AIBU GoFundMe addiction

I've recently become addicted to a Gofundme campaign. Every time I press refresh the total raised has jumped up and I don't seem to be able to stop.

I'm trying to stay within Mumsnet rules here, so obviously I can't link or promote it.

Does anyone else have this enjoyable problem?

I am not sure. I have no issue being straightforward on here but when it comes to people I know in real life..I have issues because I am scared of the abuse I would get in real life, basically. I barely know this guy..was at school with him. Don't know what hes like now tbh. I have actually removed him now, and DH is still arguing with him. They are now onto how 'loads of women' make false rape allegations. DH is really taking this dickhead to task mind. A lot of DHs friends are sticking up for women too, its actually quite nice to see as usually men just sit back and let the idiots talk bollocks (BB is a good example of that, only Shane J was willing to tell the guys they were wrong)

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this. I've donated, and I'm not a member of the labour party. I've also shared it on facebook. I've had very few discussions about trans issues in real life (and none online), so it'll be interesting to see what the reactions are.

I've reported Eve's tweet to Twitter and the Guardian

Disgusting that people are resorting to outright lying in an attempt to shut this down. Not surprised though.

A screen shot of the lying tweet may be useful in court, it didn't work out for Katie Hopkins.

Interesting that Eve acknowledges that her complaint has no validity beyond the fact that she personally doesn't agree with it, but she's happy to lie to get her own way anyway. And she deigns to lecture us mere plebs on issues of morality and social justice...

Ok. Response from TRA supportive men: well there shouldn't be AWS anyway, it's sexist and blocks talent (by which they mean the men who'd obviously be better than anyone with xx chromosomes)

Response from TRA supportive women: how cruel and evil to fight for your right to political representation before you've solved child poverty, funded all refuges and finished the washing up!

I think my favourite response on twitter so far (and I missed the tag name, sorry- several links to these threads so it may well be a mnetter!)

Also the very obvious point: the AWS places mean politics, planning and decisions including the actual lived experience of women: that was what was missing. That cannot be provided by a transwoman. No more than a woman can represent and speak for the lived experience of a transwoman. It's all jolly nice and validating but it erases the whole actual point of having AWS in the first place and distances women and their lives even further.

I wonder how the go fund me campaign for transgender taxi fares is going? Apparently none of us could imagine what it's like facing the risk of sexual violence as we return from our nights out.

To be fair, my dad likes giving people lifts. Maybe I should volunteer him as a trans uber, I'd hate for anyone to be at risk of violence. Me and my sister will take our chances with the night bus.

I wish I had more spare to donate so I could do it in the name of Little Owen Jones - roll on pay day
