Be gentle as I am new to thinking about this.

I found the Natalie Bennett's comments on decriminalising prostitution pretty persuasive - what am I missing?

She basically said that sex workers would like this policy (having contributed to it) and that research from other countries indicated it was the way forward.

icebeing and any other Green Party members, i've just had an email from them asking for suggestions for changes to policy? A good opportunity to submit something about prostitution...?

Taleggio · 12/05/2015 20:56

Although I've just noticed the deadline is midnight tonight! I only signed up to the greens this week so probably missed the earlier emails!

Good idea, if people really do feel that strongly about it. Let's see if anyone's prepared to join up to get it changed.

I think that, given how their equality dude was able to harass and abuse women with impunity, the Greens can actually go and fuck themselves.

Shame really, but I could never bring myself to vote for a party which had a misogynist bigot as their equality guy. It's all much of a piece with the male entitlement going on with the pro punter stance. Shows the party's basic belief system for what it is.

I'm also a Green member. I responded to their email in support of decriminalisation (of buying and selling sex between consenting adults) and pointed out the "Nordic model" does not work and would put sex workers in danger, a position supported by (among others) the World Health Organisation, Amnesty Int., and The UN HIV and the Law commission.

zayyele · 20/05/2015 18:03

"most posters do not want prostitutes criminalised"

Then they wouldn't support the Nordic model, as under that model it is illegal for prostitutes to work together. They would have to work alone to be within the law.

There were plenty of reasons for not voting Green and this was just another of them.

In certain circumstances I don't have a problem with the prostitute as well as her customers being criminalised.
