Following on from this one General Trans thread
Because I'm not Elsa and can't let it go Wink

Even a quick read of this thread suggest there is a lot of anger. ..
Some examples...

You don't need examples. I told you that we are angry

This "debate" between radical feminism and the trans community is being seen by mainstream as a particularly nasty fight with some issues, risks and fears (on both sides) being deliberately exaggerated.

And who do you think started the fight? I think you'll find some rad fem fears stem from being threatened with death and rape when they bring up objections to some of these 'issues' you glibly dismiss. Do you not think that's an understandable reaction? By the way, have you popped over to Twitter or Tumblr yet to plead with 'TERF' killers to be less aggressive?

As mentioned earlier, I may be completely wrong. Perhaps the best solution is to get even angrier, even more offensive and aggressive...

You know what, as I said we are angry and we are 'aggressive', if you term defending women's rights vocally and loudly and consistently aggressive Hmm

And to ensure everyone has their preferred pronoun on their name badges, as everyone is soo delicate with fuck all else to worry about.

ArcheryAnnie · 03/03/2016 16:31

Just posted this in another thread - is anyone going to the LSE event on Saturday? PM if so. (I won't expect you to declare yourself IRL, but it would be nice to know I'm not alone there, even if I don't know who you are.)

Greengager · 03/03/2016 17:23

Thought this comment in the Guardian article was very relevant.

"Here you have the uneducated and uninvolved making decisions on behalf of an extreme minority in hopes of preventing a statistically insignificant outcome. Any solution utilizing logic is doomed."

Hovis2001 · 06/04/2016 09:25

I thought people on this thread might be interested in this article:

www.independent.co.uk/voices/i-wont-be-referred-to-as-non-male-by-the-green-party-women-have-suffered-prejudice-because-of-their-a6967926.html

The bit where she points out that sex and gender are two separate things made me cheer inside.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 06/04/2016 15:19

Very interesting article Hovis, thank you.

Bambambini · 07/04/2016 11:21

Ok just registered to the Indepenent to read and be able to comment on the linked article - and had to state my gender so they can tailor and direct articles to me!

Hovis2001 · 07/04/2016 11:33

Bambambini

I also noticed that they had 'gender' and then the options as 'male' and 'female'. Nope, that's sex!

Bambambini · 07/04/2016 13:21

I know, I really wanted a neither option. What really annoyed was that they were already making assumptions as to what stories or adverts to direct at me.

Just delurking to post this. One three year old and two four year olds. Unbelievable.

MotheringShites · 13/04/2016 00:02

Actually this was the article a meant to post. It's more recent.

SomeDyke · 13/04/2016 10:43

I'm not sure what Laura Doan means by this quote, when she is referring to the case that more females than males have been referred:

"There is nothing 'natural' about how we express either femininity or masculinity. The fact that girls outnumber boys speaks volumes about the current status of girls and women in Britain today."

She could be saying that lesbianism or femaleness have become so limited or toxic that females are seeking to leave it (girlhood or womanhood) in greater numbers................But I'm no longer sure given queer theory, post-queer theory, whatever is the new trendy post-post-modern theory nowadays! Or perhaps I have been (trying) to read too much Judith Butler.................

And then we have the clinical psychologist quoted referring to surgery, saying:

"It's not really for us to approve or disapprove. "
Well, actually, ethically, it is, when what we are talking about here is major surgery without a physical cause, and 'treatments' which potentially leave young people sterile. Surgeons won't take yer leg off for psychological, dysphoria issues, but they will when it come to boobs and wombs!

CoteDAzur · 14/04/2016 13:04

Hi all. Would someone post the list of trans (or pretending to be trans) males who have attacked women in female-only spaces? I try to avoid this subject on FB but a friend is claiming that there has never been any problem with allowing trans in female spaces and I can't take it anymore. Thank you.

meddie · 14/04/2016 14:42
CoteDAzur · 14/04/2016 15:38

Thank you meddie.

meddie · 14/04/2016 16:25

Expect to get the response ahh but they arent genuine transwomen.
How the fuck are we supposed to know? With self identification if they say they are then they are.

VestalVirgin · 14/04/2016 16:29

@CoteDAzur: Be warned, your friend might try the "No true Trans" fallacy and claim that all those men were somehow not really trans. (Which is totally beside the point as no one can tell the difference between two men in dresses of whom one is trans and the other identifies as man in a dress, but women are always expected to be able to do the impossible.)

CoteDAzur · 14/04/2016 16:38

"Expect to get the response ahh but they arent genuine transwomen"

Can't. The fool actually claimed that there have been "exactly zero" attacks in bathrooms by transwomen and men pretending to be trans.

VestalVirgin · 14/04/2016 16:41

This is an epidemic.

purplesagefem.wordpress.com/2016/04/13/author-of-why-im-still-a-butch-lesbian-announces-shes-a-trans-man-now/

Is no one safe? If someone who wrote a book on her femaleness and acknowledgement of her femaleness, can fall prey to the trans ideology, then who is safe?

Well, I suppose the men's bathrooms are now safer, as all the creeps are in the women's bathrooms, but ... this is idiocy!

@SomeDyke: What is really weird, though, is that a woman who wants sterilization won't get it if she doesn't have three children and is over 30, or whatever - but if she says she feels like a man, then, sure, no problem, the womb is removed. The result is sterility in both cases, but apparently, that's a choice only men and those who identify as men get to make.

CoteDAzur · 14/04/2016 16:53

Great article, Vestal.

"One excellent comment was “I’ve felt hungry, happy, gassy, and anxious, but never male or female.” Same here! Male and female aren’t feelings—they’re biological classifications of the two types of reproductive functions in sexually dimorphic mammals—one who produces sperm, the other ova. It’s how we reproduce. We all know this"

^ This.

SomeDyke · 14/04/2016 21:37

Sad. Doesn't mean she was wrong in what she wrote earlier though............

And it was a shortish article online (you can find it with a quick google using the info that purplesage provides BTW).

I highly recommend tracking down the blogs written by FTM detransitioners that I think Purplesage links to. There you have accounts by women who transitioned, who passed very well as men for considerable periods of time, who went on T, had the surgery, the whole thing...........and then de-transitioned. Who, of course, get more than major shit from the trans activists for what they are saying.

meddie · 15/04/2016 11:57

Finally had a response from my local MP, usually 'we will pass on your concerns to the minister involved' interestingly on the bottom of the letter was a handwritten comment. 'I was not aware of the full implications of this change in law, thank you for raising this issue'.

Which I can only hope is positive.

Italiangreyhound · 16/04/2016 01:50

Vestal that article is very interesting.
