Having been directed to this test by someone who has come to mn to enlighten us all as to how we are all wrong to think "trans are in league with the devil" (wtf?!) and how "yes gender is not provable, but neither is God and we all believe he is real" (again wtf?!), I decided to have a go. Apparently it is used as part of the diagnostic procedure, though this person does seem to be posting from Amercia.

I will warn you, it is a truly awfully written and unbelievably biased piece of bullshit, featuring spelling mistakes, leading questions, and at one point the wrong "there"!! It didn't take too long though, and thanks to it I now know that I am a man. There are issues with some questions raised that can easily be 'answered' by my asd, so it's a tad biased there too.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else fancied having a go at it too...

Your Raw Score is: 415, which indicates that overall you are Androgynous

Your appearance is Feminine

Your brain processes are mostly that of a Androgynous person.

You appear to socialize in a androgynous manner.

You believe you have mild conflicts about your gender identity. (???)

You indicated your were born Female.

ANALYSIS:
Female to Male Crossdresser
NOTES:

You are in a statistical minority as a anallophilic crossdresser. Most crossdressers are heterosexual. Your motivation for crossdressing may be driven by the undirected nature of your sexuality, as a way to more fully explore the Male gender role.

This analysis is of a woman who last owned a pair of jeans in 1990, has owned possibly 5 or 6 tailored trousers in her entire life and none in the last decade and whose current wardrobe has at least 50 dresses, mainly 1940s tea dresses and full skirted 50s dresses and think Dior's New Look is the ultimate style icon.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/09/2016 23:27

The obsession with arousal was very odd wasn't it. The sewing one got me too, I like sewing and make curtains/blinds etc quite happily but I've no desire to join a quilting circle and it doesn't give me the horn either.

CancellyMcChequeface · 01/09/2016 23:29

I'm liking all the female aspies being told we have male brains. Just shows how flawed many diagnostic tests are when it comes to females with autism. Damn us and our non "lady brains".

This. Of course, the test may be operating under the assumption that autism is 'extreme male brain' which as you probably know has been a barrier for so many women and girls seeking diagnosis and not being taken seriously - because they must have ladybrains, right? Yet more evidence of the damage caused by gender stereotypes.

I like maths. And Star Trek. And creative writing. But not hugs or proximity to strangers, and I notice all the noises mentioned in the test because I have a sensory sensitivity to it.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/09/2016 23:31

We sound similar stylewise Lass, I can honestly say if you lined up all the women in my office I'd probably be the last one you'd ever list as androgynous.

DH is currently pissing himself laughing at my results.

BertrandRussell · 01/09/2016 23:32

To be serious for a bit- we all found that test entertaining. But if you were very unhappy and confused about why and you came across that test 5)3 consequences could be catastrophic, surely?

HairyLittlePoet · 01/09/2016 23:33

Oh crikey
now I really really really want one of us to create an online gender test with an algorithm that has stuff like "do you believe that women should be able to freely choose their professions, hobbies, opinions, and clothing without this having any bearing on their womanhood?"
Yes > you are an Evil TERF who must DIAF immediately
No> you are entirely correct, women who wear trousers and do maths are certainly transmen in denial and must be ejected from the woman club forthwith for jeopardising essential feminine stereotypes which run contrary to the glorious cause.

Anyone?
I'll happily fund the purchase of a domain name.

Arf. I am androgynous, with female brain processes and a female to male cross dresser with mild gender conflicts. All bollocks.

I got to Q46 and my only thought was 'fuck off!' so I haven't been able to complete it.
But honestly what a big steaming heap of shite.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/09/2016 23:39

I'd like to make it a serious one, actually:

What do you have between your legs:
A) Dangly bits
B) no dangly bits

What would you prefer to wear
A) a cute dress
b) jeans and a shirt

Answers:
AA - congratulations you're a male who like to wear dresses. This means you're a man
AB - congratulations you're a male who likes to wear jeans. This means you're a man.
BA - congratulations you're a female who likes to wear dresses. You're a woman.
BB - congratulations you're a female who likes to wear jeans. You're a woman.

Extend to add in maths puzzles, jobs, sexual attraction and whatever else. Result will still match biology!

ijustwannadance · 01/09/2016 23:43

The test was updated in 2002 so original maybe 20 years old or more?
I played the game Myst in my teens back in the 90's.

It's a load of tosh but I can see how damaging it could be to someone vulnerable looking for an answer.

tabulahrasa · 01/09/2016 23:50

"I can see how damaging it could be to someone vulnerable looking for an answer."

Well it's got me wondering why it thinks I'm a confusing androgynous intersexed person - and I'm very very sure I am a woman by any definition of one, including most crappy gender stereotypes TBH.

So yeah, it could be pretty harmful for some people.

WankingMonkey · 01/09/2016 23:50

I gav e up on it when it seemed to decide before I finished questions that I was a man? Just on how the questions were written down. I also had to guess on the jigsaw question as the whole thing failed everytime I clicked it. Poor. I expect I am supposed to be a man though. I shall go and fin d a penis I would like tomorrow..DH is decent at sewing, he can do it for me. Save the strain on the NHS when everyone off here turns up with their results Grin

What a fantastic idea that is. Yes Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 01/09/2016 23:54

I'm pretty sure almost everyone who played computer games in the 90s played Myst at one point. It was how my DH wooed me Blush.

Me too. I answered very stereotypically (and honestly) on things like car engines, power tools and carpentry and animal preferences (I'm assuming cats and foxes and lemurs are a bit girly)

It is spectacularly badly designed and written. And I say that as someone who is technically more qualified than the alleged creator of the questionnaire.
The premise is you're a man. That you are either suffering from a sexual repression and/or sexual excitement resulting from a dislike of your own body or desire to dress as a female. It finds sexual desire in all sorts of situations where there are none like DIY or housework. It assumes a natural reticence or any social disfunction had a trans origin. It assumes maths and science confidence is evidence of maleness.
Incredibly lazy and dangerous for anyone even slightly confused about their identity.
I am in possession of a uterus, a big fuck off drill, science A Levels and a dress.

pontificationcentral · 02/09/2016 01:11

But giddy, have you shaved your legs? Or just your face?

MrsFionaCharming · 02/09/2016 01:18

Female to Male Transsexual, who is a serious candidate for Gender Reassignment Surgery
NOTES:

Your Answers indicate your psychological state has likely prevailed since you were quite young.

I don't know what I answed to imply that. I definitely am not interested in 'Gender Reassignment Surgery'. I'm very happy with my bits, thanks.

WankingMonkey · 02/09/2016 02:30

The focus on arousal..this has clearly been written by a bloke, for blokes right. First thing that comes to mind is that word we are not meant to say...autogynephilia.

thedogstinks · 02/09/2016 04:06

That shit must've been written by a man in the 1960's, surely???!!

powershowerforanhour · 02/09/2016 04:12

I got androgynous for everything (probably because I like science and am nice to people) FTM crossdresser (huh?) who has "what I believe to be normal doubts about my gender identity" even though I ticked all the yes I am a woman in the right body boxes.
Agree about the lack of "I have already breastfed and don't need to shave my face" answers- the test was written by a man, for men (women tacked on as "other").

nooka · 02/09/2016 04:41

Why do I get suckered in by these tests! That one was quite tedious. Oh well better than the last one I did which stated that I was in fact a man (not even that I thought I was a man, but I actually was biologically male). This one thinks I am transexual but worried about passing. I probably am quite androgenous to someone with very strong views about gender performance, but that's just because I don't really believe in performing femininity (seems like a lot of work to me).
