Lily Madigan and Aisling Musson are asking for 'screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour' so they can make Labour 'a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.' In other words, doxxing people so they can be thrown out of the party for gender-critical views.

The group write-up is:

A group formed to oppose the rising tide of Transphobia in the UK Labour Party and to seek to make the Party a truly safe space for all members regardless of their gender identity or lack thereof.

PLEASE READ THE PINNED POST

If you have screenshots and evidence of transphobic behaviour please put them in the google drive folder rather than offloading them straight into the group as it may otherwise be overwhelming and trans members should have the option to not have to look at upsetting comments.

Do not add anyone unless you are sure that they:

  1. Are a member of the Labour Party
  2. Believe the basis of gender is self-definition
  3. Think that transphobia is grounds for expulsion from the party
  4. Respect the autonomy of trans people to direct the fight against transphobia (I.e will not take decisions against the will of trans people)

If you are a trans and/or non binary person and you would like to be added to the secret group (trans/nb people only) please message lily madigan or aisling musson and we will add you.

Rules:

  • No advocacy for violence, threats of violence of other illegal acts (quite apart from the morality of it, please do not get this group shut down)
  • This is a not a discourse group. If you do not agree that transphobia is bad, that the Labour party has it and that we should fight it, this is not a group for you.
  • Be respectful. As far as possible, please always be friendly, respectful and comradely and treat others as you would wish to be treated.
-No members of other parties.
  • TERF is not a slur.

Im in unison and want to send this form. Where does it go? Is it just hq? Cheers

LyTinWheedle · 23/01/2018 11:26

I have just sent my first ever political email based on the one upthread.

Also told them I will resign my membership, cancel my direct debit and they will lose my vote and support over this matter.

Close to tears thinking about leaving the party but I just can't see any other way.

Fucks sake, if it weren't for you lot I would be SICK of being a woman right now.

crunchymint · 23/01/2018 11:27

Is it possible to set up a Labour Party group that campaigns against this?

Battleax · 23/01/2018 11:30

I think they'd immediately throw us all out. (But I can't say I care.) Then we'd be something else. Continuity Labour? Grin

crunchymint · 23/01/2018 11:31

Might be a way to get more publicity? Especially along lines of why throw us out but not Momentum members?

Battleax · 23/01/2018 11:32

I really must get my tax return finished today, but then I'll happily help.

EamonnWright · 23/01/2018 11:36

'I think they'd immediately throw us all out. (But I can't say I care.) Then we'd be something else. Continuity Labour*

The party formerly known as Labour Smile

Battleax · 23/01/2018 11:42

Ha Smile

BeyondWW · 23/01/2018 11:42

Childbirth? Wink Grin

crustychristmastree · 23/01/2018 11:45

Thanks hammer.

A colleague was subjected to a peeping tom under her changing cubicle at a swimming pool with mixed changing areas. The same one where we take the children with Sen for their swimming lessons. He was found guilty. We use separate changing areas for the children but some have to get changed in the main cubicles. We have had some issues in the past with men hanging around at the same time in the past.

Hammerofthetwat · 23/01/2018 11:47

Do you guys remember Labour getting into bed with PIE? This to me is as big a mistake as that. Wait till the attacks on women in our spaces become daily. When women prisioners are attacked. It’s letting a fox into a hen house. And shutting the gate tight.

crunchymint · 23/01/2018 11:48

Yes, another example of them thinking they are being liberal.

Hammerofthetwat · 23/01/2018 11:51

Quite. I have all the magazines from that era, a friend got them to me. They are illuminating. As is the Islington care home scandal. The mayor took the flack for Harman and Hodge. But a new investigation is being open and will be independent. Finally those kids might get some acknowledgement of what they went through. For political correctness, and ill thought out “progression”.

Datun · 23/01/2018 11:57

Wait till the attacks on women in our spaces become daily.

What really pisses me off about this is that we have to wait for something extreme to happen. Probably many things.

In the meantime, any man, whether pervy or just misogynistic can, with the flick of an eye, or smirk of the face, make women squirm.

