Labour party invents new bollocks made-up non-existent definition for woman

pisacake · 11/01/2018 14:29

labour.org.uk/members/get-involved/national-youth-elections-2018/

Sixteen uses of the word 'self-defining woman'. Zero uses of 'female', 'biology', or plain 'woman'.

'Woman' is now literally meaningless. A woman can be a bog-standard heterosexual teenage male (Lily Madigan), if he says so.

And obviously with half the places reserved for 'self-defining women' (not 'women', 'self-defining women'), then there's not really any reason why men wouldn't define themselves a women, is there?

If misogynistic shits like Lily Madigan can 'self-define as a woman', well ALL men are women, aren't they?

The whole bloody human race is 'self-defined women'.

Stupid Labour.

How the fuck have I got to middle age without realising how much some men truly hate women, and how ingrained and normalised this stuff is in society? How have we reached a position where so many women are ok with it and see it as their lot in life?

So much this Glitterypinksoap

I've always considered myself a feminist but since being middleaged and menopausal it's like waking up and properly, clearly seeing just how much misogyny and basic disregard for women there is. It's absolutely rage inducing!!!!

It's as if we're not regarded as full human beings in our own right and so not really worth any consideration, and certainly not if it comes at the expense of a penis bearer........sobs quietly into some Gin...

Elendon · 13/01/2018 17:21

If you google jennifer james you come up with a lot of them. It's not helpful.

I hope I haven't wasted my money in donating. I'll be bloody angry if I have.

Glitterypinksoap · 13/01/2018 17:30

Look for Two Flames on twitter Elendon

Elendon · 13/01/2018 18:00

Thanks Glittery that helps a lot.

Batteriesallgone · 13/01/2018 18:01

I’ve donated.

I experienced discrimination because I was perceived to be pre-pregnant (mid-late twenties, LTR) then because I was pregnant and now because I’m a mother.

Before I was married and pre-pregnant I didn’t see much discrimination, so I understand why the youth vote aren’t getting it. I even understand why young women might think they are ok and they should make room in the ‘woman’ category. Sad

Elendon · 13/01/2018 18:05

Oh and I've gone beyond this sentiment

I've always considered myself a feminist but since being middleaged and menopausal it's like waking up and properly, clearly seeing just how much misogyny and basic disregard for women there is. It's absolutely rage inducing!!!!

When I hit 39/40. Definitely still ovulating then (had a baby a year later).

I now rage quietly, love the men and the women in my life who are wonderful, and don't give a shiny for the rest.

"At a women's thing at work the other day, a woman put her hand up and said she was worried about straight white men being marginalised. Our company is about 85% straight white men!

What did you read that as Up ? Was it virtue signalling to the men in the room or guilt at holding a women's thing at all?"

Glitterypink - a little from column a and a little from column b I think. I think the main driver is probably, given that the company is 85% straight white male (that's an estimate for my location), and they definitely hold the positions of power (representation is better in jobs lower down the hierarchy), to say, look, this all seems important so I've come, but please don't think I'm an awful feminist, really I'm on your side". From a job/prospects/image point of view this makes sense. The powerful men in the room will think, this is a woman we can work with. Now, I doubt any of this is conscious, on either side.

The whole thing was a bit of a non event really, the whole all gender 3rd wave empowerment stuff has really declawed feminism, even though there were lots of women in the room and amongst the speakers who saw clearly that good old fashioned sexism was alive and well but more subtle these days, at least in companies like ours, and want to change things. You have to be careful though. Men hate it, and they are in charge.

UpABitLate · 13/01/2018 18:21

declawed? defanged? not sure what the best word is. Have made it sound like cats fighting which is not a good outcome Grin

Ereshkigal · 13/01/2018 18:51

IMO what gender-critical feminists need to do to force everyone (lawyers, politicians, policy makers) to define terms. Demand coherent, non-circular definitions of the following: woman, man, girl, boy, sex, gender. Trans ideology depends on nobody doing this. We need to stick to exposing the central contradiction at the heart of gender identity doctrine: namely, that you cannot 'identify' as something that is ontologically meaningless, let alone make law and policy based on categories that have been emptied of any coherent definition.

