Can we have a general Trans thread?

Brugmansia · 04/12/2015 02:33

Sorry for another trans thread and I feel this is a bit of an imposition given I don't post really.

Anyway reading FWR over the past few months has re-radicalised me. I've been reading lots here and wider.

Anyway just now been watching TV and there's been some stuff that's given me the rage but didn't seem to fit in existing threads or it's own thread.

Anyway thing that gave me the rage.
On BBC3 program on transgemder teen's the doctor just said "creating a vagina". Are doctors redefining vagina as pocket rather than a passage? Makes me want to screem.

Also Sarah Ditum being no platformed.

Okay, thanks - just checking! 'Trans' is an umbrella term and includes those who completely identify with a different gender right through to those who are turned on by wearing 'opposite gender' clothes so I don't think their mention is transphobic in of itself.
I get worried when people group all trans people together though, especially when it's to claim that trans people all believe in male/female brains or whatever as there's obviously lots of schools of thought.

BeyondJinglebells · 20/12/2015 15:32

The posts on the reddit page from the lesbians coerced into relationships with TW (the one saying this followed an earlier 'corrective' rape especially) are utterly heartbreaking :(

FinglesMcStingles · 20/12/2015 15:43

I'm not sure anyone's suggesting all trans people believe the same things. It's still true to say that the trans political narrative causes major problems. Do we need to start prefacing all comments with NATALT?

Anyway. Those who get turned on by wearing clothes designated for the opposite sex are part of the wider trans umbrella, yes. And that doesn't do the rest of the movement any favours. Autogynephilic TW are basically indulging in a sexual fetish in public, and if we refuse to play along with their sexual fetish we are called bigoted. That is all kinds of fucked up. Why on earth does the wider trans movement want these people to be on their team, as it were?

noeffingidea · 20/12/2015 15:54

Regarding the cotton ceiling, I can't imagine many straight (or bi even) women wanting to sleep with transwomen either, penis or not. Straight women are usually attracted to men that are actually masculine, not presenting themselves in a 'feminine' way. Personally I can't think of a bigger turn off.
I know there is a small group of people who are pansexual but I don't think many people are. Generally speaking, people know what they like and thats men that look like men, women that look like women, and actually have the genitals to match.

VashtaNerada · 20/12/2015 15:55

Yes sorry Fingles I admit I didn't read the whole thread. I've just read some assumptions before about trans people or trans activists which are based on the nasty nutjobs on Twitter and not the 'normal' trans people and was worried that was happening again.

In answer to your final question, I'm not sure all trans people do like each other, or agree on the definition of trans.

noeffingidea · 20/12/2015 15:57

And as a 'straight' woman, same goes for transmen as well. I couldn't imagine myself ever being attracted to one, even post surgery.

HermioneWeasley · 20/12/2015 16:12

vashta you didn't read the whole thread but thought you should come and check up on us anyway, make sure we're playing nicely, that type of thing?

The point is that the agenda and policies are being set by the vocal activists fit the benefit of men, the fetishists (and I'm happy to call steffonknee a freak) and to the detriment of women. Anyone who challenges it is abused.

BeyondJinglebells · 20/12/2015 16:12

I do find TM a hell of a lot more attractive than TW, but then i dont find many men attractive at all anyway. DH is somewhat androgynous, though he pokes me in the eye when i tell him so Grin

VashtaNerada · 20/12/2015 16:19

I did apologise twice Hermione Hmm Anyway, leaving now, it just caught my eye and was horrified to read the word "freak" so wanted to comment.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 20/12/2015 16:20

I would consider dating a trans man I think, some are very attractive but to me it's the same way that some butch women can be very attractive. I probably wouldn't date a trans man if he wanted his vagina involved though because I'm not attracted to vagina.
I definitely couldn't date a trans woman, even if they still had a working penis.

Oh ffs, I used the word 'freak' in reference to the autogenophiles on the link. Because they are fucking freaks. They are sexual deviants. I have no empathy or sympathy for them. I just want them to stay the hell out of female spaces. That applies to all aotogynophiles.

And I want all TW to be kept out of female spaces, because there is no way of knowing which ones are sexual deviants/have penises

I don't care if you find that offensive. I really dont

BeyondJinglebells · 20/12/2015 17:05

Apart from all the "i'm not comfortable using the word freak", who wants to guess how many times the word had been used on this thread. Go on, do an advanced search and have a look.

...

Its once

In response to this reddit post;

"So, went to see Star Wars and I decided to go with a dramatic look and I did my makeup like on point. Anyways, I get home after watching, what I could probably consider being my top 3 star wars movie and I look at the mirror and I'm super happy with my reflection. Like, I thought I looked pretty hot. I couldn't stop smiling at myself which made me blush and made me look all the better. To a point where I think I managed to arouse myself. I've been on hrt for 3 months and been going full time since june. And I haven't been aroused by being me before.
So tldr; I looked really hot(in my eyes ) and it turned me on"

TG people usually, in what i have seen, agree that autogynaphilia is somewhat freakish and say it is not representative of TGism as a whole. Dont they?

Cellardoor1 · 20/12/2015 17:14

Well the comments on reddit in response to that post are all saying its normal and are all 'you go girl' type posts. Wtf? I've never become aroused after admiring my makeup in the mirror. Do they really think that this is a thing women do?

ShortcutButton · 20/12/2015 17:30

Yes cella4, on account of them being deviant misogynist freaks

jorahmormont · 20/12/2015 18:20

I'm with Shortcut on this. Autogynephiles - along with anyone who follows the cotton ceiling bullshit - are freaks.

deviant misogynist freaks sums it up perfectly.

TheCarpenter · 20/12/2015 18:25

I am liking Reddit. Tumbler was frightening.

FinglesMcStingles · 20/12/2015 18:59

Excuse me apparently doing a bit of a u-turn here, but I disagree that all autogynephiles are deviant misogynistic freaks. The ones who indulge their fetish in public, sure. But there are autogynephiles who are perfectly respectful to women and don't indulge in public, and just happen to have some weird fantasies. So long as it all stays within the confines of their own brains and bedrooms then no harm done.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/12/2015 19:11

So long as it all stays within the confines of their own brains and bedrooms then no harm done. Absolutely. This is a case of their freedom to swing their arms around ends at the end of my nose.

FinglesMcStingles · 20/12/2015 19:19

That, and sexual fetishes have no business being aired in public. Because the general public have a right to go about their business without being confronted with and expected to engage with the sexual wossnames* of strangers.

*Technical term, shorthand for "my brain has temporarily given up on Words".

ShortcutButton · 20/12/2015 19:39

Well, they may not 'indulge' in public, but they certainly aren't respectful of women. And they ain't welcome to share women's spaces

FinglesMcStingles · 20/12/2015 20:07

Of course they're not welcome to share women's spaces - they're not women. It still doesn't follow that every autogynephile is necessarily disrespectful towards women (though doubtless many are). Some autogynephiles never go out in public looking like porn stars, and have no desire to be covered by the trans umbrella, and are just, well, men with an odd fetish.

I am having trouble putting my thoughts into words here. Mainly because autogynephilia is generally a forbidden topic, and so I haven't been able to read anyone else's thoughts on it. Can we talk about it now? Shortcut, can you elaborate on why you think autogynephilia is incompatible with respect for women?

HermioneWeasley · 20/12/2015 21:07

apparently even penises themselves know whether they are masculine or feminine

Can we have a general Trans thread?
7Days · 20/12/2015 21:44

Cute little blushing smooth girlcocks.

Proof!

Fucking nonsense. Still, give 'em enough rope.
