I've scrolled back a few pages and I can't even find the last pub thread.

So I've taken the beer towels off the pumps, tapped a new barrel, polished the glasses, fed the goat and applied brasso to the patriarchy busting canon.

Come and join me - all tastes catered for - beer, gin, wine, cocktails, coffee and a nice cup of tea.

New name change - wish I didn't have to but I am a long time poster. I never come in here but what a week - I need a Wine

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:04

And yes Guardian - so many threads and am totally confused about where and what I've posted.

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:04

Cheers rowdy

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:06

Do you think there are loads more posters all of a sudden - drawn here by the Labour Party stuff?

Its more full-on than AIBU!

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:08

I prefer those really long threads that have a part II part III etc - you can develop thoughts - these short, plentiful one means loads of fantastic points people make are going to be lost forever.

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:14

I do think there are quite a few new posters - although all the labour social media targeting has resulted in lots of people name changing as well so it's hard to tell. I was just being a bit paranoid - am not on any list but have posted quite a lot (all over the place) so felt the need to hide a bit

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/01/2018 21:22

I always feel like saying

Do i know you?

On threads where i think i recognise someone

But id feel like a tit if they said no Grin

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:24

In a way I think it is all part of the fun of MN - the name changes. I like it when people give clues of previous user names in their new ones.

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:26

Of course, I want to tell you who I am (was) .... which defeats the object. Grin

athingthateveryoneneeds · 28/01/2018 21:27

I feel quite worn out from the past few days. Worried about the future and how quickly things seem to be changing.

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:28

Rufus I so admire those 'stable' posters like Datun who don't name change and are consistently consistent (and wise and awesome)

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:28

Indeed - when the coast is clear - you can always change back to one of your old names - no harm done. Its a bit like a masked ball or something.

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:29

I like to speculate about whether I know or have met people in real life though - but I would hate to know for certain. It would really spoil it for me.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/01/2018 21:31

Oh you dont have to say rowdy Grin

Just say

Yes you do rufus

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/01/2018 21:32

Actually thinking about it that might be a bit scary Confused

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:32

athingthateveryoneneeds

It's exhausting isn't it?

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 21:39

It's exhausting isn't it?

I can't tell who to trust, whether a development is good or bad.

I think 'I can't believe this shower of shite' but on the other hand 'at least it will raise awareness of the issue' but 'what if this is part of a bigger agenda or distraction - do I need a tinfoil hat'?

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 21:47

It's the extent of it. On one hand I'm pleased that the delusions are getting the oxygen of publicity but on the other hand we have both party leaders having set out their stall in favour of self ID Sad

Unless there is a massive turn around when people really understand what self ID actually means (as opposed to having a GRC) then I can't see how either of them can retreat.

athingthateveryoneneeds · 28/01/2018 21:47

I keep second guessing myself, like, am I taking this too seriously? Is it a Twitter storm in a teacup? (I'm not on Twitter) Is it really as bad as I think?

And then I read about convicted sex offenders being painted as downtrodden women, or a thread on Reddit that made my stomach turn and NO. I'm not being overdramatic.

I'm also very grateful for posters like @Datun who always, always have a level headed response.

Someone said upthread that she was tired of the feminist board being overrun with trans threads. Me too, tbf, but it's my understanding that if GRA goes ahead all other feminist issues will be knocked back simultaneously. Maybe I'm wrong in my interpretation.

QuentinSummers · 28/01/2018 21:55

That was me. It's a big issue but sometimes I want to talk about other feminist things.
Talking about name changers, does anyone know what's happened to lass? Not seen her for a while. I hate it when posters vanish.

rowdywoman1 · 28/01/2018 22:04

I haven't seen Lass for ages. I don't always agree with her but I love her no nonsense dry approach to things

HairyBallTheorem · 28/01/2018 22:06

Yes, Lass is on my mental list of "mumsnet regulars I'd like to go for dinner with." I think she'd be very witty and entertaining, even though we don't agree about everything.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 28/01/2018 22:06

I also think there are too many trans threads. But to be honest, this is the current threat to women, so that's what I am concentrating on

Yes wondered about Lass too. Hope you are ok wherever you are

GuardianLions · 28/01/2018 22:31

Although things do look pretty grim out there - JJ's fundraiser is what 21.5ish K right now, well over a thousand donors.

There's a real feeling of being willing to put aside political differences in other areas and that is quite heartwarming.

I love the fact that solidarity between women, just for being women is starting to happen - although it was way before my time, I imagine it was a similar exciting feeling before the 2nd wave of feminism - maybe the 1st too.

I also feel that women are going to come out of hiding soon because we are aware of how many of us there actually are.

seafoodeatit · 28/01/2018 23:28

Can I come in? I'll have any drink going!

The whole trans issue is just bewildering. My DC goes to a 'stonewall' school so ofocurse they jumped on the bandwagon of making one of the two visitor bathrooms 'gender neutral' and the other for men, why aren't they both neutral then? They're identical inside. I'm paranoid they're going to try and foist their shitty messages on him.
