Lily is 19. Lily was instrumental in the hate campaign against Anne Ruzylo which resulted in her standing down.

You have to be a woman to be women’s officer but ‘The Labour councillor said that “lived experience as a woman” should be considered an advantage — but not a prerequisite — for the role of women’s officer.’

Lily could also have gone for the LGBT officer role but they didn’t want that. No, they wanted to show women that they can shit all over them and we will applaud them for doing it.

I’m absolutely furious about this ( as you can probably tell)

Nettle Shock

The whole frickin point of Twitter is to share stuff....

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 28/11/2017 23:34

No way is Adrie stepping down and if we dont stop harrassing him and sharing his tweets, we will be hearing from a solicitor.

Hold on, I may have muddled the timeline in my head or something, but wasn't Anne harassed by this person for her tweets? Suddenly its a huge issue to be sharing tweets? Bizarre

*If I have it wrong, ignore my post lol

NettleTea · 28/11/2017 23:41

yes, Anne was. absolutely,
he went back through her timeline and screenshot about 50 tweets where she had shared feminist stuff around the GRA.
he posted on the Hastings Momentum FB page that our womans officer was showing signs of being a TERF, and invited people to PM him for the evidence he had screenshot.

Datun · 28/11/2017 23:53

Can you take it higher? I’ve just been reading elsewhere about these sort of tactics.

"We transgender women cannot self identify our sex" from the Times:

It makes a welcome change for a transwoman to acknowledge the difficulties. But, in my opinion, she is not at all grasping the nettle.

Society grants trans people the right to change their legal sex, but we have responsibilities in return. Those of us socialised as boys need to think carefully before taking places in schemes designed to compensate the rather different formative experience of girls.

Firstly you weren’t socialised as a boy you were socialised as a man.

Secondly ‘thinking carefully’ before taking women’s positions doesn’t cut the mustard.

You can’t rely on careful thought. It does nothing to protect women!

christinarossetti · 29/11/2017 07:36

Quite. Trans women need to listen to and respect the objections of women. That comes before 'thinking carefully' and, as ever, is the but missing from the narrative.

QuentinSummers · 29/11/2017 07:46

Great article by Debbie Hatton there

Datun · 29/11/2017 07:48

How about we retain sex segregation. And after careful thought, we might let you in, as a courtesy, on a one to one basis.

Careful thought indeed. Snort.

Stopmakingsense · 29/11/2017 08:58

Great article on this subject by transgender woman in the Times today:

christinarossetti · 29/11/2017 08:59

Women cannot self-identify out of their oppression.

Trans women have been socialised as the sex which perpetuates this oppression.

I don't doubt the stone cold realities of biology and socialisation are painful for trans people. They certainly are for women, who are increasingly being pushed out of discussions and forums about their own experience.

MsBeaujangles · 29/11/2017 09:06

In the comments section of The Times article it says that a Labour Councillor who supports LM told women "You've lost and you will lose a bit more every day". Does anyone know who this is and where they said it?

ArcheryAnnie · 29/11/2017 09:10

The Chair from Battle received a reply. No way is Adrie stepping down and if we dont stop harrassing him and sharing his tweets, we will be hearing from a solicitor.

Bring it on!

All these fragile little boys wanting to be politicians, but having to idea what politics is like. And certainly having no idea what being a woman in politics is like.

Datun · 29/11/2017 09:15

When I read that my outrage was so palpable I think my heart rate went up.

The double standards are sickening.

This man waged a campaign against Anne by accessing her private Twitter and using her tweets as leverage. Leverage which should never have worked. Her retweeting gender critical articles is mild.

His, on the other hand, are absolutely vile.

Germ1360 · 29/11/2017 09:32

Re. that article in the Times, as soon as I got to the bit where Debbie stated "I am a Science teacher..." I knew who it would be. This article was in PhysicsWorld, the mag that the Institute of Physics sends you every month if you're a member "What can be done to increase the number of women in physics? I did my bit" live.iop-pp01.agh.sleek.net/2016/08/26/gender-balance-one-woman-at-a-time/

The "think carefully" about taking women's places surprises me not one bit coming from someone who thinks they're helping the number of girls studying Physics by transitioning, and coincidentally I was thinking the other day, that while you can certainly have role models of the opposite sex, if the field you're interested in is male-dominated and you have a TIM as your Physics teacher, it doesn't make you go "yeah, Physics is totally for women too".

SelmaAndJubjub · 29/11/2017 09:36

MrsBeau, it was Tris Osborne. He went on to call women 'bigots' and 'vipers' for objecting.

Note the jaunty little emoji. He feels good about putting women in their place Angry

Datun · 29/11/2017 09:42

What can be done to increase the number of women in physics? This question keeps committees busy and researchers funded, but the solution seems as elusive as squaring the circle. Four years ago, however, I did my bit: I transitioned from male to female.

I realise he was being a bit tongue in cheek. But, having read the article, this seems to be something he truly believed might happen!

If there’s one thing this business has really revealed to me, it’s quite how men and women navigate their lives in such different ways, one is almost unrecognisable to the other.

If that's @cllrtrisosborne, it looks like they protected their tweets last night. So much for openness and accountability.

Helo5 · 29/11/2017 10:03

Can’t believe Tris Osborne is openly admitting that women are losing something, and smugly revelling in it.

busyboysmum · 29/11/2017 10:11

That was awful on Twitter last night. Tris Osbourne should be disciplined about the things he was saying. In fact he has hidden his account now so I think he realises he was saying things he shouldn't and claiming that was the official Labour party response.

He so obviously hates women. And seemed to be gloating that a TIM had forced women out of the party. I think Labour need to wake up to the fact that women form half of the voting public.

I was thinking on the way to work this morning. If there was a BAME position available and an actual BAME person and a white person who identified as BAME were both up for the post. There would be an uproar if that white person got the post. I can't see where this is different.

Datun · 29/11/2017 10:25

busyboysmum

I’m hoping screen shots were taken? Have they surfaced anywhere?

nauticant · 29/11/2017 10:26

That's being discussed on twitter under cllrtrisosborne right now.

busyboysmum · 29/11/2017 10:27

I saw this posted this morning.
