Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What do men think feminists should be focusing their energies on?

PetulaGordino · 08/02/2015 21:31

It's pretty clear that there are many men with constructive criticism to offer feminists in terms of what feminist issues they should be focusing their energies, activism and outrage on.

This vital advice is at risk of being lost, spread as it is among myriad threads in this section. Perhaps it would be a good idea to collect it together into one thread, for ongoing reference when posters in this section consider their feminist activities and whether they are really focusing on the right issues.

Obviously it should be borne in mind that feminists are only able to focus strictly on one topic at a time in terms of activism and outrage, so don't overload us with too many issues at once!

No, twatbadger, it isn't. You're wrong, we all know you're wrong, but we think you should find out why you're wrong and come back and apologise. Or even better, just not come back ever.

And please don't call me love again. It really does make you look like a smug cunt Grin

ravenAK · 08/02/2015 22:51

8 posts & you've caught a live one.

Ladies, I'm impressed Grin.

FarelyKnuts · 08/02/2015 22:51

Being such an expert on debate, you may have missed me asking you for evidence then Magnetic? You have me a story from your son.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/02/2015 22:52

Oh fuck it, Sardine! You know how poorly socialised I am in my womanly role. Can I not stick to swearing a lot and laughing in his face should I ever have the misfortune of meeting him?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones1984 · 08/02/2015 22:53

Actually it was my wife who advised me about this forum.

And we're so glad she did.

I think, judging purely on MN threads, we should be concentrating on (in no particular order:

male circumcision
why men can't run in the Race For Life
why divorce courts are run by the feminazi (I'm so glad that my spell checker doesn't recognise that word)
false rape accusations
dv refuge places for men

And thank you to Mag - a new one on me - why boys can't join the Guides.

PetulaGordino · 08/02/2015 22:53

I would definitely welcome advice from men to feminists on how to debate. This thread is an ideal location for it

"And please don't call me love again. It really does make you look like a smug cunt"

As I explained, it's a term of endearment. I call all women love.

RufusTheReindeer · 08/02/2015 22:54

I frequently lurk on this board

And I must say I am very very disappointed that the first man on here has only been able to bring up the dilemma of boy only spaces (cubs)

It's not actually a dilemma obvs, because the scouting organisation were desperate for girls to join so that the organisation did not completely disappear.

Of course men could start male only children's groups but they really can't be arsed...and how could a woman start a male only children's Group...being female and all that (although they do seem to manage)

I wax expecting a much better class of "what about the men" argument to be honest Sad

RufusTheReindeer · 08/02/2015 22:54

Or "this is how feminists should do it" arguments

Magnetic1 · 08/02/2015 22:55

"Being such an expert on debate, you may have missed me asking you for evidence then Magnetic? You have me a story from your son"

Are you saying my son is a liar? Hmm

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/02/2015 22:55

So, all women think you're a smug cunt then.

Excellent.

SardineQueen · 08/02/2015 22:56

Yes and what do all women call you?

Clue's in the thread.

lol.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones1984 · 08/02/2015 22:56

I call all women love. ]

Stop doing that. We really don't like it.

SardineQueen · 08/02/2015 22:56

xposts marvellous

Magnetic1 · 08/02/2015 22:56

Shame on you for belittling and disregarding my son's views. Out of order tbh.

AnnieLobeseder · 08/02/2015 22:57

Can I ask what would you expect to happen to you if you called a man "love"? And why you think women should react any differently?

SardineQueen · 08/02/2015 22:57

Oh come on he's having a laugh now.

Is he some kind of construct to generate conversation around the relative worth of different people's word in society?

PetulaGordino · 08/02/2015 22:58

i'm allowing "love" - it fits in with the air of patronage that men with advice to share with feminists should feel when approaching this thread

RufusTheReindeer · 08/02/2015 22:58

I can absolutely guarantee that there are boys "bossing" your son...but he won't be calling them "bossy" as only girls have that term used against them

SabrinaMulhollandJjones1984 · 08/02/2015 22:59

Calm down magnetic - women and girls aren't believed either - you know - when we tell of such trivial things like rape and sexual harassment, discrimination in the workplace, male violence.

Although I'm sure son's experience of being bossed about by girls is equally harrowing.

SardineQueen · 08/02/2015 23:00

In some places it's standard for everyone to call everyone certain terms like love. Which is fine.

A man who calls all women, and only women, love, is an absolute wanker.

So there we have it.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 08/02/2015 23:00

Don't be silly Rufus... the ban the bossy campaign is a figment of feminists imaginations, and we should all be spending our time on whatever subject this pathetic excuse for a man decides we should. He said so on another thread.

CaptainHolt · 08/02/2015 23:01

Can I clear up something about the guides?

Obviously if it lets boys in, it will be mixed, so what do men want?

A. Women to ban girls from the Girl Guides, and make it male only?

B. Women to start a whole new movement just for boys?

C. Men to do fuck all about it?

D. All of the above?

Magnetic1 · 08/02/2015 23:02

"Can I ask what would you expect to happen to you if you called a man "love"? And why you think women should react any differently?"

Why would I call a man "love"? I'm not a homosexual. Hmm A straight man would quite rightly be miffed.

It's fine between men and women though. The woman who works in my local calls all the men "love" and "darling" too. You obviously don't mix in working class circles. It's quite common.

RufusTheReindeer · 08/02/2015 23:02

Oh fuckit yes I remember... Oops thanks puffins

It's just I'm waiting for a man to tell feminists what they should be looking at and there hasn't been one on here yet
