... please tell me I'm not the only one.

Have become more feminist, making sense of life experiences over last few years.

Looked for feminist group locally/online. Or women's groups.

Everything's taken over by trans...

Ooooo Kent is WELL terfy!

punkadiddle · 18/02/2017 20:21

N.E. Scotland here Smile - we're everywhere

GurlwiththeCurl · 18/02/2017 20:50

East Midlands TERF here. I can discuss Trans issues with my adult son, but have to be careful about talking about this on FB as I have a transman in the family. I try my best to support him, whilst being very worried about his future.

CharlieSierra · 18/02/2017 21:37

Lots of you seem to be in Kent or oop North! I'm in the Cotswolds, and a member of a RL feminist group, where opinions vary but there are some gender critical members. I mostly discuss the trans issues with my daughter and nieces and my son who is gay and a great feminist ally.

ChampagneCommunist · 18/02/2017 22:54

Surrey!

elusivemoosive · 18/02/2017 23:53

Yorkshire TERF.

I can discuss trans issues with my lovely sister (who is also a mnetter - hi !), and I know one friend who lets me talk at her, and helps me think through my arguements, but who isn't really that bothered about the issue herself. I have talked a little with my mum, and other older female relatives who all strongly identify as feminist - and the response each and every time is painfully dismissive, that I must have misunderstood, because surely that isn't the reality (self identification, mtt competing in women's sporting events, sexually violent men in women's prisons etc).

I am in a social group in which any hint of terfiness will render me a social pariah. Not to mention my job... If I am an outspoken terf, my job could be threatened. In the last week or two I have been dropping those hints. It is terrifying.

CaroleService · 19/02/2017 13:58

Also Surrey

AnnaForbes · 19/02/2017 14:05

Dorset TERF here. I have terfy discussions with dh and ds, neither are particularly feminist but both have a healthy dose of common sense.

Labtest7 · 20/02/2017 23:14

Mackey term here.

Labtest7 · 20/02/2017 23:14

Bloody autocorrect. Should say Mackem!!

user1487544648 · 20/02/2017 23:21

Anyone know of any TERF friendly groups in Yorkshire? Never been an activist or feminist but would really like to meet like minded biological females (oops thats probably terfy but hey I dont know the words anymore!)

ErrolTheDragon · 20/02/2017 23:35

Another in the NW. I don't really have feminist discussions of any description irl except with DH and DD.

ageingrunner · 20/02/2017 23:41

I'm a northwest terf and I'm lucky to have a close friend who also identifies as a terf Smile

sassandfaff · 21/02/2017 02:35

North west terf. I have managed to de programme my teenage daughter and now she is a terf too.

She did like to shout and scream about transmen's feelings and rights for a while......

thecraftyfox · 21/02/2017 06:25

Another North West terf. I went to the Julie Bindel talk earlier this month.

We need a secret handsign I think

Xenophile · 21/02/2017 11:23

The ones in the NW should sort out a meet.

We could cause literal violence by admitting that we're women and stuff.

Are the TERFs in Kent, Kentish TERFs or TERFs of Kent? I am told there's a distinction.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/02/2017 14:11

Of course, 'the NW' is a huge geographical area, so we might need to be a bit more specific, but yeah.

DownHereInTheHorridHouse · 21/02/2017 14:16

I get excited when I see NE things, then realise it doesn't mean NE Scotland . . .

but there are two more of us here! Hello!

MrsWooster · 21/02/2017 14:33

Yorkshire. Most odd to not be able to speak out clearly in Rl... someone used the c word (cis) the other day and I did harumph but am very wary of entering into a debate. Otoh, that's why transactivism is sweeping the land a transwoman's work is never done so perhaps I shall publish and be damned.

user1487064897 · 21/02/2017 15:15

West Mids TERF right here (waves)

MissingTheVillage · 21/02/2017 18:29

Xenophile Are the TERFs in Kent, Kentish TERFs or TERFs of Kent? I am told there's a distinction.

Not sure, but I'm the Popular TERF's Front of the NE...

DownHere Apologies for literally erasing you... Wink Nah, seriously, sorry for England-centric-ness.

If you are in Yorkshire you would be welcome at York Feminist Network which so far has managed to accommodate a range of opinions. The day we become unfriendly to gender critical feminists is the day I stop going. Our women only meetings are open to transwomen, but don't assume from that that kool aid is the main beverage there...

CaoNiMa · 21/02/2017 18:40

Are any of the NW TERFS in or around Liverpool? I'd be up for a coffee and a chat if so.

UnbornMortificado · 21/02/2017 18:41

County Durham TERF.

Surprised how many there is here.

explodingkittens · 21/02/2017 21:38

I would love to have someone IRL to talk to about this. I think a couple of my friends would probably be quite terf-y if I broached the subject but tbh I am to scared to do that after recent experiences.

I have recently debated the issue with a couple of other close friends, and been called a TERF, shallow, narrow-minded, obsessed with gentalia, etc. One of them is a lesbian who says she is fine with the idea of the cotton ceiling, which I find odd in the extreme but there we go. We are still friends but the conversation has been really eye-opening in terms of how eager some people (highly intelligent people who work in jobs which require significant critical thinking skills and a very detailed understanding of female biology!) are to drink the transactivist KoolAid.

I don't feel comfortable talking about my views now as I know they think I am just a bigot. It's really sad.
