Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Gender Critical MNers Gathering Together On Twitter.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:43

Creating this thread for those who want to follow/share/connect/engage with other gender critical MNers on Twitter after the suggestion was made on this thread to group together there to raise awareness of our concerns around the possibility of gender self identity replacing gender reassignment in the uk and trans ideology etc.

If you'd like to take part then please Pm me your Twitter name, over the weekend I will compile a list of MNers Twitter names and PM them back out to everyone on Monday. As it'll be an ongoing thing, I will add other Twitter handles that are sent after Monday and send updated lists via PM. Only your Twitter name will be given to other MNers and I won't share your MN username alongside your Twitter account with anyone.

If you know of any other public Twitter profiles that are openly gender critical such as Magdelan Burns, please feel free to share their Twitter names too and I shall add to the list.

Before you sign up for Twitter you will need an email or phone number for verification.
Understandably, many don't feel safe linking personal phone number or personal emails to gender critical posts so it might be best to create a separate email address for social media sites etc where you want to speak about concerns raised in the other threads. Gmail, outlook, yahoo are three sites off the top of my head that provide free web based email accounts.

When you click on sign up in Twitter it will give the option of signing up with a mobile number as a default but if you scroll down a little, there's an option to "use email instead"

Following this link should take you to the sign up page with the email option already selected.

If you are worried about your IP address being used to locate you, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software/services that camouflage your actual IP and make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from elsewhere. I use an Android app called VPN master which can be downloaded from google play and once installed, it's just a case of opening app and and switching it on and accessing Internet as usual. You can have the VPN running all the time but it can drain battery so I open app and turn back off after using. There should be similar apps for iOS and Windows, I will link them in later post if I get time.

I can create a bunch of email and Twitter accounts for people if they are struggling, but wont be able to do it until Monday. I'll be less active online over the weekend but wanted to get the thread up so that people can start PMing their Twitter names.

Hasn't that changed now, eatspam? I thought all tweets now appear in your timeline, even they start with @

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/03/2017 08:21

Personally I wouldn't use the term "real women" for its bad connotations - real women have curves for example - so "slim women aren't real women?", "what about women after hysterectomy", etc. That and TA's would not see past it to listen to a logical argument.

jellyfrizz · 14/03/2017 08:41

#biologymatters ?

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 14/03/2017 08:46

That's even better, Jelly.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 14/03/2017 08:51

As in: it encapsulates concerns about the erasure of biology-based discrimination and exploitation, concerns about male physical advantage in sports and the injury risk to women, concerns about male bodied people in women only spaces, effects of drugs like Lupron on developmentally-necessary processes like puberty and the medical risks of sustained cross-hormone exposure etc.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/03/2017 09:00

I think we should have a poll like someone suggested up thread. Is it surveymonkey that does free polls?

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 14/03/2017 10:31

I'm not sure shiny maybe, I haven't worked in social media for about 9 months. Looking on my twitter app, I can only see @ing people I already follow but when I go to their page I can see their other @s.

Yes agreed, still think a poll is a good idea. Maybe leave it up for 24 hours to give people a good chance. Yes to survey monkey.

jellyfrizz · 14/03/2017 10:34

#biologymatters doesn't provoke argument of gender or feelings which are subjective and can sidetrack discussion.

It's simply saying that biology DOES matter however you present or feel.

DonkeySkin · 14/03/2017 11:46

IMO #adulthumanfemale sends the clearest and most memorable message. It provides a clear rejoinder to the gender identity propaganda that 'woman' is a metaphysical identity that anyone can claim. It asserts: this is what a woman is, not a collection of feminine stereotypes, not a 'feeling' and not an 'identity'. A woman is an adult human female – nothing more, and nothing less.

We urgently need to reassert this definition of 'woman' in the public domain and retain it as a legal standard. If we don't, women's rights are lost for good.

WobblyLegs5 · 14/03/2017 12:28

I like adult human female & biology matters.

I guess perhaps it depends on what aspect you want to focus on- female spaces being invaded/female languafe/females at risk. Or the biological risk of hormones on children, & the risk eroding a males experience has on an adult transwoman.

Biology matters covers more widely but adult human female focuses more on the risk to women

I don't like 'real woman' either. It snacks of Beyonce style flounces & arguing over curves/csections/breastfeeding etc. And of ponocyo. It dumbs it all down a bit.

BeyondUnderthinking · 14/03/2017 13:11

I am @PsA_Tilly :)

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/03/2017 14:05

beyond I don't think we're putting our twitter names on here! Umless you're not worried about privacy.

uniquehornsonly · 14/03/2017 14:36

I'd be a bit concerned that #adulthumanfemale might be taken over by TAs of the type that talk about their "female penis" and so on. If someone thinks "female" has been redefined to include transwomen in the same way that apparently "woman" has been Hmm, then it might not serve our purposes as well as it could.

I'm leaning towards #BiologyMatters now.

Btw, I think it helps to capitalise the B and M - BiologyMatters rather than biologymatters - as it's easier for people to read at a glance and is therefore more likely to catch people's passing interest (and hence more likely to be clicked and shared, etc.).

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 14/03/2017 15:26

I think the TRAs are going to take over and subvert whichever hashtag we aim for. We could use #babybelcheese and they would still try and take it over as an act of protest.

WankingMonkey · 14/03/2017 15:38

Yeah they will take over no matter what you chose. I think BiologyMatters is the best suggestion

BeyondUnderthinking · 14/03/2017 15:46

Don't worry drink, I'm happy with my Twitter and mn being linked :)

And not massively concerned if they get linked with my real name either, though I'd prefer not. I have no job to lose because of it Grin

uniquehornsonly · 14/03/2017 16:09

Yes, you're right, they probably will try to hijack any hashtag Sad

It just seemed easier to imagine adulthumanfemale being used in a trans-ally libfem sense ("transwomen are women, yay #adulthumanfemale") than BiologyMatters, but anything can be trolled.

Usui101 · 16/03/2017 21:54
