I'm just catching up with this - and have been interested to read the comments about the party politics involved.
I'm a Conservative voter and lapsed party member and I used to be an activist (hence my username) and I currently have a "political" related job. I bought a ticket for the WP meeting confident that I'd have the blessing of my gender critical (and stereotypically white, middle aged, male, Tory) boss.
But then I saw the speakers who were announced. No matter what the issue under discussion, I could not be seen to be attending. My job would be at risk. I felt as excluded as those people who fear doxxing, but not for the same reasons - it wasn't the subject matter my boss would condemn me for, but the political trend of all the people delivering the message.
I've been to loads of cross party political events aimed at women (eg The Parliament Project, 50:50 Parliament) and they've all had well balanced panels and speakers from across the political spectrum.
I understand that this has been initiated by Labour women, but there needs to be a wider representation in order to engage cross party. Like it or not, the strongest allies for this cause will be from the Right.
