Gender Critical MNers Gathering Together On Twitter.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 10/03/2017 19:43

Creating this thread for those who want to follow/share/connect/engage with other gender critical MNers on Twitter after the suggestion was made on this thread to group together there to raise awareness of our concerns around the possibility of gender self identity replacing gender reassignment in the uk and trans ideology etc.

If you'd like to take part then please Pm me your Twitter name, over the weekend I will compile a list of MNers Twitter names and PM them back out to everyone on Monday. As it'll be an ongoing thing, I will add other Twitter handles that are sent after Monday and send updated lists via PM. Only your Twitter name will be given to other MNers and I won't share your MN username alongside your Twitter account with anyone.

If you know of any other public Twitter profiles that are openly gender critical such as Magdelan Burns, please feel free to share their Twitter names too and I shall add to the list.

Before you sign up for Twitter you will need an email or phone number for verification.
Understandably, many don't feel safe linking personal phone number or personal emails to gender critical posts so it might be best to create a separate email address for social media sites etc where you want to speak about concerns raised in the other threads. Gmail, outlook, yahoo are three sites off the top of my head that provide free web based email accounts.

When you click on sign up in Twitter it will give the option of signing up with a mobile number as a default but if you scroll down a little, there's an option to "use email instead"

Following this link should take you to the sign up page with the email option already selected.

If you are worried about your IP address being used to locate you, you can use VPN (Virtual Private Network) software/services that camouflage your actual IP and make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from elsewhere. I use an Android app called VPN master which can be downloaded from google play and once installed, it's just a case of opening app and and switching it on and accessing Internet as usual. You can have the VPN running all the time but it can drain battery so I open app and turn back off after using. There should be similar apps for iOS and Windows, I will link them in later post if I get time.

I can create a bunch of email and Twitter accounts for people if they are struggling, but wont be able to do it until Monday. I'll be less active online over the weekend but wanted to get the thread up so that people can start PMing their Twitter names.

Why don't we set up a poll to agree a hashtag?

Thisisouting · 13/03/2017 16:07

Well I'm going to keep going with what I'm doing when you all decide on something I'll be back.

DJBaggySmalls · 13/03/2017 16:22

There isnt a hashtag that cant be taken over or subverted, I dont think we should worry about that. I just needs to be short and snappy. Are there any copywriters about?
We may need to make a succession of tags if they are taken over.

CaroleService · 13/03/2017 17:26

#adulthumanfemale ?

tuffragette?

PencilsInSpace · 13/03/2017 17:46

Just managed to make a new twitter account. Had a sex chat line follower even before I'd done the email verification, blocked it and was instantly locked out! Things have changed since I last set an account up, the automated locker outerer seems a bit trigger happy Grin

It took ages to get back in, now it has suggested I follow Danielle Muscato! I think I'll give that one a day or two ...

I'm going for a neutral profile and will include a fair amount of general newsy / sciency / health / leftish tweets as well I think. It makes it a bit less trollish looking and less likely to be blocked.

I don't think we should get too fixated on hash tags at this stage. We need one, which can be quite obscure, so we can find each other - maybe #MNGC (MN gender critical)? Or whatever most of you have started using already.

Aside from that, I don't think there are enough of us to get anything trending at this point so I think we'd be better off using whichever tags seem appropriate and popular in relation to current events.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/03/2017 18:08

I like #adulthumanfemale!

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 13/03/2017 18:19

I really like #adulthumanfemale too.

QuentinSummers · 13/03/2017 19:13

I just put #realwomenhavevaginas on another thread but I like #adulthumanfemale too!

QuentinSummers · 13/03/2017 19:16

Also in terms of who to tweet Glosswitch and Rebecca Reilly Cooper (boodleoops) might be a good start

Dreamingdreams · 13/03/2017 19:54

I've joined Twitter but for some reason when I tweet @... I can see it on my page but I can't see it on theirs. Any ideas why? I can't see "mentions" at all, again only on my feed. In my settings, I haven't ticked the box which limits tweets to those that follow you and whom you follow, so everyone should be able to see them. I am using the official Twitter app on my phone though and I've deleted my phone number from my account setting (you can prevent tweets from ppl that don't have verified email or phone number, etc), so could that be it?

riobruins · 13/03/2017 20:02

You won't see your mentions on other people's pages because the mentions is people you've mentioned. If you search @(whoever you tweeted) and don't go to their page but just the search it should be there. Hope that makes sense.

