Yeah, I agree, the resignation allowed Ada to dictate the terms, which allowed Ada to take no responsibilty whatsoever for the hurt and harm that they've caused.
I don't want to appear heartless, but the suicide attempt is irrelevant to Ada being pulled up on the abuse that Ada has dished out. It's the hallmark of an abuser, when confronted with their wrongdoing, to turn things around to make them the abused one, and suicide threats are often deployed to this end. I'm sorry that Ada is so disturbed, but that doesn't give them free rein to run round threatening violence to other people and expecting not to be challenged on it. They need to take accountability for their shitty behaviour and none of that resignation speech did any such thing.
It allowed Ada and the powers that be at the uni to save face, and said absolutely nothing about how Edinburgh will protect its female students in the future. Not really good enough, tbh.
