Gosh it's all gone crazy this eve!

No email here- I posted in my own name (as couldn't work out how to deal anon. Not the same as my email; also, I didn't share it on face book - wonder if that makes a difference? I couldn't create an account either, it was being too slow.

I feel hope this isn't something very sinister.

QuentinSummers · 19/01/2018 22:11

I've met Bob Holness. He was absolutely lovely.

SixesSevens · 19/01/2018 22:14

Just read a tweet that says someone donated in their own name and the donation was returned...

MorrisZapp · 19/01/2018 22:15

Ok next fundraiser we'll all be Rummidgers :) Desiree would wipe the floor with le tout twittersphere. Morris would think, which stance will get me the most sex? I dare say his tastes run to fun fems so it's not looking good.

Hilary's dressing gown has a zip so she's deep in TERF territory.

PlectrumElectrum · 19/01/2018 22:16

Need to go back & catch up.

averylongtimeago · 19/01/2018 22:18

I donated using my name, and have had no emails other than updates.
Will donate again after payday.

Been out today with DD and the DGD, 3 hour drive mostly spent debating this issue - DD and I both agree this is so important, how can we not fight it?

HairyBallTheorem · 19/01/2018 22:19

"Morris would think, which stance will get me the most sex? I dare say his tastes run to fun fems so it's not looking good. "

Spot on. I was thinking along the same lines, but hadn't come up with anything anywhere near as pithy and witty as a way of expressing it.

Morris would also have a side order of "What would get me the most career advancement?" So he either has to go the full Peterson, or the full Transborg, no half measure here.

I have never ever heard or seen a refund like this. How do they know the name of the person donating and what business is it of theirs? They must have been swamped with reports of fraud.

Akire · 19/01/2018 22:42

It’s doing well considering. 7k shares and 1k people donated so 1 in 7 people reading it donate. That’s some hit rate.

GuardianLions · 19/01/2018 22:48

Its just passed 17K..

Stopthetrain · 19/01/2018 23:44

I went off Robin Ince ten years ago or so when I saw his stand-up show and he made a joke deriding working class teenage girls being 'loose'. To be precise he phrased it as girls from a 'different demographic' to himself and described them having sex against bins in his neighbourhood. The insinuation was obvious and the crowd delighted in his careful wording and chuckled along - I thought it was pretty shitty. He was supporting Ricky Gervais who this week self-identified as being slim. I am guessing he (RG and maybe RI) can't be arsed with the backlash but understand (a bit) of the issues of self-ID.

Chincywincy · 20/01/2018 00:50

So the TRAs have set up their own Go fund me page as a reaction to all the hate speech, £200 raised in 11 hours of a £50,000 target.

EamonnWright · 20/01/2018 00:55

'He was supporting Ricky Gervais who this week self-identified as being slim'

It's funny because it's that ridiculous.

pisacake · 20/01/2018 01:07

the pink news article has no comments allowed, presumably because jack monroe is a litigious shit.

Bindibot · 20/01/2018 06:01

I donated in my own name and shared on FB. And within minutes 2 women who I’d previously respected called me bigoted, well they called the campaign bigoted and that I should stop and think…

In a nice patronising pat on the head sort of way…I haven’t replied yet. …

Worst is both work with vulnerable women. Some of me thinks it’s in their nature to see the best in people, but in the back of my head is a voice shouting wake up!!!!

I need to reply (yes I know I don’t need to) but I want to be in the position to say, if worst comes to it, that I tried.

Capelin · 20/01/2018 06:41

Place marking on the new thread

SophoclesTheFox · 20/01/2018 07:03

What is the TRA fundraising campaign for?

Blue hair dye and boxes of tissues for wiping up all the tears from feminists being big mean poopy heads?

OP posts:
AngryAttackKittens · 20/01/2018 07:30

Rainbow striped thigh-highs and anime waifu body pillows.

NannyOggsKnickers · 20/01/2018 07:33

BindiBot

Why don’t you point out the essential homophobia and misogyny of the TRA ideas. Show screen shots from the Twitter groups where they talk about lesbians. And that Tumblr post about it being impossible for a trans woman to rape a woman because of the power imbalance and trans women being powerless.

That should give them something to think about.

facelessvongorgeous · 20/01/2018 07:37

www.pelzsharpe.com/terfoutlabour

Here is a template email that is being encouraged to be sent out to CLPs and MPs. They just don't understand it's not about denying trans people any of those rights but instead ensuring women retain their rights. Blows my mind they can't possibly see an issue with a TIM being in a woman's prison or competing in women's sport.

DonkeySkin · 20/01/2018 07:51

Bindibot - The most important thing is not to be defensive and try to 'prove' that you're not 'transphobic'. This plays into the manipulative framing TRAs have set up. They are the ones with the unreasonable position, not you.

I like NannyOgg's suggestion - go on the offensive instead and Tell Everyone Real Facts about how misogynistic and homophobic the trans movement is.

Or you could also just calmly state, 'It's not bigotry to know that a woman is an adult human female, not a feeling in a man's head.' This has the effect of forcing them to defend their ludicrous position. (If they persist, ask them to define 'woman'. They won't be able to.)

You're unlikely to persuade those women, but remember other people will be silently reading and agreeing.

Ekphrasis · 20/01/2018 07:58

I wonder if it's worth setting up a thread with useful quotes?

These are mine: from a woman's place and a reply to it.

“If you say a woman is only about psychology not biology then you minimise Women’s biological experience and their long struggle for reproductive rights. If you are blind to sex, it is inevitable you will be blind to sexism”
“If you say a woman is only about psychology not biology then you minimise Women’s biological experience and their long struggle for reproductive rights. If you are blind to sex, it is inevitable you will be blind to sexism” I think by @KJ_Harrison from WPUK and I think she's actually trans?

Then:

It goes far beyond reproductive rights, it's the consequences of reproductive labour on women jobs, pensions and financial independence, the maternity death and post partum care; the widespread sexual harassment of female bodies;it goes on and on

JustHooking · 20/01/2018 08:03

If I search my name there are a lot of us and my name is not particularly common
Jack is so special there must only be one of her/him/they

BeyondWW · 20/01/2018 09:44

Irony being that it isn't even Jacks birth name, so it's possible that a real Jack Monroe has just had their donation refunded, despite being "jack Monroe" longer than the litigious chef.
