We just need to not get drunk apparently, as genuine rapists will prey on us if we're hammered. Well, that's a relief. I thought there might be a bit more to it than that, but it seems not.

Crone Island just gets more and more appealing doesn't it.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 19/05/2017 16:13

Indeed :(

AvonBarksdale99 · 19/05/2017 16:34

Can I just point out that my earlier comment was misinterpreted - I didn't say that I agreed with what he was saying, just that it wasn't wrong (or right) simply because HE (an unarguably bad, bad person) was saying it - it should be judged on its own merits.

Spudlet · 19/05/2017 16:47

Fuckity fucking hell. The only advice he should be giving is to stay away from him. Damn right he knows what he did. Angry

Someone earlier used the analogy of wearing a cycle helmet being akin to staying sober and not dressing 'provocatively', but that's not quite right, is it? I wear a cycle helmet in case I hit a pothole, not in case a driver deliberately makes the choice to aim their car at me and run me into the ditch. It's not as though rape happens by accident - 'Oh sorry mate, I didn't see you' Hmm The rapist chooses to rape, and that choice is theirs alone, and not something their victim can control in the slightest.

FlaviaAlbia · 19/05/2017 16:53

This is his sick notion of revenge isn't it? Against the police for believing him guilty of rape and against the woman he raped, probably for just existing. It's just an attempt to cause her further pain.

He's the lowest of the low.

Ceto · 19/05/2017 17:10

Just had a thought. He essentially got off because the jury wasn't satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that he didn't genuinely believe that the victim wasn't consenting. Does he now accept that, whatever he believed, she simply wasn't capable of consenting? And has he therefore taken any action to show contrition, such as paying compensation or even telling his supporters to leave her alone?

PoochSmooch · 19/05/2017 17:11

I didn't say that I agreed with what he was saying, just that it wasn't wrong (or right) simply because HE (an unarguably bad, bad person) was saying it - it should be judged on its own merits.

I'm not sure if it's your posting style, but as it was me who misinterpreted/didn't get your earlier comment, then I have to say that I don't get this one either. Because it still sounds like you agree with his premise, or at least think it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand. Which is kind of astonishing, given that he's portraying himself as a victim here...? And is in fact, very near the top of the list of male public figures who should never, ever be venturing the slightest public opinion on women and rape just as the merest nod to being a decent human being.

kittybiscuits · 19/05/2017 17:16

His girlfriend's family bought witnesses to get him off. Nice.

Totallymyownperson · 19/05/2017 17:21

Aristotle - want to read a good article see the latest one from the independent by Victoria smith.

After the retrial he said in an interview he wanted to let the football do the talking now I wish he stuck to that. Even his supporters are telling him to shut up now. What a PR disaster

Fliptophead · 19/05/2017 17:25

Men get raped too. I hope he's sober as a judge on his nights out so as to avoid being raped. and maybe to avoid him actually raping anyone again

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 19/05/2017 17:32

Excellent article here

Lottapianos · 19/05/2017 17:50

That is a great article TheOnly. You can feel just how livid she is. Good for her.

GlitterGlue · 19/05/2017 18:13

He's a vile scumbag. Surely he's not serious though? Or is he as thick as mince as well as being a vile scumbag?

MadameSzyszkoBohush · 19/05/2017 18:17

Glitter both him and his fiancé are thick as mince.

Lottapianos · 19/05/2017 18:23

Agreed Madame

Xenophile · 19/05/2017 18:36

They are thick as mince, but cunning as snakes.

Never a good combo.

BuckingFrolicks2 · 19/05/2017 18:48

I refuse to read it.

Terfing · 19/05/2017 19:06

Did he get paid to share this wisdom? If yes, from whom? Angry
