Stuff that i often see on fb is beyond disturbing.

People are transing toddlers because they put teatowels on their heads...

I sort of understand confused teenagers with MH issues under the influence of youtube, but ADULTS?

Or is this a new trend when you have a child not of the sex you preferred?

Someone on the Steve Biddulph thread has asked whether, given the increase in trans kinds, we shouldn't be telling children that they are a boy or a girl , but waiting to find out which they decide they are later??!!! Do people not understand that sex isn't something one can pick?

SirVixofVixHall · 27/04/2017 11:51

Trangender Dog!!!! Dog with internal testicles ( a cancer risk) and malformed external genitalia is not having "gender reassignment surgery" ffs.

hoddtastic · 27/04/2017 11:56

wTAF? if i knew that mum with the 5 year old with the erection, i'd be reporting her.

I was worried the insanity had spread to people mistreating their dogs at first, but apparently, the dog was in pain because of its unusual genitalia and the surgery necessary. Different thing!

Though this sort of thing is/was done to human intersex babies who had no pain caused by their genitalia. It would be more appropriate, in those cases, to talk of "gender assignment surgery", as there is nothing re-assigned. (The neovag was apparently invented so that intersex babies born without penis - who had therefore to be assigned the feminine gender role, as only the bepenised get male privilege - would be fuckable.)

Intersex and Trans are connected insofar as the human rights violations committed on intersex people are now the shiny new "treatment" for trans.

No wonder most intersex people want nothing to do with transactivism ...

I know it's a different thing vestal the OT writer doesn't seem to know it though.

Railgunner1 · 27/04/2017 12:49

intersex is an anomaly, just like co-joined twins, or absence of limbs.

Well there will be a raft of litigation in the US in time when the children grow up and sue their parents.
It isn't funny.
As everyone keeps pointing out in Victoria times pink was a traditional boys clothes colour.

GoldStars3 · 27/04/2017 12:59

Before this thread goes too far down the 'Americans are nuts' route, have a look at this The teatowels-to-hormone-blockers trend isn't an American thing. It's a batshit thing, and batshit is everywhere.

ilovechoc1987 · 27/04/2017 13:02

My dads the blokiest bloke around, but when he was a boy he used to play with his sisters dollys and do their hair, not interested in cars or trains.
He grew up to be fashion conscious, despite the pot belly and working on building sites.

Do you know what, while i agree this is coming from batshit, if all children were treated equally, not subjected to stereotypes, and allowed to dress and play with what they want, and not be "boy" or "girl" it might not be a bad thing. At the very least, you wouldn't have adults telling children they are what they are not. And i'm willing to bet the number of trans kids will plummet, they'll just be children who like cars and dolls.

Micah · 27/04/2017 13:20

I also like the irony that in the US, playing soccer is a sign you are a girl, because over there it's about as masculine as ballet. "Real boys" play american football.

So a soccer loving child would be a girl in the US, and a boy in the UK....

Absolutely. Get rid of the stereotypical gender roles and everyone can do what they want.

Not once in that clip a few posts up did anyone mention symptoms of gender dysphoria. It was all about liking girls' stuff. And then the parents said it's not all about liking girls' stuff.

Datun · 27/04/2017 13:38

Gobbolinothewitchscat

What's your uncles take on all this, if you don't mind me asking?

I can google causes for transgender and get all sorts of reasons ranging from sexual abuse, to hormone washes in the womb, to it's a psychological problem, to the mum took the wrong medicine and everything in between.

I personally feel that it's some kind of disassociative disorder akin to anorexia. You have a high prevalence of people with autism becoming trans and the high prevalence of comorbid conditions.

But having every cell of your body imprinted with male DNA, apart from your brain, is clearly nonsense.

GoldStars3 · 27/04/2017 13:52

I wonder at what point the percentage of boys being transed in earlier childhood will so outweigh the girls that people start wringing their hands over it.

Will people start to connect the very large and obvious dots that girls behaving like "tomboys" are less likely to cause alarm (recent NYT article notwithstanding) than boys who lower themselves to play with pink handbags and choose the female characters when playing with Bob the Builder toys? And that outside of inordinate familial pressure, young girls are often content enough to get into the frilly princess stuff, and/or get mucky and wear jeans and runners (and may even get praise for "not being a girly girl" because you know, girls suck), until they hit adolescence and learn to hate the changing bodies that are turning them into judgable, fuckable objects in the eyes of others?

Will the links to the very obvious social pressures and sex stereotypes that kids internalise, at different ages and in different ways for less masculine boys and less feminine girls, give anyone pause? Or will we be subjected to debate and and analysis and phony neuroscience to explain the great mystery of why transing toddlers is more common is boys (though they won't call them boys), and transing teens is more common in girls?

shitgibbon · 27/04/2017 13:58

I'm so glad I'm old now and not a kid... if I'd been born now my parents would have thought I was a boy.

It should be illegal to trans until age 16. Adults only.

Railgunner1 · 27/04/2017 14:09

google the causes all you want. being a tomboy, or growing up gay -- that is all free of charge. Transing involves expensive things like drugs and therapy and surgery. its all business Wink

I'm reminded of a thread on here a few years ago, by a mother of a trans toddler. Someone searched her posting history, and it turned out she'd posted before about her experience of gender disappointment and her misery at not having a daughter. It was all very sad, and I often wonder what became of her and her child.

I'm guessing the oversharing blogger doesn't have any "assigned female at birth" children.

Railgunner1 · 27/04/2017 14:14

Yes I have no doubt, particularly in the States, that the medical profession are rubbing their hands with glee.

It's just that I can't find one definitive answer for the causes of gender dysphoria. I know why people with AGP transition. I know why every teenager who thinks they're special likes to flip their gender identity weekly.

But since gender dysphoria was considered the hall mark of transgenderism, I can't help feeling that if you crack that, you crack it all.

hoddtastic · 27/04/2017 14:23

the kid on that clip, the older brother has clear ASD traits (to my completely observational eye) I wonder if Paddy decided to be a girl to get some more attention from the older kid with ASD?

VestalVirgin · 27/04/2017 14:32

I wonder at what point the percentage of boys being transed in earlier childhood will so outweigh the girls that people start wringing their hands over it.

I don't think it will be cause for handwringing anytime soon, as there's enough (pre)teen girls getting permanently sterilized that it's still a win for patriarchy.
They'll probably make up some bullshit about transgenderism not being diagnosed often enough in girls, and start transing more female toddlers.
(Gender non-conforming girls are a problem for parents, too - see the efforts made to make sure random strangers don't accidentally treat the future sex object as human being. People seem more intent on glueing bows to baby girls' head than marking male babies in any way.)

Are more male toddlers actually transed? I get the impression that people are pretty invested in forcing gender roles on their female babies and toddlers.

Or will we be subjected to debate and and analysis and phony neuroscience to explain the great mystery of why transing toddlers is more common is boys (though they won't call them boys), and transing teens is more common in girls?

Oh, I am sure they'll invent some theory to explain it, instead of admitting the obvious.

FishInAWetSuitAndFlippers · 27/04/2017 14:41

I don't know any statistics, so this is just anecdotal, but I have noticed that parents of boys who feel as though they are trans are more likely to allow their child to take blockers and hormones and encourage their child down that route than parents of girls who feel as though they are trans.

Railgunner1 · 27/04/2017 14:47

homophobia and mysogyny.
tomboy girl was never really seen as a 'bad' thing. somewhat odd maybe, but also cool at the same time.
however, a 'sissy' boy would be always the target of bullying.
