I've recently become addicted to a Gofundme campaign. Every time I press refresh the total raised has jumped up and I don't seem to be able to stop.

I'm trying to stay within Mumsnet rules here, so obviously I can't link or promote it.

Does anyone else have this enjoyable problem?

There was an outraged statement from LGBT Labour retweeted by Sarah Champion and I made the mistake of reading the comments. Where they find the abuse and hate in the go fund me statement is beyond me.
I always had time for Sarah Champion but she seems to have signed up she even tweeted a selfie of herself and Madigan at the Women’s Network Christmas party.

This is great, thanks for sharing!

i was thinking of doing something similar Bee but also printing out the Sages leaflet and leaving it in places like doctors surgeries, libraries, church halls, local shops etc

I think we will get £10k by the end of the day. Pretty impressive considering it is all small donations at the tightest time of the year. I will put in more come payday and I am sure many others are in a similar situation.

guardianfree · 14/01/2018 18:22

Some clever person has managed to get the link on the comments section under a Times article. Applause!!

catgirl1976 · 14/01/2018 18:39

Gold star for that person Grin

SonicBoomBoom · 14/01/2018 19:02

It's even better that people are only donating small amounts, because the it's the number of people donating that is as, if not MORE, important to show how many people so fundamentally disagree with this.

Can someone link to the Times article?

Redonionricedpotato · 14/01/2018 19:20

Even rich famous celebrities donating now!!

“The rights of that trans person to feel safe were put above the rights of me to feel safe as a natal woman,” Molloy said

That's basically it nutshelled.

busyboysmum · 14/01/2018 19:41

Nearly at £10,000 now!

catchyjem · 14/01/2018 19:48

I've made a small donation, wish I could afford more. It feels good to try and do something.

Womensplaceisintherevolution · 14/01/2018 20:03

I've rejoined mumsnet after a break due to this thread :) I've just donated to go fund me for the first time and have shared the link to my Facebook page. I was pretty shocked at reading the comments on the petition. I'm not a political person and wouldn't describe myself as a feminist but I have a young daughter and am becoming worried about the possibility of losing female only spaces.

I'm thinking this one is real...

Oh I hope so!

explodingkittens · 14/01/2018 20:10

Donated. Some of the comments are pretty grim.

grafittiartist · 14/01/2018 20:20

Done. The amount doesn't matter- the number of voices does.

Geronimoleapinglizards · 14/01/2018 20:23

I'm really enjoying watching it rise.

It's always hard to gauge how many women feel strongly about this issue. Looking at twitter, I can't tell how many people are posting and how many of the loudest voices are the same people speaking up on here.

But nearly £10k in such a short space of time - well there's no denying that lots and lots of people care about this issue. It's not a minority at all.

OddBoots · 14/01/2018 20:27

I agree, there must be many people (mainly women, I imagine) who feel strongly about this, it isn't like a petition that costs nothing but 30 seconds to sign, people are putting their hard earned money into this and it is amazing to watch.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/01/2018 20:30

Yes, I almost hope the fact of all of these women donating will have an impact on its own...

TheGrumpySquirrel · 14/01/2018 20:56

Well I joined twitter. Lost a full night's sleep to the madness. How can this be real? I understand men shitting on us from a great height, but women?

I did read a comment complaining 'ten grand, that's more than we can raise in a year, how depressing'. Cheered me right up.

SadKitty86 · 14/01/2018 21:11

After payday I will be donating again. I've just got a wonderful warm feeling looking at all those donations.

It means more than just a quick sign on a petition, I agree.

PricklyBall · 14/01/2018 21:14

Haven't yet joined twitter, too much of an old gimmer. But have been surfing around other people's accounts, and one of the people Jennifer James links to, goes by the handle Hattie J, has this absolute gem on there...
