Welcome, everybody.

Happy Friday.

OP posts:

Exhausted is the word. Are MNHQ all on holiday or something? One of our new friends has now admitted to being on the wind up for the shitz n giggles and he's still there.

You seen the latest on the rape myth thread? Apparently because some women like being passive during sex men can stop worrying about asking because hey ho if she's lying there motionless she's probably just passive by nature or a bit embarrassed.

I am going to have to take a break from MN for a few days before I spontaneously combust.

Felascloak · 25/10/2016 18:42

Honestly that thread is AWFUL.
I really hope there is a good dose of sock puppeting going on or i despair at the state of humanity.

MostlyHet · 25/10/2016 19:01

Glugs a pink gin, shoves bottle to Felas.

I will PM you my latest work of fiction if you want, written as a piece of catharsis in response to recent events.

Xenophile · 25/10/2016 19:05

"I fear for my sons" is such a load of old bolleux. I don't fear for my sons because "crying rape" isn't a bloody thing and because they have both been brought up by a woman who has clear and outspoken views on consent. Poor little buggers didn't get a chance to be asshats. Unlike some of the fucking fuckers on the boards at the moment. Funny how a man "getting one over on the stupid women" does this, was the same when the footballer got out of prison too.

Mainlining gin seems like a positive option.

Fuckingitup · 25/10/2016 19:06

I've never had pink gin. Is that what the popular ardent feminists drink?

MostlyHet · 25/10/2016 19:12

I was at a friend's party at the weekend and she had a very fine bottle of cranberry flavoured gin. Not my usual, but very nice.

I think gin could well be a feminist drink, in honour of the struggle for reproductive rights.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 25/10/2016 19:12

I need a drink too...

NeverEverAnythingEver · 25/10/2016 19:12

I think I've got some pink stuff in the fridge. V. feminine. Grin

Xenophile · 25/10/2016 19:17

Sloe gin is terribly feminist.

At least, this is what I tell myself Grin

NeverEverAnythingEver · 25/10/2016 19:22

Is it because it's pink?

A man Someone once told me that women buy cars based on colour while men look at the practicality. Hmm Grin

Xenophile · 25/10/2016 19:26

Yes, a car salesman told me the same. This was shortly before we left the showroom because he kept referring questions about torque and BHP to DH and I had to answer him.

ChocChocPorridge · 25/10/2016 19:28

Sloe Gin.. I can't make it, because when I do, I just drink it as soon as it's ready....

ROFL - they should meet my DP. We needed a second car do juggle dropoffs/work, I said we should get something small, maybe an automatic, relatively modern for convenience, but otherwise what it was didn't matter (we have a main car for big trips - this was just a runabout). What did he go out and buy? A 12 year old Mazda RX-8. I was LIVID. He's banned from picking another car now. I shall choose the next one.

ChocChocPorridge · 25/10/2016 19:29

Oh, and he gets to drive that one, and I'm sticking with the big car. He made his bed, he can lie in it.

MostlyHet · 25/10/2016 19:34

I still remember back when we were penniless students, my ex's dad gave us his old car. He looked his son slowly up and down then said "Mostly, let me show you how to check the oil and water levels." Grin

Felascloak · 25/10/2016 20:19

Yes please to fanfic mostly Grin

MostlyHet · 25/10/2016 20:22

On its way!

Fuckingitup · 26/10/2016 12:34

I can't tell how much is plain stupidity, goading or genuine misguided attempts to reason. I haven't been around enough to treat it as "debating' Trying not to get sucked in on another thread where an OP was genuinely seeking opinions.

Maybe just an Aaarrrgghhh!!! here would do and then avoid the threads.

Felascloak · 26/10/2016 12:41

I might go sloe picking tonight actually.
Thankfully the regretful sex thread is closed now. What a bunch of trombones there were on there.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2016 12:52

Does this pub serve real ale? What's on the pump? I need a drink after the 'chivalry' thread.

MostlyHet · 26/10/2016 13:29

What's your preference, Yet? Hoppy southern ale or stand-the-spoon-up northern ale? I'm sure I put in an order for a virtual barrel or ten of Black Sheep, but I can get in something hoppier if you'd like.

I ended up having to hide both those threads for the sake of my blood pressure. In a bizarre sort of way I prefer the troll on the chivalry thread - at least he's only out to take the piss. The rape apologists are dangerous - they are the people who inform the views of juries.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2016 13:48

Thanks!

I'm a bit of a mild ale fan (unfashionable I know), although I also love Northern bitters - so I could definitely do a Black Sheep! But those new-fangled extra-hopped IPAs with a side order of hops just don't do it for me.

I had one look at the rape apologist thread and ran away. I see no point in interacting with on-line stick-pokers. There are too many battles in the real world.

VestalVirgin · 26/10/2016 13:51

You wrote a fic about recent events, Het? Which fandom? Or, regardless which fandom, I want a link. Smile

VestalVirgin · 26/10/2016 15:30

Ah, found it. Perfect!

MostlyHet · 26/10/2016 16:18
Grin
FreshwaterSelkie · 26/10/2016 17:21

Pint of IPA for me please. So very over being mansplained to about feminism by men who are about a quarter as bright as they think they are. In fact, better make it two pints. First one won't touch the sides Grin
