If Lily has indeed got a GRC so incredibly quickly, it's clearly not the lengthy, arduous, near-impossible process we are led to believe. So it doesn't need changing.

Yes, lily's reply to SRR in which Lily claimed to have a GRC. Lily has made this claim before here.

It would be transphobic to ask to see a GRC but when you get one, you also get a new birth cert and it's not transphobic to ask to see that. The process is almost automatic - if you are successful, the gender recognition panel notify the relevant registrar who then sends you a draft of the new certificate. As soon as you confirm the details, your new birth cert is sent. Full details here.

I have a divide in my mind though, about the 'old' transsexuals who are just getting on with their lives and have had 'the op'., and the 'new' young men who are literally just taking the piss, and still have a penis.
Maybe some kind of 'penis checker' could be in attendance ?

I managed to read David Lindsay's comments before they were taken down. He spoke a lot of sense. No wonder they got rid of it. What's the point of sense and logic in a nonsensical debate..

I have a lovely friend with BPD. I would respectfully disagree with missmoney’s thesis. Unfortunately lovely friend’s MH often leads her into awful situations as a result of her disordered thinking. Because her beliefs are entirely based on her feelings and not on material reality, she struggles enormously with differentiating the two. It’s not ‘lying’, in the true sense of the word, because she genuinely 100% believes what she is saying to be true (because that’s the way she feels). Sadly, it ruins her life, because there is a huge chasm between her beliefs and the material reality of so many situations.
Which actually made me realises that there could be STRONGER links between BPD and transgender - if you truly believe you are a woman because of your ‘feelings’, you are going to be bloody infuriated when people point out you have a penis and are not.
It’s exactly the same disordered thinking that my lovely friend suffers from. Her feelings do not match up with material reality. And the outcome is often the same (suicide threats, false accusations of abuse etc).
Mental illness is bleak.

Just noticed Ova am very heartened by a lot of the comments by people so much more articulate and erudite than myself.

They have managed - just like many of the fabulous MNers, to shine a light on the utter ridiculousness of the transwomen are women rhetoric. Plus they've done it by using logic and facts, and without using insults and threats.

It's good to see men as well as women calling Madigan out on his bullshit.
