The link is a big collection of how many trans activists responded to the women's March.

I must admit, I've had a good chuckle at some of these!

I believe trans activists have actually complained about the term 'FGM' Angry because campaigning against the mutilation of vulnerable girls aged 0-13 is less important than their fragile male egos. Sad

Gallavich · 25/01/2017 12:12

Nerds with vaginas Facebook got shut down by TAs for not being 'inclusive'
After legal action they are now back Grin

I've had to hide a FB friend who is transitioning at the moment.
The women's March has been made all about them, cissexism, and how women are elitist cunts.
I'm quite shocked because up until then, I was pleased that this person has the chance to live how they want to live and be happy, and the sycophantic wailing and teeth gnashing in the hundreds of comments, the inevitable blocking of people who didn't go along completely with what this person was complaining about.

To me, gender is a made up thing. Sex is about biology, a penis is never, ever female, and I wonder how fucking bonkers some people have to be to go along with this shit.

BlahBlahBland · 25/01/2017 12:19

And the PeachyYogurt video someone shared was excellent, thank you to whoever linked it.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/01/2017 12:57

I was arguing about trans rights with a libfem on Twitter & then saw this petition about the Acton FGM Community Clinic, which supports FGM victims and is about to lose its funding.

When I suggested we discuss something more urgent and shared the link with her, she immediately retweeted. I don't think the term "Female Genital Mutilation" being cissexist even occurred to her, she just knew it was a shit thing happening to women.

Datun · 25/01/2017 13:04

I caught the tail end of a piece on radio two discussing dystopian novels like 1984. They were identifying similarities of the totalitarian way of governing, using the constant threat of war, or violence to keep people in line.

The three men talking about language and how if you redefine the meaning of words, you cannot discuss the problem, and therefore cannot fight back.

Which is exactly what is happening.

The "activist" who has made me rage is Cherno Biko, a transwomen who SPOKE AT THE WOMEN'S MARCH IN WASHINGTON despite having ADMITTED IN WRITING TO BEING A RAPIST.

Biko raped a transman after they met online. Biko then wrote a ghastly self-pitying article about committing this rape, framing Biko as the main victim here. It's just disgusting. Biko describes blocking their victim's phone number as a response to "unhealthy" texts - the transman was trying to get Biko to contribute to the prophylactic drugs they needed to help prevent HIV and pregnancy. (Biko refused to help.)

Biko has since edited then deleted the article, but a version has been archived here:

maleviolence.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/overcoming-sexual-assault-e28094-medium.pdf

And yet this rapist is there on social media, complaining "cissexism", and being given a fucking platform.

Sittinonthefloor · 25/01/2017 13:23

Thank you for sharing that link empress, is it worth starting a thread?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/01/2017 13:26

There are threads already, in both Feminist Activism and Feminist Chat.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 25/01/2017 13:27

Thanks Countess.

Elendon · 25/01/2017 13:37

When I speak to my mum this evening I'm so telling her about the' Ninety, Nasty and Not giving up', she will love it.

Great links here about the day, made me feel proud to be a woman. At last!

Elendon · 25/01/2017 13:39

And no man is going to piss on my parade!

Sittinonthefloor · 25/01/2017 13:43

I've never been to the feminist topic (unless a thread is on active Blush) . You might get a bigger audience in chat - I'm sure lots of people will want to support the clinic.

LumelaMme · 25/01/2017 13:55

Belated thanks to Empress and Saskia. Off to have a read while eating my rather late lunch.

Twogoats · 25/01/2017 20:40

One thing I've just thought, how do the trans activists not know that some of the women speaking and holding 'cissest' signs were trans women?

After all, if trans women look just like cis-women, then surely you wouldn't be able to tell? After all, most trans women 'pass', don't they?

Twogoats I think they assumed their gender Grin

AltheaThoon · 25/01/2017 22:18

Women referring to their biology = transphobic
LGBT events must only focus on the T otherwise = transphobic
Lesbians must accept transwoman as partners otherwise = transphobic

I'm finding these accusations of transphobia rather tiresome.

venusinscorpio · 25/01/2017 22:35

It's lost all its remotely reasonable meaning. People are just going to think "yeah, whatever".

ArcheryAnnie · 27/01/2017 11:17

I have to get this off my chest.

If I see another post describing the women's marches and/or the pink pussy-hats described as "white feminism" or "white supremacy", I am going to run amok.

First of all, it's utter bollocks, done as a cheap and easy way of painting feminists as inherently bad people. Talk about women's biology? YOU MUST BE A RACIST AS WELL AS A TERF! Also it's usually white activists who say it, which adds an extra wtf on top of it all.

But more importantly, it erases the work and presence of BAME women in the movements. Whenever I see stuff like this:

The right of the pussy to its health is not more important than the right of the transwoman to her life, nor is it more important than the right of the woman of color to a mainstream feminism that is not coded white by default.

...all it makes me think is that the author, Josephine Livingstone, just doesn't see Black women when they are present, or imagine their female bodies are, well, female and important too. It's her who codes feminism as white, and she's wildly projecting. (From this article: newrepublic.com/article/140063/problem-pussy )

Or ""I think it ended up being a white cis women march,", from this load of old bollocks: mic.com/articles/166273/how-the-women-s-march-s-genital-based-feminism-isolated-the-transgender-community#.W6paA3Shw

And worst of all, it completely ignores that it's very, very recent that some women are able to talk about their female bodies without shame, and for many women, this still isn't possible at all. I can't imagine saying the word "pussy" at all in some of my own family circles, and certainly not in front of men, because it just wouldn't be culturally acceptable. These "progressive" articles all contribute to making sure that many, many women will never get the opportunity to talk about their bodies without shame at all.

venusinscorpio · 27/01/2017 11:25

Hooray for genital-based feminism. I'm all for it. Now fuck off and leave us alone.

dudsville · 27/01/2017 11:33

I'm with you and similarly minded pps Venus. And I'll add that clearly the marches weren't exclusionary, the evidence is that lots of men were there too.

ArcheryAnnie · 27/01/2017 11:38

dudsville I am also over "exclusionary" as a criticism. These marches were very inclusive, but everything needn't be inclusive if the women involved don't want them to be. It's absolutely OK to occasionally exclude people who are not women from events which focus on women.

venusinscorpio · 27/01/2017 11:45

Even if you believe or accept that transwomen are women, which I don't, the vast majority of women worldwide have vaginas. So yes, vaginas and their issues are obviously highly relevant to women as a class.

ethnographyofoctonauts · 27/01/2017 11:46

Yes to genital-based feminism being inclusive of all ethnicities classes and abilities. Men are welcome to support and engage provided they help further the rights of females not tell us to shut up about our reproductive organs.
