Yes, I know he is a troll... But he is really fucking winding me up at the moment. He annoys me more than people like Katie Hopkins do!

He has been tweeting a lot today, and the past few weeks, about the importance of transgender acceptance. However, he isn't engaging with the many people disagreeing with him! He just posts another passive-aggressive tweet in response to concerns.

I just know we are going to get another shitty pro-trans article from him soon...

And Empress in case anyone is in doubt at the concerted bullying that goes on on Twitter, I can just say here that I'm into my 3rd day of responses to my politely worded request not to be labelled 'cis' tweeted as a reply to LOJ's thread about "transphobic" feminists.

I think the most mild response was to repeatedly call me a "bigot" and to tell me that "cis" meant 'simply' that I'm not trans. THere's is NOTHING simple about cis.

I've muted most of them, which makes for a more relaxed experience of Twitter & I can get back to the fun stuff.

The 2 main things I've noticed:

1. the transcultists don't really do reasoned argument
2. they are singularly acking in wit, or even a decent sense of humour

Aaaaaaaand it's now all kicked off on twitter again about todays articles.

Jones's schtick on Twitter is simply to repeat, over and over again, that the fight for trans rights is equivalent to the fight for gay rights, and that therefore anyone who opposes trans rights is a bigot. It's a way of avoiding having to think, I suppose - like repeating "Transwomen are women".

I do wonder if he can really be as stupid as he seems.

He’s one of the reasons why I left the Labour Party. I wonder if they know/care about how badly he reflects on the party.

Meanwhile loads of my Twitter timeline is cheering him on about the ‘all-out assault’ on trans people, and how trans people are under threat. But not by the violent men who do actually harm and kill trans people, nooooo - by radical feminists, clearly that’s the real danger! The fucking wilful blindness it takes to talk about trans POC sex workers in south/Central America being at risk (which is true!), but then blame it on feminists, not the men harming them. FFS.

But what on earth is it with the Guardian/Observer? Surely it's very bad form for their own journalists to be scrapping in public like this.

I think Owen Jones is becoming less and less convincing with his self righteous posturing, to be honest.

Any old fool can see that society having to redefine basic terms like man, woman, and biological sex - whose meanings have been universally understood for centuries - and then forcing everyone to go along whether they like it or not for the sake of a tiny minority, is nothing similar to the right of individuals to have relationships with whomever they please.

Being gay does not involve potentially becoming a life long medical patient, being given drugs from before the beginning of puberty, possibly being made sterile, and likely subject to invasive and painful surgeries.

It's just such an obvious false equivalence. Owen Jones wasn't around for the fight for gay rights. He missed it. He's now found a cause by which he thinks he can make his name. But it's backfiring on him, because no other civil rights cause has ever necessitated trashing the rights of others in order to win.

And Tanya Gold has joined in, pointing out Zoe W has done similar to her.

I can't see that tweet on Tanya Gold's timeline, can you link? (And the only tweet I can see on Zoe Williams' timeline complains about Catherine Bennett slating Owen Jones but doesn't reference the actual point at issue.)
