Following on from this one General Trans thread
Because I'm not Elsa and can't let it go Wink

Even a quick read of this thread suggest there is a lot of anger. ..
Some examples...

You don't need examples. I told you that we are angry

This "debate" between radical feminism and the trans community is being seen by mainstream as a particularly nasty fight with some issues, risks and fears (on both sides) being deliberately exaggerated.

And who do you think started the fight? I think you'll find some rad fem fears stem from being threatened with death and rape when they bring up objections to some of these 'issues' you glibly dismiss. Do you not think that's an understandable reaction? By the way, have you popped over to Twitter or Tumblr yet to plead with 'TERF' killers to be less aggressive?

As mentioned earlier, I may be completely wrong. Perhaps the best solution is to get even angrier, even more offensive and aggressive...

You know what, as I said we are angry and we are 'aggressive', if you term defending women's rights vocally and loudly and consistently aggressive Hmm

Glamour mag has a new trans columnist who is inviting tips on how to be a woman. Again her story starts with wanting to play with 'girls things' leading to gender identity issues. And still people think gender stereotyping of toys is not an issue. Wish we could celebrate difference more so people would accept themselves as they are. www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/news/features/2016/01/05/juno-dawson-columnist-on-transitioning-into-a-woman-part-1

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 26/01/2016 16:16

If one has a lady brain due to being 'born in the wrong body', then why does one need tips on how to be a woman?

venusinscorpio · 26/01/2016 16:33

At least the readers aren't being given tips on how to be a woman in Juno's column. I expect that's coming though.

WilLiAmHerschel · 26/01/2016 16:44

"Already, it's abundantly clear that living as a woman is hard work. I need your tips. Like, if there's some way I can stop my legs feeling like a cactus about five minutes after I've shaved them, I'm all ears."

That's not at all patronising.

Oh and "That feeling when you go out and worry you've left the hair straighteners on." Something all women can relate to.

venusinscorpio · 26/01/2016 16:54

I know, Herschel. Quite frankly the column made me want to vomit. And name checking Paris Lees, who is a fucking idiot who thinks women should be grateful for street harassment Angry

Stuffofawesome · 26/01/2016 17:33

Disclaimer : don't usually read women's mags. Twas a moment of desperation .

venusinscorpio · 26/01/2016 17:34

I look forward to all the trans men columns in Maxim, GQ, Men's Health etc.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 26/01/2016 19:11

Much as I hate to be on the same side as rabid pro lifers this is a good article. Stop scrolling at the end of the article as the linked ones at the bottom are horrible www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/the-danish-girl-people-arent-born-transgender-but-playing-dress-up-can-spar

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 26/01/2016 19:18

Juno - "I'd be a woman without medical procedures"

Just how? How in any fucking sense of the word woman is a fully intact male human a woman?

I accept trans people's rights to transition and call themselves the word associated with the opposite sex. I don't believe that makes them actually the real definition of that word, but hey. However - accept that a fully male person can just be a woman because he says he is - fuck. That.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 26/01/2016 19:20

Juno - There I was thinking that the Pill had forever changed what
it meant to be female

Nope. Where did you get such a stupid idea from?

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 26/01/2016 19:25

Greer also said that trans women "sound and look like men". But what does a woman sound like? What does a woman look like? Sometimes women are tall. Sometimes they're petite. Some are curvy, some are boyish. Some have dark skin, some are very pale. And yes, some have a penis

I've met some extremely masculine women but I have never, ever mistaken them for men. And vice versa. Juno and the 'but all women look different anway' is completely disingenuous in attempting to argue that male people are just a variation of women.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/01/2016 19:48

It's a really poor argument anyway. Some dogs are big, some are small, some are spotty, but it doesn't mean they are no different from cats.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/01/2016 19:51

But we have to just accept bad arguments when made in favour of trans ideology or we are just evil bigoted TERFs.

FFS. Slid in like a stiletto at the end there - some women have male sexual organs.

I'm very tall, I'm muscular and I don't have a uterus. Still not a man.

FreshwaterSelkie · 26/01/2016 20:23

Except, perhaps, some women with intersex conditions. But that's not who is being referred to here and the writer knows it.

FlyByNightSky · 26/01/2016 20:45

Picture the scene in the FlyBy house...

We are watching WinterWatch the well known transphobic series

The presenter is holding a white tailed eagle and discussing the differences between the males and females. She says that "they are sexually dimorphic " Shock

And DP shouts "TERF" at the screen Grin Grin Grin

I do love DP.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 26/01/2016 20:49

venusinscorpio · 26/01/2016 21:02

Lol @ Fly and Fly's DP :)

FlyByNightSky · 26/01/2016 21:03

And then a friend shared this on Facebook...

General Trans thread part 2
ArcheryAnnie · 26/01/2016 23:08

FlyBy oddly enough that cartoon has some truth in it - young people are being told again and again that the perfectly ordinary ways they are - their personalities - mean they "must" be trans. They are male but like to dress up - they are trans. They are female but like sports and kissing other women - they are trans. And so on and so forth. And lo, they are all trans.

(And a growing number, especially young lesbians who are pressured into identifying as trans men or nonbinary - because there's nobody as low-status in queer communities as common-or-garden lesbians - are then detranisitioning later, and feeling horribly betrayed.)

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/01/2016 23:12

I've never met a woman who has a penis.

A transwoman might have a penis, but an actual woman? No.

FlyByNightSky · 27/01/2016 07:13

ArcheryAnnie that was pretty much my point! People were liking it and I just found it... well... disturbing. The idea that young teenagers are being TOLD that they are trans based on a Tumblr conversation? Wtf?

HemlockSolanum · 27/01/2016 13:01

I am aware that when I was young and frustrated with constantly being told, "you can't do that, you're a girl" or "you don't act like a girl", I would have been vulnerable to trans rhetoric. I am glad it wasn't such a thing back then.
