I wonder if the rest of the series will be shelved due to the outcry of TRAs Grin

Didn't Papa Lazarou read the shipping forecast?

No that was Pam Doove Independentstateofeyebrows

Elendon · 19/12/2017 14:51

This is Pam Doove. Which will explain a lot! Laughing so much.

BelaLugosisShed · 19/12/2017 16:59

I also doubt that Teenagers/early 20s will have heard of LOG. They’re all quite young at my work and don’t get my RoystonVasey references ( my surname is Vasey Wink ) .

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/12/2017 17:01

Is LoG really that old? Confused

OP posts:
MrsJayy · 19/12/2017 17:06

Are you ready for this LoG first aired in 1999 Shock

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/12/2017 17:07
Shock

OMG that makes me feel so old

I introduced my 17 year old daughter to league of gentlemen today...parenting goals Grin

OlennasWimple · 19/12/2017 17:19

Loved it back then, love them now

Independentstateofeyebrows · 19/12/2017 18:26

Ah thanks Father and Elendon Grin

MymbleClement · 19/12/2017 19:39

My 21 year old colleague is a fan so some youngsters are aware of it.

Encouragingly a transperson has popped up on the Guardian review comments to complain about the depiction of Barbara 'MTF trans deserve to have their voices heard' etc etc and been shot down by a ton of people who quite rightly pointed out that absolutely every character in LoG is a grotesque!

Nuffaluff · 19/12/2017 19:53

Surely Babs is one of the most normal, likeable characters on there.
I always had a soft spot for her.
Pauline was the best though. Going to watch it tonight- I can't wait.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 19/12/2017 20:24

Oh that was brilliant! It's always a worry when they do these reunion things that it will all fall a bit flat but it was like it had never ended.

Loved ACRONYM!

No Enid. I haven't watched the first episode yet but after watching tonight's I realise I'd forgotten how funny yet how uncomfortable it makes me feel. Very close to the mark and grotesque humour which I think you either 'get' or you don't.

Killdora · 19/12/2017 22:45

I was wondering what they would do with Barbara (funnily enough my favourite character back in the older series)

They didn’t disappoint, it was spot on.

(I actually feel that the old Barbara is exactly the sort of person having their lives made harder by TRA’s now)

I thought the same about the bingo caller scene. It was very cleverly done. To my shame I had a little snigger at the start. Because it's a comedy, right? Then it went on and became very poignant, sad and sweet, as you say. But that is why LOG is so good, I think.

LizzieSiddal · 19/12/2017 23:34

I've never watched this before as it scares me a bit, but decided to watch tonight.

What a joy, especially ACRONYM Xmas Grin

Poor Pauline

Watch the League of Gentleman!
ShoesHaveSouls · 20/12/2017 00:17

Oh I loved it so much. Will be interesting to see if the TRA's do go after them...something tells me they wouldn't dare. The writers are too intelligent, too witty. Nobody wants a Twitter smackdown.

ShoesHaveSouls · 20/12/2017 00:30

Co-creator Jeremy Dyson continued: “Gender politics isn’t really about gender politics. It’s about something else. There’s something else lurking underneath it.”

Mmm. So true. I'm mentally filing that away for when I doubt myself - for when I read Owen Jones saying I'm on the wrong side of history, when I'm told I'm a bigot, phobic, told I'm like the people who brought in clause 28. For when I read people saying #No Debate Transwomen are women.

GrockleBocs · 20/12/2017 00:47

I've enjoyed the 2 shows so far. It's been a long time coming and it hasn't disappointed :)
Jeremy Dyson's image of something lurking below the surface is very LoT and the double think of biology not existing does feel equal to the surreal world of Royston Vasey.
It was fine when Barbara was Barbara but now nobody knows what's going on. A pink cab of confusion. With a gay man dressed up as a naked heterosexual woman as a side note.
