Latest fundraiser update. Legal work is about to commence.
Update:
This is Jen - the self-id debate is becoming more mainstream every day and we need to keep pushing. Remember this is a tory policy which has cross-party support so don't let the media spin it as 'women vs Corbyn'. It isn't. This is a bone of contention in ALL parties, which is why we need the debate in the form of a calm, measured, fact-based national conversation. The media's only purpose is to undermine Corbyn and the Labour party as socialism poses such a threat to the business class: they could not care less about women.
The funds, to the value of £22,839, are now in the process of being cleared by Gofundme and will land in one of my bank accounts shortly. Gofundme took out £2,204.34 in fees, which leaves us with £20,634.66.
I am putting them in a spare Santander account I have which has a couple of DDs and a fee coming out of it, to the value of £59. I put £59 into it every month. The reason I want to use this account is because it will pay us interest of 1.5% on the balance, But the Santander t&cs insist the account has 2 DDs set up.
We have been asked by our solicitors, Bhogal Partners, to transfer money into our client account in advance of work and we will shortly be sending them £2,500.
We have instructed them with the aim of upholding the laws on the 2010 Equalities Act exemptions which states that sex is a protected characteristic. This is in regard to the Labour party having allowed legally male persons onto all-women shortlists.
Do try to attend the next Woman's Place UK event near you. Our meeting numbers are growing exponentially and pretty soon we won't have to meet in secret! #WPUK
