I quite admire her tone of weary impatience, but if anyone is on Twitter and wants to thank/support her, here is the link: twitter.com/jessphillips/status/931093574011191296

Their complete wankery only works in favour of gender critical women.

Why don’t they see it?

Male fucking privilege.

fruitlovingmonkey · 18/11/2017 20:00

That twitter thread makes for very uncomfortable reading. I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight, between thoughts of a conspiracy.

BatShite · 18/11/2017 20:09

I have hope that this huge overreaction will just show her what women have been saying for a long time. That these males are just entitled narcisists. The amount of them wishing harm on her is ridiculous. A few 'cis' women are joining in with the abuse and parroting too though I guess, its not all males.

Is just stupid and demonstrably false also. WHy do they tell such blatant lies?

doctorcuntybollocks · 18/11/2017 20:12

Because it suits their interests to do so.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/11/2017 20:21

Well I think up till quite recently shouting 'TERF SCUM' at anyone who mildly suggests a debate or that someone with a dick is possibly a man has worked hasn't it?

There was a while there where no Guardian journalist went to an interview with a high profile person over the age of 40 without asking them if they thought sex change was a real thing because the fall out from someone like Richard Dawkins saying he thought sex was a biological fact was so deliciously lubricational to ones sales figures.

The Guardian in particular is going to need to have a good think about its editorial policy in this one or find itself doing a front page mea culpa when the GRA has to be revoked because of a spate of high profile sexual assaults...

Wrong side of fucking history indeed.

BatShite · 18/11/2017 20:24

Because it suits their interests to do so.

But they take seconds to refute?

Unless the point is that most will just take in the message, rather than actually looking to see if it is true.

In which case, surely nooone is stupid enough to believe them in the first place :S Even with no proof of it being false. I have seen so many claims that women with penises are more at risk of sexual assault than women with vaginas. FFS my 12 year old DSD would know that was false immediately..so surely adults would?!

LangCleg · 18/11/2017 20:26

@TammySwansonTwo

Yes! This is exactly it!

Even if you believe the "transwomen are women" mantra, how on Earth can you think self ID is a good thing?

You're saying that you can protect SOME women by removing protection from ALL women.

These people are so dense, it drives me up the wall.

doctorcuntybollocks · 18/11/2017 20:35

They don't need to believe it themselves, and they don't need to convince others if they can intimidate them into silence. It may seem as if forcing people to acquiesce in a laughably obvious lie should be impossible, but it must be possible because it's happening.

whoputthecatout · 18/11/2017 20:55

You only have to see how strange cults can persuade thousands of people to follow them to realise how easy it is to persuade people that black is white, up is down and the whole world is out of step except you and your followers.

TRAs have the same philosophy as any other cult. If we say something clearly crazy e.g. transwomen are women, often enough, people will eventually say, ah ok.

ginteresting · 18/11/2017 21:43

I have just shown my husband this thread and the twitter thread. Apparently we should change the conversation because he can’t believe I could have such views. He’s been to a stonewall convention recently so he’s the don in transrights. I explained I absolutely support transpeople and their rights as human beings. I have issues with womens rights being stolen, because the men have spoken. He told me I’m a bigot. He can not see the irony.

nauticant · 18/11/2017 21:51

Forget about logic, forget about consistency, this is about social media. The only thing that counts is being seen to be doing the right thinking. There is absolute no need to question beyond that and in any case there's danger in straying outside the orthodoxy.

What this needs is to get people from outside the bubble to look in and ask "what are they saying?" and "why do they think that?"

Gingernaut · 18/11/2017 22:02

Radio 4 are exploring Gender Identity on the Moral Maze tonight after the 10 o' Clock News.

If anyone is interested.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 18/11/2017 22:22

Apparently we should change the conversation because he can’t believe I could have such views.

Gin, ask him if he split up with you would he consider Danielle Muscato or Kellie Maloney as viable sexual partners? If not he's a transphobe.

ginteresting · 18/11/2017 22:28

He’s googling them now, il let you know.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/11/2017 22:33

Ask him what a woman is.

nauticant · 18/11/2017 22:34

Hahaha! Don't let him wriggle out of that one ginteresting.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 18/11/2017 22:35
Grin
QueenLaBeefah · 18/11/2017 22:39

Unless he is fully prepared to give a woman a blow job then he's a bigoted transphobe.

ginteresting · 18/11/2017 22:40

He said no, then prattled on and changed subject. He isn’t a knuckle dragging arsehole but he definitely bought into the stonewall trans cult like thinking. I think I have definitely won this one, thankyou.

QueenLaBeefah · 18/11/2017 22:42

So what we've learned is that women are expected to think trans women are women but men are allowed to think trans women are men.

ginteresting · 18/11/2017 22:48

Well of course, women’s opinions are stupid, irrelevant and at worse bigoted. But men are superior, women do know your place.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 18/11/2017 22:51

But it’s not that simple is it? Not every straight man thinks every straight woman is a viable sexual partner and vice versa. It seems obvious some group has organised the twitter thing as some protest or it could be a couple people using bots. Powhatan I find intriguing Is that the essentially calling those “ on the other side “ dumb or telling people what to think is exactly the same as those on MN, it’s exactly the same thing. I’m not saying either is right or wrong I just think it’s some kind of lack of self awareness when both think that each side is doing it.

Must not be nice for her and others. I’ve been hounded on twitter before and it’s horrible.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 18/11/2017 22:51

Powhatan??? What I find *

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/11/2017 23:06

But I don't see people here abusing transpeople. Or saying they should die. Or failing to engage with the argument. Or being intransigent.

In fact I think a lot of people here have come reluctantly to this position when they might have more naturally have sat happily in a liberal way of thinking about transpeople had they not felt backed into a corner by evermore ridiculous demands.

So no. I don't think it is the same.

ALittleBitOfButter · 18/11/2017 23:12

Ask him if he thinks trans children should be sterilised.
