They come up with this.

First post - Why Transwomen Aren't Biologically Male.
www.facebook.com/everydayfeminism/

The comments are encouraging though, that is, the ones that haven't been deleted. Lots of people questioning and calling this out.

I am glad they asked, but I see no reasoning behind changing ridiculous to surprising.

I'm assuming the tumbleweed on HH webchat at the moment is as a result of the previous fiasco & MNHQ's terms set out for this webchat? Am I wrong on that assumption?

mirrorisnotmyfriend · 18/02/2017 11:10

Apparently they'd had a few complaints.....MNHQ I mean.

I will write to my MP but last time I wrote she ignored me. She is an SNP drone who can't think for herself and I'm pretty sure their party line is pro trans as they mistakenly think it's progressive.

I would like to hear Harriet Harman's definition of the word "woman" and to ask what she thinks about the imminent vote. I don't want to get banned however, and MNHQ,reacted pretty fiercely last time.

I got the impression that HQ were, essentially, embarrassed by the previous webchat. There was definitely a good bit of annoyance at our persistence. I imagine the politicians are expecting to be able to discuss their chosen issues and were disconcerted to be put on the spot.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 18/02/2017 11:32

I certainly won't be engaging with any webchats unless I can be confident that I can ask anything that's relevant. Harriet Harman used to put herself out there as a feminist, though she also got sucked in to campaigning for the paedophile group PIE. Would like to know whether she is still a feminist and whether she is aware of the risks to women and girls posed by trans activism. But I'm not at all sure I dare pose the question.

If you use a template they ignore you, definitely if you use writetothem.com there is an algorithm.

PlectrumElectrum · 18/02/2017 11:36

It's absurd that MN are effectively sanitising the webchat platform - given HH's history/background in feminism/women's rights, she's ideally placed to ask about the conflict between the trans agenda & women's rights, but it's clear MN are happy to allow these questions to be totally ignored & then accuse MN members of 'harassment' if the highlight the obvious ignoring of questions.

CharlieSierra · 18/02/2017 11:39

Have MN said anywhere that the subject can't be raised? Maybe one well thought and and worded question is the way to go?

PlectrumElectrum · 18/02/2017 11:39

Prawn I feel exactly the same. I want to ask similar questions but I expect to be ignored, deleted or banned.

PlectrumElectrum · 18/02/2017 12:00

I'm actually torn on this - on the 1 hand, asking the questions & then being clearly ignored can work to highlight the issue & how women's concerns are being routinely ignored. On the other hand the tumbleweed on that web chat also makes the point if MN want to sanitise their website with extreme moderation on one topic above all others, their large membership base isn't going to engage with this form of webchat & it will effectively lessen the 'pull' for anyone doing the PR rounds with whatever promotion they are pushing. Spectacular own goal by MNHQ but inevitable if they think the specific moderation applied to any transgender debates is an effective way to manage this issue in order to keep the trans lobby off their backs & well away from their sponsors.

DeviTheGaelet · 18/02/2017 12:02

I am going to try asking in a more open way and we will see if she answers 😊

I've seen a few comments elsewhere on MN, especially recently, to the effect that only on FWR are women frothy or intolerant re trans (and men too, for that matter). This intrigues me. I wonder what the truth is?

Glitteryunicorn · 18/02/2017 12:42

Good question devi Grin

venusinscorpio · 18/02/2017 13:03

I think the truth is that a) people don't give it much thought if they're not directly affected and b) they're not aware of the truth of the situation or the extent of what is going on.

venusinscorpio · 18/02/2017 13:04

If Ian Huntley does get moved to a women's prison, say, I imagine there would be some comment.

theoracleofdelphi · 18/02/2017 13:22

Again - his rights as a "woman" would trump the real women's rights to be safe. Angry

Twogoats · 18/02/2017 15:38

The Ian Huntley thing is freaking me out. I hate seeing that monster's face! Sad

Datun · 18/02/2017 15:45

I was one of the ones who got banned on the other web chat.

They didn't say why, specifically.

They didn't say you are not allowed to ask about trans. I suppose it could be that they say you're only allowed to ask one question per person.

Bambambini · 18/02/2017 16:23

I want to see a petition started in support of Huntley (like Tara Hudson had) and for it to go viral over FB and social media. It should be sent to every trans activist organisationI like Stonewall and Pride, all the University Unions to get them behind it. Ask them to organise a march for Huntley. The press could report on it. I think we should bombard our MPs (especially Maria Miller) to support Huntley in being recognised as a woman and being transferred to a womens prison.

BeyondUnderthinking · 18/02/2017 16:35

I was banned too. Promised (voluntarily) that I'd stay away from webchats in future though when I was reinstated.

BeyondUnderthinking · 18/02/2017 16:40

Looking forward to the EF article "62 ways female prisoners are more privileged than Lian Huntley"

MercyMyJewels · 18/02/2017 16:43

Beyond

Before you keep that promise, Have a look at the debate on this issue, hosted by the Heritage foundation. This is what we can talk about when we have a voice. It's in this thread. Debate

Definitely a call to activism
