'Those who have lived as men, with all the privileges that entails, do not have the shared experience of growing up female.'

Brave and interesting article in the Times.

Link here behind pay wall I think

Makemine - thanks for that. Brilliant post!

Datun · 08/03/2017 11:22

Exactly! When transwomen talk of rights, the ONLY one they mean is being regarded, legally as women.

Everything else is just semantics.

Being legally regarded as women, give them a huge amount of power over women.

It is the bedrock of the entire edifice.

Everyone knows they are not women, hence the ridiculous linguistic gymnastics, the co-opting of intersex, flat worms, cuttlefish, two-spirit, a magic female brain in a male body. You name it.

CaroleService · 08/03/2017 11:23

Sometimes I long to scuttle all over Mumsnet: wherever there is a post about childbirth, menstruation, menopause, thyroid issues, abortion - women asking for help and advice - and tell them (nay, ORDER them) to cease immediately. Don't they realise that not all women have periods, babies, etc, etc, etc, and that it is terribly unfair to transwomen, to harp on about our cis-biology like this, cosily discussing issues that trans sisters cannot share? Excluding them, othering them?

How long would it take, do you think, for the worm to turn?

Datun · 08/03/2017 11:40

CaroleService

Especially if you include some of the numerous quotes from a transwomen saying exactly that.

I reckon the worm would turn in about five seconds.

CaroleService · 08/03/2017 11:54

It would give Mumsnet Towers a bit of a problem.

WankingMonkey · 08/03/2017 11:58

you can have males look and act like females because they are trying to get close enough to actual females to mate with them (cuttlefish, bluegills, others)

Cotton ceiling male lesbians explained in a nutshell Grin

Terfinator · 08/03/2017 12:08

Imagine if I turned up at an exclusive 'gentleman,s club', like the ones in Westminster, and announced that I'm now a bloke and want to join...

DianaMemorialJam · 08/03/2017 12:27

You would be terfed out on your arse I expect!

Oh, menz.

RakingUpBadMemories · 08/03/2017 12:43

Try it at Jenner's golf club, Terfinator

BenLinusatemyhomework · 08/03/2017 12:51

We should all say we are male and apply for male only clubs, golf clubs, the masons, although I'm pretty sure you need a sponsor to get in so they'd still be able to keep us out - crafty sods, got it all figured out.

Men are never going to budge up a bit for women.

CharlottaBronte · 08/03/2017 12:54

quite terfinator. perhaps we could do this en masse!

PhoenixJasmine · 08/03/2017 13:43

Really well explained points there Donkey thankyou.

JigglyTuff · 08/03/2017 16:03

I have had a typically wet response from the BBC:

"Thanks for contacting us regarding Jenni Murray’s comments about transgender women.

Jenni Murray is a freelance journalist and these were her own views; however she has been reminded that presenters should remain impartial on controversial topics covered by their BBC programmes.

Please be assured that your concerns have been noted for the attention of BBC management.

Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch."

I said in my complaint that they were not adhering to their values of being 'independent, impartial and honest' in 'reminding' JM that she should be impartial. Which of course they haven't addressed

shetisham · 08/03/2017 16:05

What, impartial like Gary Lineker

JigglyTuff · 08/03/2017 16:35

Being discussed on the Media Show now with Eleanor Mills

fruitlovingmonkey · 08/03/2017 16:50

I got the same response JigglyTuff, it didn't answer my complaint at all.

fruitlovingmonkey · 08/03/2017 17:00

I'm so tired of having to think about this shit. Being a human requires so much thinking. My dog doesn't have these problems. My dog is really cute and just prances around getting so much attention and everyone says "what a cute dog!"
I'm going to identify as a dog from now on. You must refer to me using only the pronoun 'woof'.

IAmAmy · 08/03/2017 17:14

An excellent idea fruitlovingmonkey. I like people to provide food for me and to come and go from the house as I please without any input from the owners. I think I am in reality a cat and shall henceforth identify as such.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/03/2017 17:22

Grinor maybe you're just a teenager?

IAmAmy · 08/03/2017 17:26

Please stop denying my identity you CERF Angry

Bowednotbroken · 08/03/2017 17:29

Girlscout that video was brilliant! Do you know who the speaker was? Thank you for sharing - it really made so much sense.

CharlottaBronte · 08/03/2017 18:14

loving cerf Grin

fulloffunreally · 10/03/2017 23:13

No problem so with transgender males it seems.

Not a word spoken about females who transition to males. Now I wonder why there is no problem there?

Rhetorical question obviously.
