Tiffany Scott, formerly known as Andrew Burns, was led into the dock, half naked to the waist, wearing the remains of a shirt torn to shreds, before shouting vile abuse at a sheriff."

"Members of the public were cleared from the courtroom, amid fears that Scott, who has been known to bite open his own veins and spray blood at people, presented "a clear danger"."

"Scott shouted "f*g transphobe bd" and "c**" as Sheriff Livingston jailed him for a further year on five charges of assault and one of criminal damage, ordering the term to be served consecutive to his present, indeterminate sentence."

"The charges followed incidents between August and October 2015 while Scott, of Kinglassie, Fife, was in a segregation unit in Glenochil.

At the time, prison staff were complying with his requests that he should be known as "Mighty Almighty", or Obi Wan Kenobi."

"He covered himself in excrement which he also smeared round his cell door and over the observation port, and staged a self-hanging by shredding his tear-proof clothing into strips and making a noose, which he suspended from a sprinkler valve.

Warders – wearing full-body protective clothing, including helmet, visor, and gloves, and carrying 4ft by 2ft Plexiglass shields amid fears that Scott was armed with a medical cannula she had ripped from her body during hospital treatment – had to burst into her cell to save his life."

"Fellow prison officer Colin Park, 41, said Scott had told staff he had "weapons secreted", such as razor blades and needles, with which he could have harmed them, which was why he and his fellow officers had to wear full protective clothing to enter her cell and cut the noose from her neck during her attempted hanging."

That's exactly the kind of solution that is called for in these circumstances.

I’m sure he’s been pretty thoroughly psychiatrically assessed given his behaviour. I also suspect that the prison would happily have him transferred to a secure psychiatric hospital if they were able to! Which would lead us to conclude that he is not psychotic or unwell, but just a thoroughly unpleasant, violent, manipulative individual. I’m all for benefit of the doubt and tackling mental health stigma, but honestly from that report alone he does not sound vulnerable in the least. As a wonderful, comforting police officer said to me once (I’d been assaulted and was trying to justify why my attacker may have done it) “some people are just dicks, I’m afraid” .

It does highlight the absurdity of trans ideology, though, in a way that will ‘peak trans’ people. So in a way, he’s unwittingly doing feminism a favour.

So the man is clearly disturbed and violent. It sounds like he isn't getting anywhere near the right kind of treatment/support.

But FFS, who told those poor female warders to strip search a dangerous, violent man who was suspected of secreting weapons? And how on earth did we get to the point that this was even allowed? A point where they felt obliged to grit their teeth and perform a search rather than immediately refuse? Some transactivists should be ashamed of themselves. This is all to do with a massive shift in the prevailing culture which disadvantages women. Absolutely disgraceful.

I dont agree. Prisons are chock a block full of mentally ill people and he just sounds like another one. Severe mental illness is no barrier to being kept in prison which then strangely makes the condition worse and worse.

Severe mental illness cannot be turned on and off. Yes there are many honestly ill people in prison but there are those that play the game. There are known methods for getting an easier ride through a sentence. Pretending to be mentally ill through dirty protests and self harm. Threatening suicide so you are placed in seclusion and monitored. Legal complaints about your treatment e.g One of the Lee Rigby killers. Now claiming to be trans gender so you get access to females, your own cell and possible transfer to a 'softer' women's prison.
Until I hear of some evidence of mental illness instead of a history of violence and crime I will be suspicious.

I don't think that living in a room smeared with your own faeces or opening your own veins with your teeth can be described as an easy ride through anything tbh. If that's better than the average prison day then something is very wrong. I don't actually know enough about this individuals mental health to make a judgement to be honest, just pointing out that the idea that he couldn't be mentally ill cause if he was someone would have i) noticed and ii) done something about it is wrong.

I have studied criminology for some years and it is astounding the lengths people will go to in an attempt to control people and their environment. Dirty protests are widespread in prisons and their are many cases of people who self harm to cover up their crimes e.g stab themselves, head butt walls etc.
Having a strong knowledge of how prisons work I can assure you that episodes like these have to be investigated and preventions put in place where possible.

To be considered for Broadmoor he would have to present as a grave and immediate danger to others. Sounds like he is troubled but not significantly risky to others. He has an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR) he will only be released when he is no longer considered an “unmanageable risk to public safety

I am well aware of mental health but you can’t claim all that act like that are suffering. It’s actually a huge insult to those genuinely mentally ill, to assume they would act that way. I’ll save my sympathy for the poor Prison guards on a paltry wage that have to put up with cunts like HIM.

Just for reasons of the safety of all prison officers (whether male or female) there need to be individual handling procedures for the violent/volatile.

But one snag is that people only think of prison standards intermittently, if there is a major event, or if an a prison incident serves some other agenda. What goes on inside is all too often 'out of sight, put of mind'. Prison officers deal with the highly dangerous (but not diagnosed insane) every single damned day. And it's a thankless task.

It seems very likely he has a personality disorder and yes, he knows what he's doing and yes he's trying to cause hell for officers and the prison system but people who bite their viens open and swallow razor blades aren't well people.

The people I've known who do that had horrific childhoods.

My BiL is a prison guard. He deals with people like this all the time. And his response to them is a hell of a lot more nuanced than "they're all just evil bastards" or "poor loves are ill and can't help it". So I'll take my lead from him thanks. You spend your sympathy as you wish, certainly not wise to spread it around to thinly if its in short supply.

In 2010, he assaulted a nurse when he escaped a hospital in Crewe, Cheshire.

Four years ago, he also admitted stalking a 13-year-old girl by sending her letters from her cell at Polmont Prison, near Falkirk.

How did he get to do this? I personally think that more funds need to be put into prisons. They need to be made more secure. The guards need to be paid better. I also do think that security needs to be tightened up as there seems to be a lot of incidences of prisoners terrorizing people from their prison cells which should not be allowed to happen. They should not be allowed to have access to Facebook and mark their victims from the cells as has been happening.