No laws broken. Nothing to go on.

EamonnWright · 23/01/2018 12:00

Got a call back from a woman from the SDLP, Labour's sister party here. They don't even have a policy on the GRA! 'Party Conference is in a couple of months and we hope to formulate policy by then'.

Left my details and Claire Hanna will call me back. Probably the most capable member of the assembly, although that's not a great Yardstick.

I mentioned the furore over AWL in Labour to the receptionist and her tone softened and I got the distinct whiff of TERF off her.

Theresnonamesleft · 23/01/2018 12:04

Hammer have you got more info on the Islington scandal?
I was one of the kids that originally spoke to the media. I gave statements to the police before it originally broke but haven’t heard
About the new invesgation.
Pm is fine.

Ohforfoxsakereturns · 23/01/2018 12:12

Part of being a woman is dealing with male violence. I don’t know of one woman who hasn’t had some form of harassment/sexual assault. Be it a slap on the arse in a night club to rape. All the men in my life have been abusers of some degree. I AM suspicious. I don’t trust men, I assume they are at best opportunists and at worse predatory.

It makes me want to cry when I think of my girls being subjected to this. Part of me knows it WILL happen. It sickens me. I have no doubt that a man will abuse the unisex policy. For either sport, to humiliate or abuse.

Bullying, humiliation, embarrassment, all ways of claiming power over someone. This whole thing is about Male supremacy.

When my daughter is getting harassed in a night club, she’s a bit drunk and feels out of her depth - there will be no loo to escape to with her mates.

She can’t shop and show her friends how it looks as she’s trying clothes on in the communal area. Or step out and ask for help, half undressed, needing a different size.

If a man will wank at a bus stop in the early evening, or stand in the street with his penis in his hand at 6pm, he’s probably going to make his way into a ‘unisex’ space to get his kicks.

Hammerofthetwat · 23/01/2018 12:15

I’ll inbox later poppet. The gazette has stuff. I’ve only seen what’s out there, and I have all the PIE labour stuff, but I do know someone on my Facebook who knows Sandy. I’m so sorry you went through this my darling, it’s breaking my heart. xxx

BelaLugosisShed · 23/01/2018 12:18

Be in no doubt that if this self id goes through, the next push/ campaign will be to remove single sex exemptions from the Equality. Trans groups are already talking about it and not even in private >

A response from one of the women I cc'd in to my email.

"I also consider myself a feminist, I see the gains of the women's movement under attack everywhere - but I don't think they're under attack from trans women. The nec is restating party policy, apparently a rule change went through at conference last year."

So, apparently it is party policy and a rule change was voted through conference last year. I await the wording with interest.

The more I read through that response the more my blood pressure goes up, how in HELL are we not under attack from trans women when they get women removed women's officer posts and tell young lesbians they are wrong for not wanting their penises inside them? How does she qualify the word 'attack' then?

I have to get off the internet for the sake of my blood pressure.

LefkosiaTigers · 23/01/2018 12:24

Who is that response from, LyTin? A local officer, MP, Labour rep?

LefkosiaTigers · 23/01/2018 12:28

I am never voting Labour again. Neither will my parents, who I have explained the matter to. Lifelong Labour voters from the party's Welsh heartland. They will also mention it to their friends and relations, also Labour stalwarts. If Labour is not careful, they will lose their core supporters.

Theresnonamesleft · 23/01/2018 12:28

Thanks hammer

Deadlylampshade · 23/01/2018 12:29

Oh my god that response is so fucking annoying. ITS NOT ABIUT TRANS WOMEN ITS ABOUT MEN PRETENDING TO BE TRANS AND CHANGING THE LEGAL DEFINITION OF THE WORD WOMAN. Arrrrrrfhggghggjgbhhhgggg

LyTinWheedle · 23/01/2018 12:30

I'm not sure how outing this will be to the people I emailed so this will be my last post under this NN.

The name on the email was Christine Shawcroft, from her blackberry approx 10-20 mins after I sent the it. So attention being given even now to people contacting them. I don't know how politics works normally so whether this means anything I don't know.
