I've scrolled back a few pages and I can't even find the last pub thread.

So I've taken the beer towels off the pumps, tapped a new barrel, polished the glasses, fed the goat and applied brasso to the patriarchy busting canon.

Come and join me - all tastes catered for - beer, gin, wine, cocktails, coffee and a nice cup of tea.

BeyondNoone · 30/10/2017 18:05

Hi all. Things are better than they were, we are fighting through this rough patch. My mum missed her vocation in life as a marriage counsellor :)

Terrylene · 31/10/2017 12:31

That is good. We had a family member get through a serious crisis with DF/DFIL as counsellor. Hope it turns out as well.

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 05/11/2017 09:01

Well I had a good weekend. Peaktransed my friend on Friday evening.

Yesterday my brother and SIL came to visit (they live quite far away) and in discussion with my SIL discovered she was full on GC! We had quite a conversation! I pointed her in the direction of the feminist board too (if you are here - hiya!). Drank far too much wine in the process and rather buggered up my dinner buy hey

SerendipityFelix · 13/11/2017 08:59

Hello? Anyone in? I need a veggie fry up and a mimosa, please 😁 (it's ok, I'm not working today!).

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed feminism-wise at the moment. The tide turning on transactivists and acceptance of sexual harrasment at the same time giving so much hope. Is 2018 going to be the beginning of the end for patriarchy?

Here's a little something that made me happy over the weekend - my Lego 'Women of NASA' set arrived, I built it last night and its now displayed proudly next to the 'Research Institute' set (which depicts a female chemist, paleontologist and astronomer). Go Lego Grin also I learned about Mae Jemison and she is just the most amazing person, I can't believe I've not heard of her before. Probably being British and white has something to do with that. She went to Stanford at 16, and 21 graduated with TWO degrees in chemical engineering and African Studies, then became a medical doctor, served in the peace corps in Liberia and Sierra Leone, then an astronaut and the first black woman in space. She now runs companies developing technologies to improve people's lives, a charitable foundation, and she's a university professor. Oh and she's also a talented dancer and accomplished choreographer. How inspiring can one person be!

Terrylene · 13/11/2017 11:47

Hi - its been a bit quiet in here - lots going on outside, I hope.

Wow - how can one person hold so many careers up in the air at once! I might get the lego for my (now adult) DDs Hmm

Terrylene · 13/11/2017 12:19

I have seen a little gentle sharing of Janice Turner's article on my Facebook feed. Encouraging.

Thelilywhite · 13/11/2017 12:21

do you serve soup in here? its blimin freezin today! Failing that i'll have a mulled wine please and damn the consequences. I also had a good weekend - peak transed my DH! He wanted to know what I was spending so much time on - I was filling out the consultation on the scot govs GRA review. Gave him some edited highlights together with some also from the schools guidance just issued. Hes a bit 'PC gawn mad' but certainly understands- at last - why I am so afraid for women and children.

Datun · 14/11/2017 18:45

Fucking hell. Just line ‘em up on the bar. And if ain’t absinthe, it’s probably not gonna work.

I’m on the AIBU thread about the maths teacher who got suspended.

Women, falling over themselves, to dispense with their right to oppose a state sanctioned ideology.

Scotland disseminating information that says don’t tell the parents. And if parents oppose this, social services is a phone call away.

Jeez.

QuentinSummers · 14/11/2017 19:06

You are doing a great job datun but it doesn't all need to be you. Step away if it's too much, someone else will pick up the baton

Datun · 14/11/2017 19:15

QuentinSummers

It’s mind-boggling to me how women are so quick to give up their rights.

Clamouring for it, in fact.

It’s okay. I don’t tend to get overly pissed of with people on the actual thread. I’m very mindful of the people who are lurking.

For every person talking on the thread, there are 100 or more reading it. I’m speaking to them.

But still. What is wrong with people?

