Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

America would rather be led by someone who boasts of assaulting women, than a woman

And some people think we don't need feminism any more.

I think that all the talk of rights being eroded, and racism is essentially pointless. We are one low blood sugar event away from him flipping out. At that point 100 million people will get heated to the point where their shadows catch fire. Then we are all in survival mode.

BarbarianMum · 10/11/2016 17:27

Fine if you don't like Clinton but where on earth do you get that from? Electioneering with pneumonia makes you look the opposite of physically weak - most people with it are propped up in bed for a week. And mentally weak, seriously? How? When?

Lottapianos · 10/11/2016 17:39

Clinton looking weak? Never heard such nonsense. The woman is an inspiration

Farage really is a creature from the sewer, isn't he? He's the gift that keeps on giving in terms of trying to identify rock bottom. Much like his new BFF Trump

Pizanfan · 10/11/2016 17:42

I get the hate for Trump, although i disagree with why you hate him, I understand why he is hated...

But the love for Hillary is flat out stupidity!

Both candidates were bad candidates, Trump is a moron and could've been beaten by a thousand female politicians, Hillary was the reason Hillary lost, not her genitals!

YonicProbe · 10/11/2016 17:57

Did he, Bertrand?

Bell end.

Elendon · 10/11/2016 18:28

Of course Donald Trump is the look all young men aspire to! They want hamster hair, orange skin, overweight pudginess and a mouth that pouts. What's not to love!

Trump is the one who looks ill. There was a prescient comedy sketch once about a man voted president who wouldn't get out of bed. That's Trump!

Elendon · 10/11/2016 18:30

Oh, and the USA would rather a president with balls. Isn't that right fan?

Lessthanaballpark · 10/11/2016 18:36

What's pissing me off is how the focus in the media has been on white women "pushing" Trump to victory because 53% voted for Trump. And the misogynistic comments that follow blaming women.

Yet no one seems to pick up that 74% of white men voted for Trump. Because white men voting for white men is the norm and to be expected. Hmm

YonicProbe · 10/11/2016 18:48

Yy less.

DeviTheGaelet · 10/11/2016 18:49

Don't know if piza is still around but just in case have a read of this from everyday sexism

VestalVirgin · 10/11/2016 18:51

This, exactly, Lessthan. I understand the emotional reaction; I, too, do not expect much from men and feel more betrayed when women do stupid shit like this - but some people make it look like the women who voted for Trump are more to blame than the men who did. And that's just plain nonsense.

It is okay to be angry at the women who betrayed their own sex, but one should never lose sight of the fact that it is men who elected Trump.

Had only women been allowed to vote, then the results would have looked very differently.

noblegiraffe · 10/11/2016 18:54

I found an article about the woman who wore a 'Trump can grab my' t-shirt to a rally usuncut.news/2016/10/14/this-picture-of-a-trump-supporter-is-literally-everything-that-is-wrong-with-america-image/

It reminds me of when Chris Brown beat up Rihanna and loads of women said that he could beat them up any time. www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/horrible-reactions-to-chris-brown-at-the-grammys

It all raises questions of internalised misogyny. Of course there are just hateful women out there who are racist and nasty but I would say there's also something in the "if you can't beat them join them" philosophy and it feeling better to go along with the prevailing system at full speed in order to convince yourself that everything is ok and that you're not affected by it.

Devithegaelet

Thanks for posting that, as i've mentioned a few times FB memes, Tumblr posts and Buzzfeed articles are not citable sources, and should not be taken seriously. If thats where you get your info then please find elsehwere to educate yourself.

At least half of that list is intellectually incorrect, for example:

When he says women should be ‘punished’ for controlling their own reproductive systems, that’s #EverydaySexism

This is just a flat out lie, he never said he would punish women who wanted to control their own bodies, I like the way it quotes the word 'punish' to gain credibility. What he said was that he would punish women who break the law, within the context of abortion being made illegal, those who broke the law would be punished. When the law in the UK came in about driving while using the phone, did you not comply or receive punishment?

I am not a lifer, but if abortion becomes illegal you have 2 choices, comply or recieve punishment.

Do you now understand why these FB memes are not to be taken seriously, they are agenda'd dumbed down snippets of false info design to be easily spoon fed and swallowed to people who don't want to research but push a narrative.

Xenophile · 10/11/2016 21:37

Well, thankfully, it seems that Obama has put an end to Trump's desire to control women's healthcare. So he won't be able to punish all those women he was looking forward to punishing.

Poor lamb.

Pluto30 · 10/11/2016 21:41

During the debates, Donald Trump only ever spoke about late term abortion, not abortion in general. There are a lot of pro-choice people who are also against late term abortion.

But, I don't think he'll touch the abortion laws. Roe v Wade was a landmark case, and that kind of thing can't be changed easily. He'd be sealing his own fate by even trying (there's a reason previous Republican presidents have either never tried or never gotten far with it).

Sorry my link doesn't meet academic standards for defining sexism as defined by you

BertrandRussell · 10/11/2016 21:43

"This is just a flat out lie, he never said he would punish women who wanted to control their own bodies,"

Well, that's a cab bit of barrack room lawyering! What he said was that a) he wants to restrict abortion rights and b) women should be punished for having abortions.

Pizanfan · 10/11/2016 21:43

You mean people breaking the law.

See now when you put it in terms of his desire, and looking forward to punishing your not acting smart, you clealry know the context of the talk, but because of your hatred you actually want to twist it to convince others to hate.

I have no idea why people are like this, if you hate him great, as I do, but do so honestly, because when your dishonest you actually harm women, and the feminist cause, and I understand I am coming across brash, but I havn't worked this hard for womens issues to have it hampered by anger and hate from the people I fight for!

DeviTheGaelet · 10/11/2016 21:44

"Intellectually incorrect" Grin
You are very entertaining

DeviTheGaelet · 10/11/2016 21:45

" I havn't worked this hard for womens issues to have it hampered by anger and hate from the people I fight for!" Grin
Do some more! This is great!

Xenophile · 10/11/2016 21:49

No dear. I don't want people to hate anyone. And, if you have done any work for women's issues, when you show so little understand of the concept, I would actually be astounded.

Jog on, kitteh.

I have no idea how piz can post how they do and then have the audacity to say educate yourself

Pizanfan · 10/11/2016 21:51

Bertrand

No he didn't! He clearly said that his view on abortion is pro life and in line with the catholic church.

He then said that if abortion was banned, it would be illegal to have an abortion, and any woman who did have an abortion would have to have some form of punishment. What that punishment could be noone could say.

Do you not believe someone breaking the law should be punished?
