Do you really think being accused of not seeing dirt is offensive and oppressive to men?
Along with all the other hilarious stereotypes about them? Yes.
But in general it’s not feminists who believe that men are incapable. It’s other women who infantilise men, roll their eyes at men’s so-called incompetence and rush off to Boots to get meds for manflu whilst they themselves are struggling with colds, housework, childcare etc.
That Boots ad perfectly demonstrates the lie that patriarchy/ society / whatever has sold us. That women should do more of the grunt work because men are too incompetent.
Similar arguments I’ve seen by actual published authors are: girls have more empathy and don’t mind reading books about boy protagonists whilst boys can’t handle reading about girls.
Women have empathy and release oxytocin when ironing shirts for their family because it’s all so caring. That’s why women are better at housework. And should do more of it.
It’s a coping mechanism given to us. A pat on the head to stop us getting pissed off. And it’s been around since Victorian times when women starting getting stroppy.
That was when the Angel in the House gubbins came about - the idea that men should do the important well paid stuff because women were morally superior. Twisty twisty crap.
Feminists know men aren’t incompetent and feminists believe that men are well capable of empathy. Feminists aren’t the ones with a low opinion of men.