QuentinSummers · 14/11/2017 19:24

So ingrained in women to be "nice" and put others needs/wants ahead of their own. Many can't even see it.
Also not everyone posting is who they say and posters might have a political agenda to further. I feel like it's acceptable to have posts on FWR as it can be dismissed as just feminists/TERFS but when it goes on the main board some posters take exception.
Chin up though. Think how things were even 6 months ago x

Datun · 14/11/2017 19:26

Yes I take heart from the fact that there has been a tipping point for lots of people.

Thank you for your support.

I wish there was subject at GCSE called critical thinking.

Oh hadn't seen that thread. Will go and read.

Ereshkigal · 14/11/2017 19:39

Twice, if necessary Grin

whitehandledkitchenknife · 14/11/2017 20:32

Just popping my head around the door for a swift half oh go on then, I'll have a pint

I remain in awe at the eloquence and downright doggedness of all those who have taken the time to read, digest and disseminate so much information.
Datun - you are absolutely right - for every poster there must be a host of lurkers being brought up to speed. I am one of them. I thank you wholeheartedly for all that you are doing.

In other news - is anyone planning on going to Cambridge? I am. It's a long time since I was involved in anything which may be potentially bolshy and whilst I'm not intimidated by the potential, it would be good to join up.

Datun · 14/11/2017 23:09

I’m thinking of it whitehandledkitchenknife.

I’ll let you know if I am.

Datun · 14/11/2017 23:13

Ereshkigal

It’s really hard work. People are sticking the knife in because he is a Christian. Without the self-awareness to realise that they are supporting an equally belief based ideology.

And are enormously quick to concede their right to question the trans-ideology, whilst using a similar right to condemn religion.

RosaTheOwl · 14/11/2017 23:46

I was just starting to look up Dianic witchcraft and the first thing Google set to auto complete was "is Dianic witchcraft transphobic" FFS!!!!!!!

This weekend I met a woman who described herself as a militant feminist and I thought I'd be brave and ask her what she thinks about all this. Firstly she didn't seem to know anything about it, then I explained using the Travis example and she said "well I do think we need to respect how people identify". I explained the safety issue and she said "oh I hadn't thought of that".

I'm not having a go at her but I wish we could have some sort of public awareness campaign about this. Ironically my parents only know because they read a really shit newspaper- for once I'm glad they do.

BeyondNoone · 15/11/2017 08:32

I've been learning about and edging towards dianic wicca for a few months now. Ive found it very mentally soothing :)

RosaTheOwl · 15/11/2017 13:53

Beyond, if you have any resource recommendations, I'd love to hear them, only books I can find are way out of my price range.

I shouldn't really be on here but if you post anything I'll see it tomorrow.

Thanks!

SerendipityFelix · 15/11/2017 14:04

Popping in for a quick sandwich and small glass of vino to get the afternoon rolling (still on leave today!). I’m having an afternoon of cliché beautifying myself - just cut my hair and sorted my eyebrows out, done a face scrub and mask and heading out to get my eyelashes done in a bit. I’ve been pretty down lately so this is an effort to cheer myself up, I know I’ll feel better when I ‘look better’, and it is absolutely ‘for’ me rather than ‘for’ anyone else, but I do feel conflicted at times like this that my ingrained sense of ‘look good/feel good’ is dictated by confirming to a certain standard of beauty deemed acceptable for women...if that makes sense. It’s my choice, but it’s not my choice as well. Ho hum.

Blanchefleur · 15/11/2017 16:46

Rosa, have you read The Spiral Dance by Starhawk? You can get it second hand for under a tenner on Amazon marketplace if you don't mind waiting for postage from the USA.

There's also The Witches' Goddess by Janet and Stewart Farrar, available second hand on Amazon market place for around a fiver.

It's more pagan than Dianic, but Hedgewitch by Rae Beth is a great introduction to solitary witchcraft and doing rituals on your own (sorry, I don't know if you are new to the whole pagan thing or just specifically to Dianic wicca).
