Because everyone gets free hair removal with local anaesthetic and the right to any surgery they want on the NHS, don't they.

It's pure bigotry to deny these to the most oppressed people in the universe.

Of course, the Times is now being shouted down as the most transphobic newspaper ever ( #nodebate and all that).

I have very dark hairy legs, surely if a man gets free hair removal on the NHS to look more like a woman then I should too.

I hope it gets picked up in the Scottish press. It is very relevant to them. Especially with the upcoming bill and the Edinburgh ATH manifesto.

It is truly shocking what MPs have been prepared to listen to, and what they have closed their ears to.

Really good to see this covered in the Sunday Times. Obviously we've all known for ages that Action for Trans Health are a dangerous bunch of bigoted extremists, but the mainstream press has ignored the story so far. They're all too busy falling over themselves to print lovely, fluffy stories of "brave" trans people switching gender.

Interesting to see that the overwhelming majority of the comments are critical of Action for Trans Health. Let's hope it's a sign the tide is turning.

I'm glad the manifesto has been published in the press. People need to realise that this agenda stretches far beyond the GRA, and know what it is that publically funded and government supported bodies are really lobbying to achieve. Informed choice.

It's also a bit baffling that when these tweets/articles/videos and manifestos are shared publically through the press, instead of the TRA community saying yes, exactly, great to have this publicised, and standing behind their message, instead there is a rush of 'how transphobic to have published that and let the general public see it!' fury.

That to me says pretty much all you need to know.

And that article lists almost everything I sent to my MP three months ago with screenshots evidencing it all, and the manifesto, with an inquiry as to why the government were funding this group and inviting them to select committees.

He hasn't answered me.

The manifesto is faintly terrifying. Really pleased The Times are covering this.

'There will be no clinics, and no authorities. We will conduct our own research, and experiment with our own bodies. We will heal and grow together. We will accumulate knowledge and share it freely and accessibly. We demand nothing less than the total abolition of the clinic, of psychiatry, and of the medical-industrial complex. We demand an end to capitalist & colonialist “medicine”

We demand hormones & blockers are made available over-the-counter and by free prescription upon request. We need free, universal access to safe hormones & blockers at any age, the opportunity to decide our own doses, and universally accessible information on the safety & efficacy of different regimens. We are already taking hormones in this way, so this demand is simply that the danger of doing so is effectively mitigated..'

Blimey.

I like this article because it clearly lays out that government, schools, health services, and all our other institutions, are listening to trans extremists and shutting out all other voices.

Why did Maria Miller's report cite extremist trans organisations like ATH but ignore every single feminist voice, even moderate ones? Why is the government funding extremists?

I accept that every liberation movement will have its extremist, nutty fringe. It's not a trans thing. All movements have them. But I don't remember any liberation movement whose extreme fringe was a) taken seriously by government or b) the only voice heard in an important debate.

Transactivism has been hijacked by its extreme fringe (and an extreme fringe only interested in TIMs; never TIFs). That's the power of patriarchy for you.

The Times missed the most bizarre statement:
We demand the right to multiple surgeries, including reversal of previous surgeries if desired, so that we do not have to fear regret.

Unfortunately fearing regret is part of life. And if cut off your breasts or penis & testicles, you can't get them restored.

Oh and this gem:

'We demand immediate release & pardon for all trans prisoners.'

I actually find it terrifying that ATH is one of the groups advising the government on changes. And giving advice to schools.

They should be laughed at, and maybe locked up tbh, what with their encouragement of violence against 'terfs' and such.

Wow.

The 'all trans prisoners to be released' thing is even more bizarre when you consider they also believe that 'trans' means anyone who says they are trans, with no questions or demands for proof allowed.

It's good to see this extremism getting some coverage. People need to know what exactly they're condoning when they support 'trans rights' movements. Many are supportive in principle, thinking that it means being kind to non-conforming children, non-discrimination in the workplace, sex-change surgery for those with unbearable dysphoria. Few of those people would also support, e.g., releasing any and all violent criminals from prison, or 'total abolition' of life-saving modern medicine.

I think the all trans prisoners to be released probably goes with the 'trans people can't be guilty of anything' political belief.

Oh and can't be said to commit rape either.

The Times Is most certainly leading the way with this issue.

And of course ATH chose 'not to comment'. They have nothing to articulate, and no arguments to make.