I think a big part of the problem is without bringing law into it they don't think they need to. They get some policies written or advised on by trans pressure groups, that's that box ticked.

NotTerfNorCis · 13/01/2018 19:27

Latest twist on the funding: Guardian journalist Eve Livingston lied in a complaint to GoFundMe - then told everyone what she'd done?!

"Yeah the reporting is a nightmare. I said I was in a legal dispute with the organiser - I’m not but I wanted to report it on legal grounds so said in the complaint that it contravenes the Equality Act by discriminating against people because of transgender identity."

Redonionricedpotato · 13/01/2018 19:41

What an utter disgrace Eve Livingston is, I hope she enjoys her pathetic virtue cookies that she’ll earn from her despicable actions.

BatShite · 13/01/2018 19:50

I wonder if gofundme will cave into the pressure or not..I am thinking they will but hoping they don't. The pressure will get worse too, with loads of TRAs sending in total lies and misrepresentations. I dread to think what goes on behind the scenes when companies allow gender critical (or even just..pro-woman, if we are honest here) comments and such.

LapdanceShoeshine · 13/01/2018 19:56

This guy nails it perfectly. I don’t know who he is but he’s great!
(He was responding to someone saying transwomen are women.)

I really hope they don't cave. It's terrifying if there are some opinions we can't express in a democracy, especially when it's something so basic, e.g. that people born with penises are male.

Glitterypinksoap · 13/01/2018 20:05

Just followed one of the twitter threads decrying this as 'hate' - over 100 tweets and the massive majority pointing out that the emperor is stark bollock naked. Outside the liberal elite bubble this does not fly. I wonder how long it's going to take Corbyn and co to notice.

Although either way this is a win: if a legal challenge is mounted and it wins, great. (And it should, Labour are breaking the law.) If a legal challenge fails, the publicity and outrage will be huge. Much of what will bring this lunacy down is shining enough light on it for the general public to see clearly what's going on.

Yes, absolutely, trans rights, trans spaces, trans provisions: however these cannot be taken from female ones.

Which brings it back to the core of the argument: for the political ideologues pushing this it's not about wanting or needing any of those provisions and they don't give a crap about the vulnerable people in the trans community who do. This is about personal validation, which involves erasing and colonising woman.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 13/01/2018 20:31

Has twitter really changed on the last few months? I'm not on there but it feels like a few months ago whenever it was linked on transport threads there were a few GC voices crying in the wilderness and recently (post Madigan?) that seems to have shifted a lot? Is that the case? Are we approaching peak trans?

I had to peak trans dh last year and now he's our staunchest ally do I do get that it's a process for lots of us on the left...

NotTerfNorCis · 13/01/2018 20:36

Search for the #peaktrans tag. There's more tweets on it all the time, a lot more recently.

Cake2018 · 13/01/2018 20:40

As anyone can now self define as a woman (according to Labour), would our friend Lily mind having a donated Uterus from a self defining woman as opposed to an adult human female? You know for when she gets pregnant like tomorrow. Trans women are woman right?

BatShite · 13/01/2018 20:43

Indeed. I am positive that the general public do not agree with the transactivist narrative that woman is simply a state inside ones head. Nor do many know whats actually going on with this shit. All it took to 'peak' a few friends was letting them know male rapists are in female prisons currently. They said that it was false made up transphobic shit to start with. After finding out it was actually real, they have turned quite...TERFy Grin

BatShite · 13/01/2018 20:44

I see the cult have turned up in the comments

Trans women are women. The end.
An upsetting waste of time, energy and resources. Trans women are women.

MiMi78 · 13/01/2018 20:56

Trans women are the most oppressed of all oppressed... I've just been told to 'die cis cunt' from one of them on Twitter Grin

HermioneWeasley · 13/01/2018 21:00

Donated

QuentinSummers · 13/01/2018 21:16

I did see today Lily was unsuccessful in her application to the Jo Cox programme. Maybe the PLP thought that would be just too far....

catgirl1976 · 13/01/2018 21:16

Out of interest - Lily Madigan didn't get a place on the Jo Cox foundation. She's announced this on her twitter feed

catgirl1976 · 13/01/2018 21:17

Ha - cross post Quentin
