OMG - they're trampoline parks - and there's two within an hour of us... I think I've found an easter holiday activity!

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 17/03/2015 13:06

Will nobody think of the pelvic floors?

AnnieLobeseder · 17/03/2015 13:08

Oh, Chunky, trampoline parks are amazing! Well, except the unlicensed one in Scotland that was in the news where people got badly hurt....

You should definitely go over Easter. I took my two on NY day after they'd been cooped up all Christmas and we all had cabin fever. Did us all the world of good to have a great big old bounce.

ChunkyPickle · 17/03/2015 13:16

Knickerful - I would put nappies on all of us if that's what it took for half hour in one of those places!

I've always wanted to fling myself into one of those pits filled with chunks of sponge like gymnasts do! Forget Easter, they've got spaces in sessions this weekend!

Thankyou, thankyou Annie for introducing me to this!

EBearhug · 17/03/2015 13:18

A trampoline. I used to love trampolining, but then I lost my nerve for somersaults, even with a coach right there. And to be fair, my inner risk assessor says no to a mix of alcohol and trampolines.

AnnieLobeseder · 17/03/2015 13:21

You're very welcome, Chunky. One word of warning though - the park we went to did indeed have a pit filled with chunks of foam that you could fling yourself into after bouncing across a trampoline. I, like you, thought it would be amazing fun. And it was. Until I tried to get out of the foam pit. And found myself floundering in the foam like some beached leviathan, completely unable to extricate myself while a line of very grumpy children glared at me as I was holding up the queue!! Blush

Now my name has unfortunate connotations!!

AnnieLobeseder · 17/03/2015 17:43

I though this was an interesting new angle on Men as Default. Women's struggles for decent prosthetics.

We can add it to the list along with drug doses, car safety and the way health care professionals are trained about the presentation of various conditions from autism to heart attacks.

Dammit, link fail!

I've just been looking at a thread about the ongoing abuse cover-up www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2333303-We-are-on-the-cusp-of-finding-out-that-senior-politicians-were-involved-in-abuse-and-there-was-a-cover-up-I-think-thats-inevitable-now?pg=2

I am probably going to get flamed, but I am just desperate to say somewhere that there seems to be a real problem with men in higher social positions full-stop. All hail those few humans who happen to be male that don't get involved. But generally it reminds me of an old Peter Gabriel song called Big Time. You get these men in high positions, high stress, high 'responsibility', and they all have to go off the rails somewhere and it usually involves illicit sex of some description. I presume it's just the type of males that are attracted to the heights.

GibberingFlapdoodle · 17/03/2015 18:17

The 'they all have to go off the rails' was wrong. Naturally I meant 'so many go off the rails'.

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/03/2015 18:39

If anyone is interested from the old pub: DS2 liked the squid and DS1 said it was OK.

VioletSquash · 17/03/2015 19:03

Popping in to say hello to the pub.

I've been a frequent lurker on this board for aaaaages, but now DH and I are expecting our first baby, I'm thinking I'd like to take a more active part, rather than just reading and nodding along.

Can I get anyone a drink?

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/03/2015 19:10

Quick wave to violet! Must go and supervise bedtime proceedings!

BeyondDoesBootcamp · 17/03/2015 19:17

Annie, i'm just in the middle of getting an official diagnosis of (possible) asd myself, have had to correct professionals on "more men/boys have autism" at every appointmnt so far Angry
Then of course i get the Hmm look for correcting them...

I have a quick question... What feminist pages do you recommend on the dreaded facebook? I do like everyday feminism for their disability related posts, but find some of their others...less agreeable.

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 17/03/2015 19:20

It looks like my contract is being extended, which is a relief as I loathe looking for new jobs.

Gibbering, re men in power. I think it's a bit of certain types of men being drawn to power, at least the ones who seek power as one of their goals rather than being there for the food of others. Then, when in power they have so many yes men around them that they can start to flex their privilege. Then there's an unspoken endorsement of the behavior so the next generation of power seekers colludes and so it goes on.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 17/03/2015 21:05

I really do need to do this degree and the post grad stuff quickly, don't I?