You could @ reply the original tweeter as well to make sure. But if it is their tweet it's attached to that tweet anyway I think. I'm not entirely sure though, the @ reply might already be there.

MercyMyJewels · 13/03/2017 20:31

riobruins
But I also included a # (as well as a @to politicians) and when I click on my tweets, it doesn't show up on twitter search. There is a setting on twitter to not accept followers that don't have an email/phone. Is it the same for posts showing up, do you think? I was never a prolific tweeter on my previous account, just used it for the news

I've found it when I search under her username and I can see it on my feed (or profile or whatever it's called), but I can't see it on her page, so that's normal then? Ok. Thanks.

When I've replied to someone, I can see that on their feed/page as well as mine, so that's normal too?

As you can tell, I'm a complete technophobe Blush, I literally have no idea what I'm doing.

riobruins · 13/03/2017 20:41

There is no reason why it shouldn't be there I don't think. I'm no expert on twitter though. Maybe other people can see them and you can't for some reason, I think sometimes that happens. Twitter says this for tweets not showing up in search support.twitter.com/articles/66018. I'm not really sure though.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 13/03/2017 20:50

I have been following discussion on this thread and like #adulthumanfemale - it is factual, neutral (for now) and does what it says on the tin.

WobblyLegs5 · 13/03/2017 20:56

I like it too. I can also spell it, ski advantage over suffragette

Dreamingdreams · 13/03/2017 21:04

Yeah, I like #adulthumanfemale too. Simple and straight to the point.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 13/03/2017 22:27

I think putting a full stop right in front of the at when addressing a specific person shows your tweets on your feed to everyone who follows you.

The official Twitter App doesn't give an option to view other users mention feeds.

Many third party Twitter apps allow you to see all your own mentions and you can also see mentions other users have seen.

I use tweetbot 3 on iPad and Tweetings on android, I have took some screenshots so you can see what I mean. I like it because you can see tweets and replies others have received in one feed and then the users own tweets on a seperate feed. Tweetbot3 was removed from AppStore when they released tweetbot4 that's £9.99 ATM, wouldn't pay that as its not worth it and it often goes on sale. There's many free Twitter apps on the App Store that do the same for a lot less. I'm not sure how much Tweetings as I installed it ages ago, is but there's loads of good free ones with the same features on the Playstore. I'll find links.

I'd get rid of the official Twitter app altogether but keep it installed because you don't have a character limit on private messages whereas tweetbot does.

Here's links for Tweetings for Twitter. It's £1.99 if you use Twitter a lot it's worth it, you can customise all sorts, you can switch between all your Twitter accounts easily, or you can view all your timelines on one feed, loads of stuff. They have an iOS version at £2.99

You can't make your tweets appear on someone else's page. You can view their mentions but only, as someone mentioned above on third party apps like Echofon or through a search.
If you start a tweet with @name then only that person (and people who follow you who follow that person) will be able to see it. It's better to tweet along the lines of "Hey @name blah blah blah" as it shows to everyone who follows you.

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 13/03/2017 22:55

When I say be able to see it - it will appear in their feed and mentions. Everyone can view all tweets you have sent by visiting your profile page - few people do this.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 14/03/2017 00:11

I've gathered up all the handles of public gender critical profiles that have been suggested on this thread etc. If I've missed anyone or if you know of people who have not been suggested ket me know and I'll and re post. If anyone ones a copy of list sending over PM let me know and I'll send it ASAP. I'm off to bed soon (probably still be here in three hours time haha) but wanted to let you all know I think you're brilliant. I know the reasons we are doing this isn't a good thing and I'd rather we didn't have to defend our rights but I've also had a really good feeling being part of this if that makes sense? Knowing there's so many us supporting each other is quite heartwarming and I've had a confidence the last few days that I haven't felt before. Thank you :)
