Men blaming our vaginas for things

I don't know about y'all, but this gets on my last nerve. If they want to insult us based on our sex, why do they have to get so personal and vulgar about it? Recently I heard some guys talking about their loved ones and saying they'd trust their friends first because "you can't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die".

The ignorance and these sexist remarks are just too much

That's such an old one, I heard it 35 years ago! Maybe they think it is pretty scary we have such a power! not that I do any more and not that I particularly enjoyed periods when I had them.

Tequilashotfor1 · 30/05/2015 20:06

They are dicks and they actually need your sympathy.

partialderivative · 30/05/2015 21:21

If they want to insult us

Possibly the most sexist post on here for quite a while.

FancyFeast42 · 30/05/2015 21:26

Isn't it? I was appalled when I heard that actually come out of one of their mouths. I've heard the expression before, but for men to actually think that way is beyond me.

OP posts:
lilacblossomtime · 30/05/2015 21:30

I liked the poster who called it a "VERgina" because it was hers and no-one else's. This poster kind of reminds me of her.

partialderivative · 30/05/2015 21:36

but your wording seems to imply that is how all men behave.

That is sexist and offensive.

partialderivative · 30/05/2015 21:37

Smile @ lilac

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/05/2015 21:38

Don't be so silly and self-centred, Partialderivative.

FancyFeast42 · 30/05/2015 21:40

I apologize you got those implications then. I thought it was obvious I was referring to the men I heard speaking that way. Now if we're done here can we get back to the actual subject at hand?

OP posts:
partialderivative · 30/05/2015 21:41

about what Countess?

FeijoaSundae · 30/05/2015 21:47

It was perfectly obvious, Fancy, ignore the derailer.

partialderivative · 30/05/2015 21:47

Fancy, please state your issue clearly.

It was certainly not obvious what you meant from your OP.

You used an 'us' and 'them' type of terminology that implied your issue was with all men, as did your thread title.

YonicScrewdriver · 30/05/2015 22:03

Partial, do you think the OP's post is more sexist than what she heard? That was about all women, or at least all women of menstruating age.

MagentaVitus · 30/05/2015 22:07

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 30/05/2015 22:17

OP of course you should have written not all men are like this but I have heard some / lots / whatever say negative things about women's reproductive parts most recently some men who were talking about their loved ones (!) and said "you can't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die".

If you don't phrase it like that you are a grossly offensive sexist and far far worse than any of the men you have heard referring to women (all women) as nothing more than cunts etc and so on.

OK good now maybe we can talk about it.

OP I have heard that but in the form of a "joke", never in a chatting kind of way, and especially directed at their female partners / mothers / daughters etc. That seems bizarre and really quite extreme Confused

WhirlpoolGalaxyM51 · 30/05/2015 22:19

Maybe it's because not all men are sexist but actually all women are cunts?

It's worth consideration. Certainly there will be plenty who argue that it is the case.

AnyFucker · 30/05/2015 22:20

not all men ?

yawn fucking yawn

mrstweefromtweesville · 30/05/2015 22:28

"you can't trust anything that bleeds for 7 days and doesn't die"
I did some psychology studies many years ago and this was given as one of the reasons men fear women and try to subjugate them. You weren't hanging around with psychologists, were you?

mrstweefromtweesville · 30/05/2015 22:29

Oh, and its my uterus that bleeds, not my vagina. If my vagina bled, I'd be concerned.

Sammasati · 30/05/2015 22:32

My fav saying is......

People say grow a pair (of balls),
They are soft, squishy delicate wee things.
I say grow a vagina..... They can take a pounding Wink

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 30/05/2015 22:38

Nice try, partialderivative, but "If [men] want to insult us based on our sex..." is very different from; "Since all men want to insult us based on our sex..."

Sammasati · 30/05/2015 22:41

I do get really fucked off when women are seen as hysterical, a term referring to their wombs and overies.....hysterectomy. Or when people say things like well she is just emotional because she obviously has pmt or on her period. No sometimes women are emotional because something emotional has happened.

I do get quite pissy at stupid comments directed at womens cycles.

KateBeckett · 30/05/2015 22:49

I used to work with a guy who would say he could tell when I was on my period. He couldn't, he pissed me off with his twatishness at all times of the month!

He also once said he could smell when a woman was on her period. I've since wondered if he is part bear...

Dp used to get really annoyed when I told him the latest stupid comment, of which there were any but not all related to my vagina or period so not necessarily relevant here...

PuffinsAreFictitious · 30/05/2015 22:54

Oh dear....

Men blaming our vaginas for things
Koalafications · 30/05/2015 22:58

It's just such a shit joke. It's not even remotely funny.
