to talk about it. This is a very muslim area.

People I told, are not going to vote or spoil their papers. Nobody wants to vote UKIP, there is nobody else.

thebewilderness · 26/02/2018 20:40

I've worked as an HR consultant for 35 years for 25 different companies and never ever heard once about a trans person experiencing discrimination in my entire working career.
2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a violent hate crime.

FEJ2016 · 26/02/2018 20:40

Trans women are women. There have been precisely zero incidents of trans people creating problems in changing rooms. They're human beings who are just there to try on clothes! Like all the other women in there. Get a grip.
I'm very glad to see the politicians are pretty much there in terms of rights for trans people. Catch up.

FEJ2016 · 26/02/2018 20:43

Also, soon you will be in such a minority with your views you will be like the racist grandparents your grandchildren are embarrassed of. I hope someone other than you manages to teach them how to speak of other human beings with respect and understanding.

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/02/2018 20:44

Oh do behave. The adults are talking.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 26/02/2018 20:46

Trans women are women.

In what way are these people women, @FEJ2016?

"Transwomen" are a subset of males, not females, which explains why fully half of those incarcerated are there for sex crimes.
