They're the one who likes to post TRA bile on twitter as shon faye aren't they?

Larainette · 27/09/2017 10:04

This isn't a nice thing to say and perhaps very shallow, but you know when you see a picture of a rapist/murderer/general horrible person in the paper and you think "they look horrible", I think shon Faye looks like that. Just so aggressive and angry looking. Maybe it's just the pouting. Now I know you only think they look horrible because you know they've done awful things and anyone would look bad in a police photo, but that's what I think of.

busyboysmum · 27/09/2017 10:47

Someone on Twitter posted this hilarious photo of him in his kitchen. Looking like we all do in our kitchens - ready to receive as it were.

One of the major things that pisses me off about this kind of trans person is how they take on the role of a woman and turn it into submissive available sex. It's like white people blacking up to humiliate black people. That's how it feels to me.

He does seem to have a thing about associating women with kitchens. He imagined Janice Turner in one (because where else could she possibly be???)

MorrisZapp · 27/09/2017 11:28

Oh right. I thought he was just a man in makeup. Didn't know he was a TRA.

FactsAreNotMean · 27/09/2017 11:34

He didn't used to be I don't think Morris, but know he's gone full TRA.

Backingvocals · 27/09/2017 14:06

Yes how this isn't the Black & White Minstrels or Rachel Dolezal I do not understand. They are either laughing at the other, telling the other how to be the other or giving a perverted version of what the other means. It's all horrible.

busyboysmum · 27/09/2017 14:46

Men don't care because it doesn't affect them in any way. Lots of women don't care because they just want to be nice and inclusive and haven't really looked into the consequences. I am horrified by the situation at the moment. But then I am horrified by a lot of the world at the moment anyway.

hackmum · 27/09/2017 15:09

MorrisZapp: "I thought he was just a man in makeup."

You know what? He still is.

Him & Eddie Izzard.

Please someone tell me that the piece on Warwick Uni's SU page isn't for real? I'm speechless - this is a joke, right? Transwomen offended because women have vaginas?!

theaveragewife · 28/09/2017 21:24

Smarties it's real, I went there, it's not just real - it was taught to me by a professor in a classroom with no room for critical thought.

SmartiesHaveTheAnswer · 28/09/2017 22:20

Shock

How did you react? What was the general reaction?

Unbelievable that this shit is being peddled in our so called academic institutions!

theaveragewife · 28/09/2017 22:56

I froze, didn't feel like I could say anything. It was a masters class specifically on feminism in the sociology department - this is going to massively out me, but I don't care anymore! At some point I tried to murmur something about being too privileged to have an opinion, my main subject was very literal and I think logically, so the language used by people I would expect to be in a position of knowledge confused and silenced me. What mostly concerned me was the lack of balance, there was no opportunity to present another theory or argument - talk of feminism through the years was with an undercurrent of distaste and many of the students were very young and so desperate to be current.

It pushed me so far I couldn't complete the course, in another class I at least got the opportunity to disagree with prostitution - many of the students were arguing sex work is a choice and one that sex workers enjoy. Again, at least in that case the professor was neutral....the sociology class presented facts, and the facts were that men can be women and that I mustn't exclude transwomen by discussing the birth of my children.

RaininSummer · 28/09/2017 23:36

That is unbelievable. The world is truly going mad.

Pawpainting · 29/09/2017 00:58

That university of Warwick link is infuriating.

Where are the trans men demanding access to male locker rooms, prisons and hospital wards? Where are the trans men demanding that any mention of male anatomy be erased? Calling for men who won't sleep with them to "die in a fire"? Do they exist? If they do they must be astoundingly small in number which says it all really.

These TRAs and their blatant bullying and violent behaviour couldn't be a more clear example of male privilege, yet they have the gall to call "cis" women "more privileged". Wtf

hackmum · 29/09/2017 07:44

Very pleased to see that blog from Maria. She gives a very thorough account of what happened and demolishes the arguments of the idiots.

Datun · 29/09/2017 07:57

I agree. Anyone reading that could not doubt her veracity.

It's a fairly common view that transactivists will hang themselves if you give them enough rope. Partly because the ideology does not stand up to scrutiny, as an ideology, in intellectual terms. But also because in real life, the behaviour of transactivists is appalling.

It's usually played out online, but with complacency comes carelessness.

That one incident did more then show TRAs up for the bullies they are. It's provided that small, extra motivation and backing for women to start talking about this more.

As more people speak, the impotency in trying to stop them becomes apparent and TRAs will up the ante.

Their rage will reveal their motives.

I completely agree with Maria in her assessment of the stupidity behind all this. Desperately trying to get into women spaces by being violent has to be the worst of all possible strategies.

hackmum · 29/09/2017 08:53

"Desperately trying to get into women spaces by being violent has to be the worst of all possible strategies."

Quite. Also advertising beforehand that you want to "fuck up some Terfs" and then allowing yourself to be caught on camera beating a woman up suggests to me that Tara Flik Wood isn't the brightest bulb in the tanning salon.

MillicentFawcett · 29/09/2017 09:31

One of the people chosen as one of the first participants for Labour's Women in Leadership programme, designed to "act as a high level training experience ... to help develop the skills of women in the party and encourage them to run for elected positions, including parliamentary selections"

I'd be really interested to hear from the TA who genuinely tried to stop the aggressors - the lady in the pinky, mushroom colour jacket, brown hair in a ponytail, she tried to intervene to stop them attacking Maria and then the tall dark haired TA turned and started threatening her. I'm useless at tech no cant take a pic but the woman is seen walking away from the whole scene, with a partner I think.

If you're reading, I'd like to hear from you. It must have been devastating, frightening, humiliating to have that TA turn on you like that.

I'm really keen to hear their point of view since they've witnessed exactly what we are all fearing, at first hand.

SmartiesHaveTheAnswer · 29/09/2017 09:35

Millicent I must have been slowly typing and missed your post.

Dear God. Talk about de-valuing every successful businesswoman Sad

YesVeryGoodVeryStrong · 29/09/2017 09:41

Can someone tell me how that is different to a white person blacking up to get on a BAME leadership programme?

Datun · 29/09/2017 09:48

smarties

I don't think you'll ever hear from her, she was from the TRA camp.

There is no way she doesn't know that that man is abusive. She tried to stop him, he shoved her, told her to fuck off. He pushed her straight into the woman in blue, who subsequently said she was glad they hit Maria.

These women have been gaslighted on a stratospheric scale.

It's incredibly hard to untangle yourself from an abusive relationship. These women are in abusive relationships.

Yet another aspect of the ideology that is a profoundly feminist issue.
