Women get misgendered by being called guys all the time.

Well Annethat just shows how different perceptions of words are to different people in different places.

"Folks" has none of that connotations for me and is perfectly acceptable as are. "Lass/lad/lassie/laddie/quine/loon.

"Chaps" is just silly "Ripping Yarns" stuff and is also fine.

I also would have no problem if I were in an all female group and a speaker were to address us with "good morning ladies" Why not if all are female?

"Guys" sets my teeth on edge. If a speaker addressed an all female group with me in it with "good morning guys " I'd think "prat "

Violet, interesting point about whatever word is used becoming less neutral over time if the start point isn't fundamentally neutral.
