The point of a civil suit would be to win, not to make money. However, I doubt the victim wants to go through this again. Who would trust the law after this?

The defendant would probably ignore the claim and let judgment go by default. Then make himself bankrupt and make the judgment permanently worthless.

Yes, yes it really is. The new witness in this trial had nothing material to offer about the night in question. All he testified to was her general sexual history. He wasn't present, he didn't witness anything. Also, the money was offered on behalf of the accused, whereas generally a reward will be offered on behalf of the victim, if offered at all.

Can I put out a general appeal to any men posting here to please bear in mind that this is the feminism chat board, and that a lot of women here tonight are hurting and angry for very personal reasons. And to please think about that when you are posting and ask yourself if this is really the correct forum and the right for a good dose of masculine objectivity?
