Labour are not losing women this week... poll bounces back.

Latest @yougov poll calls into question the #labourlosingwomen narrative. Women Labour voters are up five percentage points from last week's poll (40 to 45). Possible a blip not a trend?

Westminster voting intention:

LAB: 41% (+2)
CON: 40% (-3)
LDEM: 8% (-)
UKIP: 4% (+1)
GRN: 2% (-1)

Yes how will Corbyn manage when one of his pet minorities (trans) comes squarely into conflict with another (Islamic extremists)?
His poor little brain will explode. As a Tory I suppose I ought to be looking forward to this, yet somehow, I find it all very depressing.

OrderOnline · 17/02/2018 17:07

Kinder, gentler politics
Transwomen are women
For the many not the few
Hmm

TemporarySign · 17/02/2018 18:25

"but the Labour party is where we can all make a difference. They are likely to be the next government."

Not if 'we' don't exist we can't. And have you learned nothing from Kinnock's display of arrogance?

If Labour want to win they could go the old tried and tested route of making sure their policies are fully costed, and of not alienating half the population in favour of winning specific sections of 'youf' vote.

I'm a centre-left supporter, but I'm not seeing much rationality in politics at the moment.

CorbynsComrade · 17/02/2018 19:05

Corbyn and McDonnell are literal heroes #JC4PM

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 17/02/2018 19:22

CorbynsComrade

Nice try. Interesting first post however.

OlennasWimple · 17/02/2018 19:22

Piglet - what exactly happened? I can't work it out from the Twitter discussion

Though LB's Twitter feed took me to her own webpage, and I wonder if she is up to speed on self-ID or if she is worth contacting to ask her views. She has recently written about the importance of post-natal care, which obviously is an area vulnerable to hijack by the TRAs

Wheresmy - I can call that one right now: the Islamists will win out (see how Jewish Labour party members have been treated for evidence). Besides, there isn't as much of a clash as you might think: as seen in places like Iran, it can be "better" to be trans than to be gay Hmm

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 17/02/2018 19:29

Basically the new male NEC chair allegedly shouted at, bullied and took over the stage from the female chair including pushing hercaside.

Labour are not losing women this week... poll bounces back.

That makes a perverse kind of sense Olenna I suppose.

OlennasWimple · 17/02/2018 19:55

Urgh

Never mind trans issues, the Labour Party seems intent on killing itself

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/02/2018 20:12

Corbyn'sComrade, are you make in disguise?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 17/02/2018 20:14

OlennasWimple the fact that the likes of Chris Williamson MP and Ken McCluskey don't see an issue with what happened today, says it all really.

CorbynsComrade · 17/02/2018 20:17

Nope- can check me out on Twitter if you like @kidd_campbell

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 17/02/2018 21:23

So you came to post a sounbite. how original

I do wonder if Labour are avoiding power so that they don't have to deal with Brexit? I don't think I'd choose to be in politics right now tbf!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 17/02/2018 21:41

Labour are in a really good position to gain more support

But to do that they would need to ask and listen to not just to Labour members (who they are ignoring unless they go along with the leadership narrative)

This is what they should do this what they won’t bother to do. Labour MP’s we’re having to get the policen involved due to threats what did the leadership do nothing. Thousands have demanded a Labour Brexit plan month and month what to we get nothing. Thousands will ask them to consider Self ID what will we get stop being a bigot. Only once pushed into a corner did they come up with a farcical report into anti semitism when it could no longer be ignored

Problem is Labour is being run by a group of people who don’t want to work at politics (too much like hard work) and just want to rebel against those that oppose them

TemporarySign · 25/02/2018 22:11

Hello people, this is not the right place to leave this I know but I can't find a better one. Has anyone heard of Renew before? It's a new political party I've just come across. They might be another waste of space, but many of us are looking for something different.

JenniferJames I share your horror at what is happening to the Labour Party - I'm as Labour as they come - but you won't change it by vigorously denying that women aren't furious, and that women aren't leaving the party, because they are, however you like to slice it. The only reason I am able to remain a Labour voter is because my sitting Labour MP is being pretty good on these issues, but I don't know what I would do if I was in, say, Corbyn's constituency. (Even though I consider myself on the left, I think he's an utter dick for his antisemitism and his incompetence as well as his stance on trans issues.)

And the union path to getting this changed? I'd welcome any advice you have on that. I'm a Unite member of very long standing, and all I get is newsletters from them gleefully trashing "transphobes" who object to self-ID. I don't even know where to start with them, so any pointers towards gender-crit union groups would be great.

ArcheryAnnie · 26/02/2018 08:16

Oh, and it's even worse since the Tories - who started this whole mess - seem to be pulling back from it. So Labour, the useless WEP and the Greens are left lagging even further behind the Tories.
