@48harv I totally know that it is not a choice. Nowadays the thing with the 'gender fluid' etc are a bit different.

Can I ask when you fully transitioned (age)? Don't answer if you do not wish to.

Must go and do dinner.

48harv · 19/01/2018 20:08

I was 43 years old

48harv · 19/01/2018 20:23

And if I could have had the op at 13 I would have jumped at it, as it is I was born to early.

48harv · 19/01/2018 20:32

Truthfully I have never wavered from my decision, it was100% right for me, then and now.and without sounding melodramatic I wouldn’t be here still if I hadn’t transitioned when I did, the Friday I decided it was time I saw only one other avenue to finally resolve the issue. It was a very close call.

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2018 20:35

Oopse sorry, cross posted, that happens a lot here!

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2018 20:37

Glad it worked out for you.

48harv · 19/01/2018 20:46

I want to thank you all for allowing me to come on this forum, I am not sure why I did , I usually avoid discussing this issue and to live quietly not making waves or such like It was different talking to you thanks a lot ladies

48harv · 19/01/2018 20:48

Ps hope your family enjoyed dinner hehe😊

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2018 20:57

@48harv my family are very fussy and never enjoy anything I cook! Iong for the day they invent a pill I can eat instead of food (I'd be slimmer too!)
Wink

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:07

My first job after school was as a cook , I did that job for 13 years perhaps you should imply me 🤪🤪

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:08

That employ not imply

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:11

Once as a bet with some friends I prepared an 11 course meal for ten, people half of them wanted to go to sleep after about the 9 th course we were at the table for 4.5 hours.

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2018 21:15

I hope they were small plates! (That's my mother talking!)

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:28

Yes it was small portions, the last being buscuits and a cheese board if I remember rightly

SophoclesTheFox · 19/01/2018 21:29

you may be surprised but I suffered a very heavy dose of the menopause

You say you enjoy the honesty here, so here it comes.

Please don't do this. Whatever hormonal upsets may have happened to you, they were not the menopause. That is a condition that specifically affects women. It is harmful to women for you to appropriate female experience like this. Your own experience is different. Own your own stuff, and let us own ours.

McTufty · 19/01/2018 21:33

@48harv thank you for coming here and engaging constructively, I believe the debate needs more of this

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:48

Dear Sophocles .... it was diagnosed by a qualified doctor to be the symptoms of the menopause because I was by then on a very high dose of the female hormone estradiol And had been for 3 months, I am only stating what was said to me.

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:52

There are also new theories that even men suffer a type of menopause not the same as women of course,

48harv · 19/01/2018 21:57

Thank you dear McTufty, as I said I rarely disclose my past but it’s been good to air it to you all, thanks for your responses. It’s refreshing to see that time has advanced the tolerance for people like me.

SophoclesTheFox · 19/01/2018 22:00

The symptoms of menopause are caused by low oestrogen. Estradiol is used to treat menopause by replacing the missing oestrogen. You couldn’t suffer the symptoms of menopause by taking too much oestrogen.

Trans women don’t go through menopause.

SophoclesTheFox · 19/01/2018 22:01

Men don’t go through menopause.

SophoclesTheFox · 19/01/2018 22:04

My responses are brief as my phone is on the fritz. But as a women who suffered for years with gynae problems, including early menopause, I simply will not stand for the experience being appropriated willy nilly like this. It’s not Ok.

48harv · 19/01/2018 22:28

Dear Sophocles I have no desire to offend you but
Men do suffer a type of menopause it’s clasified as ANDROGEN a tetesterone deficiency older men suffer, now multiply that deficiency with a huge increase in oestrogen (hrt) and the symptoms mirror the female menopause which in my case lasted for 6 months, this is all true , not a silly fantasy by a trans woman, and if you are offended then I am sorry.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 19/01/2018 22:31

The "male menopause" (sometimes called the "andropause") is an unhelpful term sometimes used in the media to explain the above symptoms.

SophoclesTheFox · 19/01/2018 22:36

The fact that you think six months of suffering whatever you suffered with is what menopause feels like only illustrates that we are not talking about the same thing.

Menopause lasts for a number of years.

Your experience is yours. It is not a female experience. You may not colonise this.

“if you are offended then I am sorry” - the classic non apology. At any rate, I don’t accept it, dear 48.
