We're running at about six weeks per pub at the moment! So if you want chat with a feminist flavour, or with fellow feminists, or just want to admire our patriarchy blaster cannon and goat - welcome!

Last pub Here

I have no idea what happened but I've just realised the pub had dropped off my "Threads I'm On" I thought everyone was just quiet Blush

Garlick · 05/07/2015 00:02

Were you swinging off the door, Yonic? Tsk.

YonicScrewdriver · 05/07/2015 07:50

I overloaded the rail.

I can blame patriarchy for me having too many clothes, right?

Somehow lost my way to the pub, found you all again. It has been gloriously hot and I am trying to spend time outside and not on the computer so please excuse me if I'm only here occasionally.

Definitely patriarchy's fault, Yonic Grin

BeyondTheWall · 05/07/2015 10:28

I'm wearing a blue dress, but not the blue dress from yesterday. It's the perfect dress to go and buy rice and sleeping bag in.

My favourite colours are all the turquoise variants. But I wear a lot of black & red because cheap clothes look better in black, and I get cast-offs from a red-loving family member.
The pennant of GarlickTheImpoverishedFeminist would have to be black, red and teal. No design prizes for that one!

If there were a coat of arms for the Bluestocking, it would certainly stand out Grin

NoTechnologicalBreakdown · 05/07/2015 12:58

I like yellow. Cheerful. Make sure that's in the flag.

Sorry about your dfil baking Flowers

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/07/2015 13:26

Exactly buffy. But the dress is also surprisingly good for eating lunch in.

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 05/07/2015 13:51

Ahem.

Drink, anyone?

YonicScrewdriver · 05/07/2015 14:06

Shouldn't 'feminist colours' be a range of colours, with no one colour being singled out for praise or scorn?

DepthFirstSearch · 05/07/2015 19:48

I've just come back from date night with my husband, where we got into a really good conversation about diversity at work (read: negligible in my industry) and the 'lean in' school of thought, which I generally like but OTOH, for me a huge obstacle is the lack of role models. There are barely any women at the level I'm aiming to get a promotion to next year, and don't get me started at the top level. And DH made a really good point, which is that for him, he always started working for the next promotion when he could look at the people at that level and think he could do a better job than them, to which I asked if it isn't easier for him because he is also a white anglosaxon middle aged man so he can narrow down the differences to talent, hard work, political acumen etc. while for me, the gap is so narrow by virtue of not being any of those (ok well, I am middle aged Grin) that I just almost cannot imagine myself getting there because I have no frame of reference whatsoever. He admitted that yes, having those similarities did help hime think 'well they are just like me so there is no reason why I shouldn't get that far'.

DepthFirstSearch · 05/07/2015 19:48

PS yes, we clearly know how to rock date night Hmm
