They have finally lost the plot. It's utterly shameful

Let's face it: this is a thread where someone - with an absolutely straight face - complained that Pink News was an echochamber.

I can't believe you can say that with a straight face, to be honest!

Birdchangedname · 09/09/2017 14:38

Mother, any chance you want to address some of the stuff Wicked and myself have said, or is our experience as women who have lived with this, make us invisible to you.

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2017 14:38

I wasn't going to. But you literally demonstrating what it means to gaslight someone within a sentence about gaslighting was just too low-hanging a fruit

Only to the very hard of thinking. Go look up what gaslighting is. You're the low hanging fruit, dear.

7Days · 09/09/2017 14:38

Or 'transwoman ARE women'

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2017 14:39

Right, I am going to be the bigger person now. No more responding to goady trans allies. At least for today.

badbadhusky · 09/09/2017 14:40

No, a basic spelling error - which matters if you are being snarky to the originating poster about their (correct) spelling.

WickedLazy · 09/09/2017 14:40

My phone has a mind of it's own today Confused

*making changes to laws, to help protect these men, as they continue to use male spaces, dressed however they like. I get the feeling, a lot if teen girls who want to become boys or men, must have a notion that women are inferior, or it's harder to be a woman, and easier to be male or perceived as male. Haven't heard or read much about older women wanting to transition?

Surely biology defines our sex, anything else is just personality? And because biologically men have the capacity to rape, is the main reason we keep separate?

Birdchangedname · 09/09/2017 14:41

AGP is rooted in misogyny. The experience I have had is of a fetish of women being nothing other than submissive sex holes, and his desire to be this. It was all about obtainable relief from the pressures of being a "man" in the fantasy of being a "woman".

Xenophile · 09/09/2017 14:41

I can't believe you can say that with a straight face, to be honest

There's a possibility that s/he hasn't actually read the PN for a while and hasn't seen what a lesbophobic misogynist echo chamber it's become over the last couple of years? Not that it was ever for women anyway.

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2017 14:44

Penis News.

Birdchangedname · 09/09/2017 14:46

Love the rename to Penis News!

Xenophile · 09/09/2017 14:51

It's fitting for it to be called Penis News.

And so it shall now be named Grin

VestalVirgin · 09/09/2017 14:58

Or 'transwoman ARE women'

Yeah, that's a perfect example of the attempted gaslighting transactivists engage in on a regular basis.

WickedLazy · 09/09/2017 15:04

Birdchangedname I think parents putting there children through this, are mostly well intentioned, and have their hearts in the right place, but are misinformed. Will a teen boy with agp, tell his parents about that aspect of wanting to trans? I assume many must not even discuss it with their doctors.

I think health professionals are disregarding other underlying feelings/fetish's, etc, or as a pp said above, believing everything they're being told 100%.

Birdchangedname · 09/09/2017 15:08

I agree, the parents are doing it out of love. They are told by Mermaids that their child WILL kill them self if they don't. They are not told that Mermaids is an unregulated one person pressure group, and that their stats have been debunked again and again.

OlderGolder · 09/09/2017 15:09

Wow. This person did commit rape and this person still has a penis and this person is in a women's prison, and still making unwelcome ''advances'' .............. and yet what offends 'Pink News' is that it's not all forgotten Confused

Wow. Again. Just wow.

WickedLazy · 09/09/2017 15:15

The thought of any set of parents, approaching my ex for "advice" on their princess dress loving 9 year old boy, gives me the crills. I don't know much about mermaids, but have heard they're shady. They're telling parents kids will kill themselves, if not allowed to fully transition?! Who regulates them?

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2017 15:23

Who regulates them?

They should be regulated by the Charity Commission. But in practice they are uncritically allowed a free rein and to "inform" government policy apart from the recent court case where they were criticised by the judge. They're dreadful propagandists.

BigDeskBob · 09/09/2017 15:43

"But I don't know of any famous transmen.".

Chas bono transitioned about 10 years ago, but received very different media coverage to mtt celebrities. I don't think they ever received a man of the year award or where included on influential men lists. Sad

VestalVirgin · 09/09/2017 16:04

The author Simone Borowiak, a somewhat well-known author in German speaking countries, has gone by "Simon" for a couple of years now. No media coverage to speak of, the only reason I know is because of the namechange on book covers.

Was also not nominated "man of the year" or applauded for being "brave" or whatever.

Probably made the mistake of not demanding that a doctor check him for prostate cancer.

And of course he didn't use his female body to get pregnant and give birth to sons whose underwear he could then have stolen when they were teenaged, something he could have boasted about.

There's a reason Caitlyn Jenner is more famous.

I mean, I am not even sure Borowiak entered any women-only writing competitions.

scaryclown · 09/09/2017 16:52

I think one issue, acting or not, is that women are portrayed as doing and liking the majority of sex these days, and I suspect that part of the sex-based transing is seen as a way of joining in, though in reality the porn world doesn't actually exist as such. . A trans person may feel they have bought a ticket to the multi sex, emotionally uninvited world that has been portrayed often to find, to their dismay, they are further excluded from it.

OR not!

PricklyBall · 09/09/2017 18:16

I think (pace Mother's comments upthread) that what this sort of borderline case does is to throw into sharp relief the two viewpoints. To my mind, it's a bit like abortion - either you are pro choice, or pro forced pregnancy. There really isn't a middle ground (much as some people would like there to be - "abortion's alright but only if the reasons are sufficiently good and the woman wears sackcloth and ashes afterwards").

In this case, either you think transwomen are a subset of women, in which case, all transwomen count - even Liane Huntley, Jessica Winfield, Davina Ayrton, Lisa Hauxwell, Kathy Brannen. You can't say "we'll have the nice accountant convicted of fraud who has dysphoria and count her as a woman, but Liane Huntley is taking the piss." Or you say transwomen are a subset of men, in which case by all means present, dress, call yourself whatever you want - but don't come into women-only spaces.

Personally I believe the latter. Transwomen are men. There's nothing wrong with that - they are men who feel more comfortable in dresses, wearing makeup, calling themselves by traditionally feminine names, rejecting the trappings of toxic masculinity, and more power to their elbow for doing so. I'll even call them "she" as a courtesy, just as I will refer to a priest as "Reverend" or "Father" even though I myself am an agnostic. (Actually I've said this before but I'll repeat it here - religious tolerance is the best model I can think of for trans issues in a liberal society - by all means believe whatever you want, but do not try to force me to believe it too, or claim that it justifies actions which impinge on my freedom to act in accordance with my belief set). But they are not women. They do not become women even if they have their penis removed and have reconstructive surgery.

Oh, and that courtesy of calling them "she" depends entirely on them doing me the courtesy of shelving their male privilege and acting properly. The moment they start to swing their metaphorical dick around, whether by threatening rape online, or as in this case, actually committing rape, they lose the right to that courtesy.

hystericaluterus · 09/09/2017 18:57

Like the religious tolerance analogy prickly. (Puts thinking cap on)

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2017 19:25

Great post Prickly.
